Moth Weekend

From my home Moth Trap

10 images focus stacked in Zerene stacker.

From Butterfly Conservation:

The usual form in rural areas is all white peppered with black dots on both the wings and body. Black forms known as f. carbonaria were once dominant in industrial areas with high levels of pollution although their frequency has been steadily declining in recent years. Intermediate forms known collectively as f. insularia are variable between the light and dark forms.

The larvae can be seen between early July and late September before they overwinter as pupae just below the ground.

The Peppered Moth is frequently found in UK gardens, yet its amazing story has made it famous all over the world. It's one of the best-known examples of evolution by natural selection, Darwin's great discovery, and is often referred to as 'Darwin's moth'.

Materials from a school project in Evesham. Photos taken by students through the town and along the river were merged using the Focus Stacking tools in Photoshop. They were then printed out for use in a giant collage.

Shot this with a 100 macro at f7.1, 10 shots processed in "Helican Focus" stacking software.

Light from window and a silver reflector to the side.

Helicon Focus is a program that creates one completely focused image from several partially focused images by combining the focused areas.

The program is designed for macrophotography, microphotography and hyperfocal landscape photography and solves the shallow depth-of-field problem.

This is on my Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark III.

Also the number of shots for the DOF will vary depending on the subject, distance form the subject and the angle to the subject.

The step interval can be set between 1-10 and depending on you DOF you can use say 5 if you DOF is wide enough and this would reduce the number of images needed when manual focus bracketing

My very First Focus Stacking Project~~~~!

I finally had found a tamed dragonfly in my garden so that I could start this focus stacking project.

I did 7 shots on this juvenile beauty and stacked them with CombineZM software.
