In memory of Phoenix, the little eaglet !
Yesterday... standing on this edge, seeing this expansive view I was reminded again of little Phoenix, the eaglet...... and the flight of the eagle that never was !
This is a view from Cypress Bowl Mountain across West Vancouver, Stanley Park, down town Vancouver, B.C., Canada…. south towards the USA
Remember when I posted a screen shot of cute little Phoenix, the eaglet, here on my flickr stream? Sadly, little Phoenix never experienced that first flight, she died last Wednesday, 14 July, just around her much anticipated fledging date. As one of the 11,000 fans on The Eagles of Hornby Island - Webcam, I saw her growth from a little newly hatched chick to a beautiful grown eagle, watched all the beautiful interaction between her and her parents, the wonderful care her parents gave her, especially the gentle feedings by Dad..... and I saw her decline, noticed her not doing her wing exercise anymore, refusing to eat for the last few days and then her laborious breathing and in the end her collapse. She was taken down from the nest the next day by a tree climber of Mountaineaire Avian Rescue and underwent test's at BC Animal Health Lab. The preliminary report after the necropsy says she died of Pneumonia.
Phoenix’s passing made national news, here is the video:

Within a month I have to finish about six more motorcycle seats for a motorcycle show/anniversary party at a Motorcycle club just outside Oslo.. I have two seats ready, one which I´m working on and one I just started.. and six to go.. I will also borrow one or two which I have already made and sold.. Next week I will also get three custom made seat pans which I designed, one of them with a brass frame.. so a lot of work to do.. :-) but working with leather is a lot of fun!
You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I’ll rise.

As for now my bathroom floor works as a working space.. doesn´t matter if I spill any dye.. The seats will be shown off at Reckless MC´s 10th anniversary party this weekend.. hopefully I´ll get some orders or sell any of them too.. All seats are hand made and the two seats at the bottom is made with two seat pans I designed and got a good friend to make for me.. all one of a kind!
Just another Solo Seat I´m working on which have to be finished this weekend.. at least it have to look finished :-) I designed the seat pan and got a good friend to make it to me.. it´s all one of a kind and hand made..
