A Nokia N900 device, suspended on the line of a kite, for the KAPing with the N900 project. Check out the blog.

This was our first KAV (Kite Aerial Video) session with the N900. It was a very nice afternoon, and everything worked out better than we expected. We celebrated after that ordering two delicious tapiocas. :)

The test results of this session are here, and the video we KAPtured is here.

Abandoned water storage in a very dry place. On the dry and dusty flat of the Carizzo Plain I couldn't get the right wind for the ff16. I considered KAP from a moving vehicle but decided against it. The San Andres Fault is at the base of the far hills. Not enough wind to get a high shot. Photo enhanced useing photomatix, HDR from a single RAW ...camera hung from a kite string CRW_5208plus

In Yosemite Valley and 30 seconds into my first flight the wind got funny, I chose to run upwind. Bad idea. The camera is caught in a tree, and I don't yet know it. Jeffries pine trees in Yosemite grow about 200' tall. This is about 100' up. The camera and rig were recovered with great effort and I am in compliance with federal law. Remember, "Take only photographs and leave only footprints". Camera hung from a tree, after being lifted by kite, yosemite july 2008 042 plus (Medium)

The surf along this stretch of Wyadup Beach is unrelenting and unforgiving. The shadow cast by the waves as they break gives a good idea of their colossal power as they surge towards the rocks.

This shot was taken from a Sony A6000 with a Rokinon 8 mm fish-eye lens. The camera was attached to the line of a Flowform 16 kite flying some 300 feet above the beach.

I knew I would need a gusty wind to get a launch in a tight space like this, from the top of mound IV, straight into a rotor, slack line and up she went ..into a freshening S Westerly. Trying to keep in the clean air and low enough to capture surface texture was fun to say the least! This is a 3 image montage, if I'd piled on the height I'd have 2 problems: 1 overblown kite and 2 poor resolution.

20+ knot winds made KAP difficult at best, but the wind across Kua Bay was steady enough to fly a Flowform 8 and lift my BBKK rig. At times, though, the rig was at risk of catching surf spray.

Number two in a series of wave abstracts.

I couldn't get a lot of height because of the high wind speed and the low line angle on my only high wind kite, my Flowform 8. So I spent time playing with the waves.

Equipment Used:

Kite - Flowform 8 + 15' Fuzzy Tail

Line - #200 Dacron

Rig - R/C BBKK

Camera - Canon A650IS

Cuando tenia mi FF30 en lo más alto el viento aumentó en las alturas de tal forma que necesité ayuda para bajarlo ( mi mujer ) y aun así fue un auténtico calvario :-( , pero valió la pena :-) .
