The fact that I took the photos at different times is quite noticeable in this :D
A look of a reluctant face from the monkey, 3 of us were snapping at a group of them, snapping away as though we the monkeys were part of a photoshoot as models. A very candid sight if anyone was there to witness. I personally love the negative space in such shots.
I thought this shot quite pose off as an ad seeking help for animals. lol

Here's a slipcover and back cushions/magazine holder I designed for Urbana Rue.
It was very interesting to design something for mass manufacture (Made in China), and I got a glimpse of what it's like! One thing I found interesting and frustrating is that the factory in China didn't want my patterns. Instead, they used my sample to develop their own pattern, which, frankly, didn't look as good. I'm sure they made compromises for ease of manufacture, and it's been selling so I shouldn't complain, but as a custom clothier I'm not used to accepting imperfection!
The back cushion wraps around to the back, where it has a pocket for magazines, and I think also one for a remote, if I remember correctly (I finished this project over a year ago, just now getting around to posting photos).
As part of the project, I got a sofa to keep, and it's a cute little sofa. It works well for my lifestyle because it's so light it's very easy to move around if I need more space in my living room, or if I need to convert my computer to a movie-viewing device :)

Alice X. Zhang
Alice X. Zhang is a full-time freelance designer, illustrator and portrait artist with an enduring interest in cinema, comics and Pop culture.
Alice X. Zhang is by far one of the most impressive artists I’ve come across in terms of her creativity and contributions to her craft. She was born on November 8, 1988 and grew up in Auckland, New Zealand. Ms. Zhang is a well traveled artist. She has also spent time in Hong Kong and New York. Few artists have accomplished so much in so little time.
Ironically enough, Alice Zhang did not take to art immediately. At the age of 6 her parents took her to painting classes and she hated them. This changed when her chief interests became her primary influences for art. She graduated from Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in graphic design. RISD is annually ranked as the top art and design school in the United States.
Ms. Zhang worked as a designer for Freeze. This company designs, sells, manufactures and distributes licensed clothing to retail. Currently she is a full-time freelance painter, illustrator, and printmaker. She recently created a set of licensed Doctor Who art that’s simply fantastic (wink to the 9th). She has been a contributing member of Threadless for several years now and helped 319 designs get printed.
But her most impressive achievement in my mind is the founding of Mischmasch in 2008. Mischmasch is an online artist community that displays art in both a physical gallery and a virtual one. Created by Ms. Zhang as a way for her friends to show each other updated works – Mischmasch has grown into a global community of artists. There are over 2000 members, hailing from over a hundred different cities. You can hear her introduce Mischmasch here.
As anyone can imagine, Ms. Zhang uses a number of tools in making her art. These include: Adobe Photoshop, Wacom, Cintiq 21UX, Wacom Bamboo, pencils, and watercolors. She enjoys BBC programs like Doctor Who and Sherlock. She’s also a fan of Game of Thrones. Her favorite visual artists include John Singer Sargent, Johannes Vermeer and Glen Keane.

Sluggy Freelance

Sluggy Freelance: When Holidays Attack/159 pages and $12.95/Pete Abrams/sold in book stores and at www.plan9.org.
"Yeah," remarks Torg pointing to a newspaper story on the Y2K computer "bug", "they are fixing all the major systems, but some are low on the totem pole, like..."
"Beer distribution," finishes Riff.
"In the year 2000, beer may be impossible to get," adds Torg.
"We can't RISK being vague on this!" moans Riff, the inventor of their time machine. "We HAVE to know what the future holds!"
What it holds for readers is a bucketful of yucks based on wild parodies of movies in "When Holidays Attack", the third Sluggy Freelance comic strip collection from Plan Nine Publishing.
Torg and Riff are two twenty-something slackers who spend their days doing mundane chores. Battling demons from Hell. Slow-dancing with a mummy. Feeding Bun-Bun, the switchblade totting bunny rabbit. Flirting with Muffin, the Vampire Baker. You know; the usual stuff.
Not to be outdone by their supporting cast, they also tote. Their weapon is the human tongue, always firmly planted in the human cheek.
The adventures of Riff, Torg, Gwynn, Zoe and Aylee (Torg's alien secretary) are drawn in a scratchy style that lies somewhere between Peanuts and Archie Andrews. Just for variety, lots of ink washes occasionally are effectively applied to some strips for God-only-knows-what reason. It is probably to make Santa Claus more ominous looking as he sends a mechanical rabbit to destroy the Easter bunny.
"I present to you MECHA-EASTER-BUNNY!" screams Santa. "This unstoppable force has but one goal...to destroy Bun-Bun!"
An elf whispers in Santa's ear.
"Two goals!" adds Santa. "To destroy Bun-Bun and DELIVER EASTER EGGS!"
The elf whispers yet again.
"Three goals!! To destroy Bun- Bun, deliver Easter Eggs and DESTROY TOKYO!"
You get the idea.
Sluggy is sprinkled with infrequent profanity (which means this strip never ran in mainstream newspapers), but is still recommended for all but the youngest of readers.
