After allowing me to shoot photographs of her, Yoko smiled her sweet little prim smile and coyly asked me if she can take a self-portrait. This request caught me by surprise! But, of course, what do you tell a cute little Kimmidoll? You say, "Yes, of course!" So, she went and set Lucio up and adjusted the 70-200's settings (she decided to stick with f2.8) and climbed back to the countertop.
Her tiny dainty hands nicely tucked behind her, in traditional Kimmidoll fashion, she pouted her little cute pout and pressed the remote release... twice. Click! Click!
She decided she liked this image better than the other one. :)

right before christmas you brought me a letter. being 3 and only knowing the letters for your name i asked you what the letter said. you then proceeded in your soft sweet voice "i love your heart mommy". hugging you until you muffled "mommy you are squishing me" i jotted your words on the front bottom right corner and placed it on my desk so that i could enjoy it. after a few weeks it is off to the memory box... it is mine forever. and you have no idea how much my heart loves yours. you have healed me in ways i cannot put into words. but, i hope you will always know and feel.
you wanted to go snuggle one day in my bed, so i grabbed the camera and decided to capture us and in my thoughts i knew i wanted these moments paired up with the letter you gave me.
the relationships we are given with our children as they age is my favorite part as mommy. some mommy's yearn for their babies to stay babies and although i don't want all of you growing up too fast. i yearn for our relations, conversations, exchanges that have formed over these years. the laughter that we have and the love we exchange. it amazes me that at 3 years new about to be 4, you chose to feel these words. to write me a letter.

I found this amazing vintage bike for my daughter at the Goodwill. You can't really see it here, but it is so darn cute. I'll be posting more pics of it soon.

Tuesday, 26 May 2020: our temperature this morning is 12C (windchill 10C). Sunrise is at 5:31 am, and sunset is at 9:35 pm. Sunshine and a sky full of clouds.
This is another of the three jigsaw puzzles that I got for my daughter. I have been longing for the last three weeks to get them over to my daughter's place and put them on her doorstep, but I have to wait till after tomorrow. Unfortunately, each puzzle is plastic wrapped, which resulted in less-than-sharp photos.
Tomorrow is THE day - my car will hopefully be fixed with a new push-start button. I am SO excited at the thought of being able to get out again, after just over three weeks of not risking driving in case the car dies again and leaves me stranded, especially outside the city.

This is one of three jigsaw puzzles that I got for my daughter - had hoped to get the 2,000-piece version, but there wasn't one available. I have been longing for the last three weeks to get them over to my daughter's place and put them on her doorstep, but I need to wait till my car has been repaired in two more days. Hopefully, a new push-start button will mean that my car won't die yet again, when I am out of the city. This is not a time to be stranded away from home!

This is the last of the three jigsaw puzzles that I got for my daughter. When I went online to visit their website, I discovered that most of their puzzles were already sold out. This was one of the remaining ones. I have been longing for the last three weeks to get them over to her place and put them on her doorstep, but I have to wait till after today, when my car gets fixed (I hope!). Unfortunately, each puzzle is plastic wrapped, which resulted in less-than-sharp photos.
Today is THE day - my car will hopefully be fixed, with a new push-start button being installed. I am SO excited at the thought of being able to get out again, after just over three weeks of not risking driving in case the car dies again, leaving me stranded, especially if I go out of the city. This was timed really badly, with the Coronavirus devastating the world.
I'm digging that Dresden plate. Good thing I cut out four more of them before I changed my mind and only added one to the back of her quilt, huh?
This is the label for this quilt. I wrote a note to my daughter, the recipient, in the yellow center, after I photographed this.
I handquilted the floral pattern you see here. The crosshatching was done by machine.

I finished my daughter's quilt in time for Christmas. Yay! Now she sleeps with it every night. "O Reva Pig!" she says. :)
I used all Olivia fabrics from the Andover line with the exception of the binding, which is Michael Miller dots (aqua).

I remember when I was young, riding my own bike - it was exhilarating! I love the refreshing feeling of the wind blowing against my face, the excitement of being chased by the neighbors' dogs, and the adventure of traveling to different places without having to walk -be it around the neighborhoods, to the woods or fields.
When my daughter got her bike today, I was probably more excited for her as she embarks on her own adventures. =)
