20080412_7724_1D3-65 Tim Stewart LPSNZ and Barry Smith FPSNZ

This is the night that both received their awards (or latest award in Barry's case). Tim (eldest son) received his Licentiate of the Photographic Society of New Zealand (LPSNZ) and Barry, his Fellowship (FPSNZ).

When Tim joined our local photographic club (2005) and started competing in competitions (in C/Novice grade), Barry was the first judge who saw his work, and raved about the clarity on a couple of his bird photos, Barry said that for technical clarity etc these two prints were far better than anything in the grades above. He also commented that Tim would not be in C grade very long with work of this standard. He was right!

Unfortunately Barry passed away in 2013, the loss of a great man.

We had just parked to go to the funeral of a good friend in photography (Barry Smith FPSNZ) when I saw the sign in a shop window with "Trev" on it. "Look Trev" I said to my friend, "it's you there". Baaaaa!

Both images shot with an EOS-M and the 22mm f/2 STM lens.
