I recently came across a post made by a beautiful lady on my Instagram called Winter Sicario who was comparing her RL face to her SL avatar. How some look in RL like their avi. I was amazed at how many although not 100 perfect ,,many do .maybe on a unconscious level ..some might on purpose ..I find it fascinating .And she was kind enough to make one for me .I would love to see others post some as well ..Lets see those RL/SL avi challenge Pics ..:D

Australasian/Purple Swamphen

Scientific Name: Porphyrio porphyrio

Description: The Purple Swamphen is a large rail. It is mainly dusky black above, with a broad dark blue collar, and dark blue to purple below. As the Purple Swamphen walks, it flicks its tail up and down, revealing its white undertail. The bill is red and robust, and the legs and feet orange-red. For such a bulky bird, the Swamphen is an accomplished flier and will readily take to the air to escape danger. In flight, the long legs and elongated toes trail behind or hang underneath the body. Purple Swamphens are proficient swimmers, but prefer to wander on the edges of the water, among reeds and on floating vegetation.

Distribution: Purple Swamphens are common throughout eastern and northern Australia, with a separate subspecies common in the extreme south-west of the continent. Birds have transported themselves from Australia to New Guinea and New Zealand and throughout the islands of the south-west Pacific. It has been suggested that the New Zealand population of Purple Swamphens (locally called the Pukeko) originated in Australia.

Habitat: The Purple Swamphen is found around freshwater swamps, streams and marshes.

Seasonal movements:

Feeding: The diet of the Purple Swamphen includes the soft shoots of reeds and rushes and small animals, such as frogs and snails. However, it is a reputed egg stealer and will also eat ducklings when it can catch them. The Purple Swamphen uses its long toes to grasp food while eating.

Breeding: Purple Swamphens are generally found in small groups and studies have shown that these consist of more males than females. More than one male will mate with a single female. All family members, and occasionally the young from a previous brood, share in incubation and care of the young. The nest consists of a platform of trampled reeds with the surrounding vegetation sometimes being used to form a shelter. Often two broods will be raised in a year.

Calls: A loud, penetrating 'kee-ow', as well as some softer clucking between members of a group while feeding.

Minimum Size: 44cm

Maximum Size: 48cm

Average size: 46cm

One of my favorite things is to take pictures of windows ..peering through them to find tiny scenes of wonder and beauty .

Tonight's Net Flicks candidate sees former Royal Air Force Avro Shackleton MR.3 WR982/J/8106M preserved at Gatwick Aviation Museum

Note those huge Contra-Rotating Propellers and if you look closely at the rear of that left-hand Rolls-Royce Griffon engine nacelle you'll see the rounded shape of one of the two Armstrong Siddeley Viper turbojet engines that the MR.3 had to assist when 'Shacks' operated, particularly in far-flung hot locations, where extra power was needed on take-off

Sister-ship WR974/K departed GAM for Bruntingthorpe several years ago when a rationalisation of airframes there was made though with Brunters now gone she was moved again to the South Wales Aviation Museum at St. Athan

Painted in 1998 with Kaper in Phoenix, Az. , caught by the Homie, Alamo in Minnesota 2010. Thanks for the flic. A little sun damaged and fading but still there. I guess this wasn't the first time either that he's caught this car. That's pretty cool to think of all the places that the piece has probably seen in it's days. I may be over-romanticizing it but it does make you wonder........

The night we painted this was a pretty cool night with a smooth breeze. A perfect night for painting. Unlike the daytime temperatures that were clearly in the low 100's. The yard spot was in an industrial area within the center of the city. It was completely dead and was full of line after line of Hoppers and BN ridgies, no boxcars though. So we grabbed the next best thing. I remember kind of being a little let down thinking, "Shit, I could paint these back home." Either way, I was just glad to be rocking with the Desert King, Kaper. This all took place after learning of each others existance and having a mutual respect for each other as writers on the lines. We got in contact with each other the old fashioned way. We traded flicks by sending packages to each other and built up a relationship as friends. Something that used to take quite a bit of time back in the nineties. Something that now can be obtained with a few clicks on a computer. It's pretty cool to see how things have changed. Seriously and I know that this is going to date me but to all you young writers out there, you have to imagine NO Internet. There was the internet, just noone really knew how to use it. Email and chat rooms and places like Flickr, were a distant innovation and guys like me didn't grow up with computers as real learning tools in school. I actually got Kaper's address and phone number from another writer that I was trading photos with in Cali. It was a pretty cool thing to do, go visit a new city and paint with a complete stranger that you have never even seen his face. The first time I met Kaper I was chilling at a local meeting spot in Tempe. He approached me and we ended up going to Hooters and downing a few pitchers of beers and talking graff while looking at some ass for a couple hours. It was good and we pretty much hit it off. The next time I met up with him, his whole NG crew of homies were there. Some real cool cats. We all kicked it at this pub and got up in each others sketch books. It was a good night. Kaper and I ended up painting one more Fr8 together on that trip and a wall with a bunch of writers from Phoenix and LA on the outskirts of town. We lost touch over time and I haven't really talked to him in over ten years. I hope to make it back out to Phoenix someday soon and hopefully crush a few cars with him again. Seeing this photo, really brings me back to that time, plus knowing that my piece has survived 12 plus years of service, makes me feel good. Thanks again, Alamo for the photo and thanks Kaper for the memories.

I promised Jewell a blog entry but rl is getting in the way and this is the best I've been able to do so far. I promise it's coming, Jewell!

This picture means a lot to me ..I thought it suited the mood well..

My song ..my struggle with depression..

How it serenades you with its song ..a familiar one .a tune that has played many times in the past ..one you cant seem to shake it ..gets stuck in your head.

You wrap your arms around you ..hold on tight ..like a tiny boat in a vast ocean holding on during the storm ..it gets louder becomes stronger and you try to hold on ..to the light..

as the color fades from the world around you ..you loose the grip and its lyrics drown out everything else .

And you remember the lyrics well ..Unloved...Unwanted..Undeserving ..as it repeats over and over...

And you struggle against it ..fight it ..trying to crawl out of it darkness ..its grip.

I would like to challenge all of you.. to look at picture .painting .video anything that you see and let the artist know how you felt when you saw it..what came to your mind..does

not matter if it is not what he or she envisioned but yours..

I know we all get busy in our lives and we use same words ..stamps ..markers to describe each one ..beautiful,stunning,amazing.

But just one a week ..or one a month..I know some would love to hear what you see how the artists work made you feel etc.

As I will strive to do the same

Thank you all so much for every award, comment, favs ,support ,group invites .They are all greatly appreciated .

Hugs Lynn
