Not far from the famous Folsom Prison made famous by Johnny Cash is the Folsom Rainbow Bridge which spans the American River as it flows through Folsom California. Also known as the Greenback Lane Bridge, it was built in 1917 by Ross Construction Company of Sacramento California and designed by Drury D. Butler it spans 208 feet. A concrete arch bridge with a great amount of aesthetic and stylistic detail in the design. This week's theme of the Happy Caturday group is "Song, movie or book" and after pondering the theme for a whole week Tofu chose "Folsom Prison Blues" by Johnny Cash. :)
I add another capture in the comments.
Happy Caturday !
This is Folsom's new bridge, taken a couple weeks ago.
It was not a good weekend in our household. We had to put our 12 year old cat down, I learned I will be losing my job in a few months, and I have a crappy cough/cold. Ugh. Hope yours was better.
You can read more about all this on my blog.

The Folsom local shoots out of Roseville and snakes through the yard. The train will spend the night switching industries along its route and return to Roseville early in the morning.
These are the 2 remaining buildings at Folsom Farm, It’s another good example of one combination that attracts me: the grasses and other features of the steppe, the vast blue skies and the weathered remnants of abandoned farms. Rick Williams inspires me too!
Location Information:
The Folsom Farm site is near Fishtrap Lake in eastern Washington state, USA. It includes an early 1900's homestead surrounded by more than 8,000 acres of beautiful landscapes with habitats ranging from forest and shrub-steppe to grass and wetlands. Part of the Channeled Scablands of eastern Washington, this area is named for the trenches and outcrops of ragged, scarred rock interspersed with wet meadows and wheat fields. The Great Missoula Ice Age Floods that scoured the region more than 12,000 years ago carved out this unique landscape. The antique farm house overlooks the restored Smick Meadows wetlands. Fishtrap is located ~30 miles/48km southwest of Spokane Washington: 47.367395, -117.830433
The dam at Folsom Lake used to be much more accessible, the two lane road that took drivers over the Folsom Dam ala Hoover Dam fashion was closed in February 2003 weeks before the Iraq War began as the dam was identified as the 63rd California ranked target LAX being number 1. It forced all the traffic through the old Gold Rush streets of Folsom from that time until today as 23 years later the dam remains off limits for security reasons. This image that I captured on my Apple iPhone 13 Pro is probably the best image I have of the entire dam, taken as my Palme from Sacramento International Airpot made it ascent upward towards the east. A roadway was eventually built downstream to alleviate the traffic and when the actual assessment is looked at, while the Folsom Dame doesn’t hold the most water even in the state of California, if the dam were comprised, it would affect and disrupt a very large metropolitan area with 500,000 people in its path and 40 billion in businesses, home & infrastructure at risk. This school house has a reunion each August, however I am not sure how many are still left around that went here.
Every spring, when the rolling hills and verdant oak trees of the Sierra foothills are briefly green, I love getting out with the camera to capture the fleeting season.
These rocks are part of the old gold-mine tailings along the American River in Folsom, Ca. I don't know if the pebbles on the larger rock were placed into dents, or if they're started to wear tiny potholes into the larger rock. Rocks do that along rivers, but this is rather above water level.
I took this image in the spring of 2013. The lupine display was nicer last year, at least in terms of fuller displays, and fewer bare patches. The problem last year was the sky was completely uninteresting, during my visit. Seeing this, I decided not to wait around a couple of hours for sunset, but instead just take in the view before driving home.
Before leaving, I took a shot of the scene to help me plan for a return trip this year. As the wind was mostly calm, I selected a ten second exposure, to obtain enhanced color and smoothness in the water. It took a while for me to add this image to my website and post it here, because the shot felt a bit random. However, even if not overly interesting, I used Capture One software to help me process my image and get the most out of this pretty field of lupines; one of many that lined the banks of Folsom Lake, during the spring of 2013.
