I am shooting my first wedding tomorrow and I think I'm ready...no stress at all:)
So I will be off Flickr for awhile as, after the wedding, I will be spending all my time processing the images, which I figure will take 5 or 6 days. Then, the following week, we are going on a road trip through Eastern Washington, so won't be around then either. If I have any time in between, I'll do my best to post and comment. Will miss you and see you in a few weeks!

The Earth Archive
At dusk, immersed in the contemplation of the fabulous landscape of the canyon, my thoughts found a simple question: What is this landscape trying to tell me?…
_________
Here, the long labor of time has left us archives of what was, in the form of strata of marine and terrestrial sediments, debris of various forms of life, of an age between 200 million and 2 billion years…
These soils have been transported here over thousands of kilometers and lifted 3000 meters by colossal forces, which the human mind can hardly imagine.
The sciences have accumulated a large body of knowledge about “how” the Earth Archives was formed, here and elsewhere. But the enigma of life itself always remains hidden from us by a veil of mystery.

I felt a great humility in front of this scene, in front of the forces deployed by evolution, during… the long labor of time.
So, would it be appropriate to ask whether “Homo Deus” will be able to meet the planetary climate challenge, considering it as a simple problem of managing a human habitat? Is it a problem, which can be solved by technology, the usual human know-how, and the intercession of international diplomacy?
There is nothing in this world greater than the world itself. This is the first teaching of the Archives of the Earth.

(patrice)
—————
Werner Herzog, a great filmmaker, once said that "the universe is monstrously indifferent to the presence of man" ... .If he is right, it is from this small house lost on the shores of the Magdalen Island in Quebec, that I would like to see the universe not give a damn about me! (Patrice)

STILLNESS
A deep, abyssal silence followed the furious snowstorm that had struck down the river valley, the surrounding forest and our modest creaking cabin.
This sudden and strange silence calmed my mind, as if it had been under the influence of a Magician, an Enchantress. An absolute tranquility that imposed on me a moment of contemplation, improbable otherwise. In me, a feeling imposed itself more and more clearly: that of this unspeakable bond which unites us, us the living beings, with our planet, with our origins, with the Universe…
…in deep silence.

Breathe, breathe in the air,
Cherish this moment,
Cherish this breath
Tomorrow is a new day for everyone,
Brand new moon, brand new sun
When you feel life coming down on you,
Like a heavy weight
When you feel this crazy society,
Adding to the strain
Take a stroll to the nearest waters
And remember your place
Many moons have risen and fallen long, long before you came
So which way is the wind blowin',
And what does your heart say?

Across the Universe
When I was young, I loved watching the stars
Through a telescope;
People thought I was here,
But often I was up there.
There, is also in each of us,
There are up there unexplored worlds that we ignore,
Consenting prisoners of our daily reality.
Crossing the universe, the one that lives inside me,
I never failed to find the light
To love passionately
The colors of this little world,
The useless things,
The remote roads,
The children that laugh,
The mood of your eyes.
I am still up there, dancing with the stars
More than ever
But, I don't need a telescope anymore
And people are not looking for me anymore.
Crossing the universe, I discovered. . .
The dreamer who was looking through the telescope

An early morning swim of a group of Canada geese out on Lake Erie are observed by an overhead seagull. What was even more interesting to me was the morning sky with the cloud layers in contrast to the lake.

Sunflowers follow poppies. As I could see this morning, these have also completely faded in the meantime. Here they are still in their full splendor and glory.
