“The Mustang set off a revolution almost to the level of the Model T in terms of making a cool sports car affordable to the average person. When you were driving a Mustang, you were special. You were noticed. You stood out. And today the Mustang delivers the same attributes.”
- Bob Witter, Ford Global Brand Entertainment

Polaroid 600 instant photo taken circa 1990. My sister shows her new Mustang with the 5.0L (302) HO V8. It had a manual transmission, whether it was a 4- or 5-speed I don't recall. It was one of the many other cars she has owned equipped with a stick-shift including an Opel Manta, Firebird Trans Am and Porsche Boxter.
My very first new sports car. It was fast and throaty, loved the way it out me back in my seat and making the growl. I also loved how old I was.
Current position: #31 on Explore, April 6th 2012.

The third-generation Mustang was produced by Ford from 1979 until 1993. Built on Ford's Fox platform, it is commonly referred to as the "Fox body Mustang". It evolved through several sub-models, trim levels, and drive-train combinations during its production life. And, as you can see from the badge on the quarter panel behind the front tire, this is the version of the Mustang that garnered the nickname "five-oh" made famous in music lyrics from the late '80s and early '90s.

None of that Ecoboost stuff here... Just a mint looking example of a Fox-body, even if it might not be a V8.

My low mileage 1992 Ford Mustang LX hatchback with a 2.3L four cylinder engine and four speed automatic.
One of my favourite generations of Mustang, especially in Cobra version. The Foxbody Mustang, although introduced in 1978, has aged quite well, and with a facelift looked quite modern at the end of its career. This is exactly the model from that period, in 5.0 H.O. version which has 5.0 V8 engine with 225 HP. Interestingly, one of rare American muscle cars that have the engine displacement written in cubic centimetres rather than inches. H.O. means High Output, although 225 HP isn't that much for today's means. This car was originally bought in South Carolina, and imported in Serbia by its original owner in early 90s. Since 2009 it was in garage. Interestingly, it has 5 speed manual transmission.

Long time no see, huh. At least I hope you had more interesting and productive summer time than mine was =p
Anyway, I'm kind of back in action again with another fictional car, loosely based on Mustang Foxbody (though someone could see similarities to Ford Falcon XB "Pursuit Special" design, it was purely unintentional).
In my planned attempt to reboot universe of LEGO Racers videogames this car belongs to Jeremy T. Sparks aka "Sparky", always happy car mechanic who's familiar with street racing scene but not taking a part in any events now. However, it obviously seems like his trustworthy V6-powered muscle car went to hell and back one day...

This '79 Mustang isn't based on a specific model or trim package because I wanted to include a full suite of iconic elements on my build: the black trim stripes, rear window louvers, hood scoop, sunroof, and spoiler. Dark Red is a really nasty color to work with, guys. Look at all the color variation on these pieces!
Instructions for this one are free because, to be up front with y'all, it's not very fun to build and I cannot bring myself to charge money for a bad time.
An antique Florida Highway Patrol Ford Mustang SSP on display at the St. Augustine Beach National Night Out event in St. Augustine Beach, Florida. The Mustang SSP, meaning Special Service Package, was a factory variant of the foxbody Mustang that was available to police departments such as FHP and CHP from the early 1980s until the mid 1990s. The Florida Highway Patrol was one of the biggest users of the car, and ordered thousands of them from its inception until its discontinuation. This specific vehicle is a 1985 SSP and has been restored and maintained by an auxiliary trooper. It is not in active service with FHP.
