My African Violet, after two years of vigorous growth but no buds, has finally flowered. This is a focus-stacked macro. Lighting from studio strobe.

This is a composite of 108 photos each having a focus field of roughly 0.6mm.
The pictured area is roughly 7cm in length, 4cm in width.
This is an image made of three macro shots of the crab, focus stacked together in Photoshop to produce a single image with all the areas in focus.
I found this unfortunate(Dead) Sminthurinus niger on a bench at Wollaton Park and no I did not sit on it. I always seem to find these guys on benches and do not know how this one ceased to exist.
However, it presented an opportunity to attempt a focus stack. This was a 5 image focus stack at x5 magnification and has been cropped. When your subject is about 1mm in length then the whole focus stacking thing takes on a new dimension, I'm quite happy with the way this handheld focus stack has turned out :o)

A focus stack of 60 shots merged in Zerene. Missed a bit at the front so I might re-shoot this another day. Actual size is slightly over an inch long and nearly half an inch in diameter.
