The United States Air Force Thunderbirds are the premiere aerial acrobatic demonstration team, performing jaw dropping maneuvers in F-16 aircraft at speeds up to 1200 mph. Based out of Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas Nevada the team travels around the world exhibiting the skill and capability of the world’s most advanced and respected Air , Space, and Cyber Space Force. The Thunderbirds’ precision ground and air show is awe-inspiring and promises to overwhelm the audience with a powerful sense of pride in America and its Air Force.
The Royal Australian Air Force ordered 33 Hawk 127 Lead-in Fighters (LIFs) in June 1997, 12 of which were produced in the UK and 21 in Australia. This variant is also powered by the Adour 871. The Hawk 127 is operated by the RAAF's No. 76 Squadron and No. 79 Squadron which are based at RAAF Base Williamtown and RAAF Base Pearce respectively. Work to upgrade the RAAF's Hawks to a standard similar to the Hawk 128 standard began in 2014, and it is planned that the two squadrons will begin operations with these aircraft in 2017.
