Textiles macro - I used to make baby quilts and sold them to my co-workers for their babies and grand-babies. I used the money for all my crafts and to build up my fabrics and supplies.

Hope you are having an enjoyable Sunday!

A little sheepish fun to get us through the holidays.

At over 600 year old The Fleece is the only public house operated by the National Trust. It is located in the pretty Cotswold village of Bretforton and is seen here at dusk.

Owned by the National Trust and a lovely place to eat and drink.

ANSH challenge #3/4

The Fleece Inn is a public house in Bretforton, in the Vale of Evesham, Worcestershire, England: the half-timbered building, over six hundred years old, has been a pub since 1848, and is now owned by the National Trust.

We stayed here for two nights and had a wonderful stay.

Snowflake from last year - I guess I never uploaded this one.

Never trust a black sheep, they don't conform and have a wicked sense of humour.

Much better shot through a mirror on the bus. This was taken with a dSLR, which in my opinion is why the quality looks better. It's a good thing the light took its time too - I would have been thrown forward and to the side if the light had changed.

Note* The fleece I got from Vancouver.

Man, I think this is one of my best photos - my fleece is vibrant and it's so very clear and sharp. It looks so real. Did it have to be a photo of me? I really sound narcissistic, but I mean the quality of the photo, not myself.

The golden takin (Budorcas taxicolor bedfordi) from the Qin Mountains in south Shaanxi province, China, is one of four recognized takin subspecies. Its coat is golden in color and may have been the origin of the “golden fleece” of Greek mythology.

Speaking of retro, this old Golden Fleece sign graces someone's fence in Invermay. Golden Fleece used to be a popular brand of Australian petrol. In 1981 it was sold to Caltex and promptly disappeared. www.goldenfleece.net.au/history

A window, found in Buckingham, which has seen better days, with some of the panes of glass broken. I'm guessing this window belonged to an abandoned industrial building. I liked how the insulation looked like wool and how it was trying to make its way out of the building.

The Fleece's famous Asparagus Auction is in a few days!

The auction on St George's Day, 23 April is the official start of the asparagus season and events continue until June 21st.

Asparagus from the Vale of Evesham or 'Vale Gras' as it is known locally has been granted PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) and on the day 100's gather in the Fleece's garden to see great bundles of it sold to the highest bidder for charity. The first hundred bundles start their journey at 9am down to London, this year to the Japanese Embassy with much fanfare. Silver bands, Morris Dancing and general mayhem are the order of the day watched over by bemused television film crews from all over the world.

The Fleece and all the farm shops and restaurants of the vale sell and promote the local 'gras' for its short season of two months.

The website below has a professional and charming video of it by the landlord.

Just back from a weekend in Dorset at my Grandfather's, and this is the first image to be ready. It cost me a set of sunset pictures over Kimmeridge, but the sight of these sheep under the falling sun demanded a stop and leaping of stile.

They're at the foot of the hill near Steeple, and behind those hills is the Jurassic Coast and all manner of wonder, such as www.flickr.com/photos/flatworldsedge/5092591483/ taken the following evening.

Stands out viewed on black. Hope everyone has had a great weekend.

Update: Explored #106. Many thanks to everyone who has commented, fav'ed and viewed. I massively appreciate the attention and insights offered. Thanks to all! Well worth missing Kimmeridge on this occasion.

Thanks for stopping HFF
