I placed this beautiful and intriguing climatis bud on a glass table in the autumn sun. I just loved it how the shadows revealed those gorgeous curly hairs !!
Thanks for stopping by my gallery. I’m very pleased and really appreciate each and every view of my photo, comments, invitations and awards
Great Egret chicks about 4-5 weeks old, still very downy. Usually one parent stays with them at the nest until the chicks are 3-4 weeks old, when both parents will sometimes start to leave to forage for food.
Location: Seven Weeks Poort in the Little Karoo
Description: Here is another (half-decent) composition from my recent visit to the spectacular Seven Weeks Poort (I just wish I'd pressed the shutter one second earlier).
The magnificent vertical rockfolds, reaching for the skies on both sides of the road, reflect the inconceivable forces of the volcanic eruptions millions of years ago, forming the chain of Cape ripple-like mountains. Often the converging slopes leave only a narrow pass, just broad enough for the Huis River to pass through, whilst the precipices of naked, distorted rock-faces tower like walls of a natural rampart, obscuring the sun.
I honestly couldn’t think of any better place to pedal my bicycle… can you?

A Meadowlark standing on a fence post 'fluffs' its wings.
This one was photograhed on a fence post used to separate a cattle ranch from a Storm Treament Area (STA).
One of my most precious moments of 2021. I almost fell out of my car when I saw this little godwit chick crossing the mighty waters of a ditch (and not taking the long way around on the greenfield.) So tiny and then swimming over rough waves without any fear(;)). Adorable it was!
I have numerous shots of Black Crested grebes with their young, and it is diificult to make a choice what to post.
This little chick was only one hour old, and they are part of a family that nests every year in my sisters pond. It is one of my favourite birds, and the way they take care of their young is very adorable. Riding on the back of one of the parents, in between the feathers is certainly a safe and a warm place to start you life with!
A young boreal owl, hatched and raised at the wildlife park Eekholt and enjoying the late autumnal afternoon sun.
I fell immedeately in love with this fluffy little face. 😃

The moment after grooming, when a bird shakes its plumage, could look so very comical.. here, the northern gannet looks a bit like it has a goose bumps! 😄

Like all cats Tofu looks like a baby when he is asleep, especially when he hugs one of his toys. At the moment the favourite toy and sleeping companion is the rabbit in the carrot. :)
