On this Memorial Day Weekend, let us be reminded of the importance of the freedom in this Country and what sets us apart from all others. It is freedom that grants us the potential to be whatever we want to be.......
On this Saturday May 27, 2023….The Blue Star Mothers of Louisiana, Chapter 1 and the Gold Star Families of Louisiana again put on their Annual Memorial Day "Garden of Flags" and Ceremony in Baton Rouge, LA.
This is a solemn event where the fallen Louisiana heroes from 9/11 to present day are honored and remembered. The bell (shown here) is tolled for every one of those fallen heroes as their names are individually announced.
After the ceremony, the BSM and many volunteers plant over 11,000 American flags. Each flag represents a fallen hero from the American Revolutionary War to present day.
This Memorial Day Weekend, make it more than just a cookout and gathering of friends.....
Truly take the time to pay tribute to our fallen heroes……
And for those currently serving......Please thank them for their service to this Great Country.
May God Bless America !

Freedom of speech = nobody has the last word
At AROS museum of modern art in Århus Denmark. New Nordic exhibition. Wall art by Jari Leinonen (FI).
We went back Memorial Day morning to photograph the completed display of the 11,000+ flags honoring the memory of all the fallen heroes of the Armed Services.
With the Louisiana State Capitol in the background, this annual display is sponsored by the Gold Star Families of Louisiana and the Blue Star Mothers of Louisiana - Chapter 1.
Each flag represents a fallen hero from the American Revolutionary War to present day.
Let us remember the sacrifices they made for us to have the freedom we enjoy today.
Let us remember that they defended our right to freedom of expression as well.
Thanks for taking a look and as always, and for your wonderful comments.
I hope everyone has a Blessed and solemn Memorial Day.

Spread the word, keep our freedom of speech, diversity and come together to embrace our differences! We do not want to go backwards with feelings of hate, indifference and superiority. We are all human beings, all equal in make and identity and that is the way we should treat one another as equals, with respect, friendship, compassion, understanding and work together in harmony and unity now and always! Lets come together with love and in peace, together, we achieve mountains alone, we are weak! Stop the pain start the healing!
Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Giving my shout out to Elizabeth Warren and to all of the strong women before her. Thank you for your persistence! I challenge you to use your voice today, fight for what you believe is right.

On Monday, 15th March is the last day before the terrifying bill surrounding protest in the U.K. is likely to be passed. The UK government is rushing through legislation to criminalise all protest. Any action that is likely to cause unease, serious annoyance or inconvenience can be deemed illegal.
This is abhorrent and clear contempt of democratic rights.
Has 'Democracy' becomes 'demon crazy' !
Ten (10) years behind bars just for doing this ?

Nowrūz (Persian language: نوروز [noʊruːz]), meaning 'New Day') is the traditional ancient Iranian festival and also the start day of Iranian "New Year".
Nowruz is celebrated and observed by Iranian peoples and the related cultural continent and has spread in many other parts of the world, including parts of Central Asia, South Asia, Northwestern China, the Crimea and some ethnic groups in Albania, Bosnia, Serbia and the Republic of Macedonia.
Nowruz marks the first day of Spring and the beginning of the year in Iranian calendar. It is celebrated on the day of the astronomical vernal equinox, which usually occurs on March 21 or the previous/following day depending on where it is observed. As well as being a Zoroastrian holiday and having significance amongst the Zoroastrian ancestors of modern Iranians, the same time is celebrated in the Indian sub-continent as the new year. The moment the Sun crosses the celestial equator and equalizes night and day is calculated exactly every year and Iranian families gather together to observe the rituals.
The term Nowruz in writing, first appeared in Persian records in the second century AD, but it was also an important day during the time of the Achaemenids (c. 648-330 BC), where kings from different nations under the Persian empire used to bring gifts to the emperor also called King of Kings (Shahanshah) of Persia on Nowruz.
The UN's General Assembly in 2010 recognized the International Day of Nowruz, describing it a spring festival of Persian origin which has been celebrated for over 3,000 years. In 2009 Nowrūz was officially registered on the UNESCO List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Since 2010, the United Nations General Assembly recognizes March 21 as the "International Day of Nowruz".

This is dedicated to MOCA Los Angeles after the giant antiwar mural was erased by the museum staff just after it was finished. Jeffrey Deitch, the MOCA director claimed it was potentially offensive to the community. Can there be a more perfect example of censorship?

Street portrait from the Anti-Trump demonstration in Glasgow, Scotland. A face that has graced the pages of BBC News since last night and an American woman who, in an interview, said that she was glad to be living in Scotland at the moment. Captured at a high ISO and large aperture to fight the very low light as I forgot to take my flash along to the rally.

It is common knowledge that most people in America just want Bush & Cheney gone, period! I mean, you invite a coupla guys in your house and them and their buddies proceed to just wreck the place (while you really weren't looking...as closely as you probably shoulda been.) Righteously, you scream "get the fuck out"...."just get out, now"!!!
Well, everyone does not have your mild mannered temperament, or spread the other cheek philosophy. Some people, who cherish their house greatly, and take great pride in what they acquired and built, want much more than to just let them saunter out the door.
Those people want them out, but they want them carried out...in cuffs! Because on closer examination, them and their buddies did much more damage than was initially realized...and goddamnit, somebody needs to held accountable for this mess!!!
Tonight I had the honor and pleasure of meeting three women who are part of the latter group, and they are not joking in the least. I tip my hat to them and the spirit of true patriotism. They'll be downtown Tuesday in full force.

I was feeling uninspired by the typical Seattle weather, but all that changed when I saw a heck ton of droplets clinging on grass at our front yard... This involved some crawling! *LOL* My tripod just couldn't go low enough for this shot.
