A Hoverfly without a lot of Northumberland records, I saw one back in July at Silverlink where I visit regularly but through September they have been found at several different sites across the area and I saw them again well inland at Harwood Forest which I also visit regularly with several males and females.
Listed as a migrant visitor to the UK I had not seen one before, it will be interesting to see if there are many sightings next year. Spring records would indicate some surviving the winter as they won’t have had time to migrate this far north again by then.

Random girl I came to while waiting to cross at an intersection. I really loved the tattoo on her wrist but she really wanted me to see this one too.
This female visitor on the great burnet (Sanguisorba officinalis) has the cool name of migrant flatbelly (Xanthandrus comtus).

The first Broad-bodied Chaser I've came across this year. Love those spiderman like patches on the wings giving it some extra detail.
Yesterday I actually went for the Ruby Whiteface and found one. After it landed on my right arm it disapeared high in the sky and against all odds I didn't found another

Techniek (bewerking):Donderdag j.l. in de ochtend gezocht naar uitsluipende libellen o.a. dit exemplaar gevonden die zich net van zijn omhulsel had bevrijd.
Uitsluipen: Een volgroeide larve heeft nog één vervelling voor de boeg: de vervelling van larve naar imago. Soms wordt dit 'verpoppen' genoemd, maar dit is een onjuiste term, aangezien libellen geen popstadium hebben. Een betere en meer gebruikte term is 'uitsluipen'.
Voor het uitsluipen klimt de volgroeide libellenlarve uit het water. Dit gebeurt bijvoorbeeld langs een plantenstengel die in het water of op de oever staat, maar ook allerlei andere objecten op de kant worden gebruikt. Als de larve een geschikte uitsluipplek heeft gevonden, houdt het zich stevig vast en vervelt voor de laatste keer. De huid van kop en borststuk barsten open en heel langzaam komt de volwassen libel eruit. Wanneer kop, borststuk en poten eruit zijn, grijpt de libel zich vast aan het uitsluipsubstraat en trekt zijn achterlijf uit de larvenhuid. Vervolgens blijft het nog verfrommelde en kleurloze dier een tijd lang hangen en pompt zich door middel van lichaamsvloeistof op. Het achterlijf strekt zich langzaam en krijgt steeds meer de langgerekte vorm van een volwassen libel. Ook de vleugels strekken zich langzaam maar zeker uit. Als de libel zijn uiteindelijke vorm bereikt heeft, wordt de overtollige lichaamsvloeistof in druppeltje afgescheiden door het achterlijf.
De libel heeft zijn uiteindelijke vorm bereikt, maar is nog vrijwel kleurloos en te zacht om te vliegen. Pas na enige tijd uitharden is de libel klaar voor zijn eerste vlucht en vliegt weg van het water, meestal naar de eerste de beste boom of struik. Het lege larvenhuidje blijft achter langs de waterkant. De jonge imago’s (verse imago’s of juvenielen genoemd) zijn nog enkele dagen herkenbaar aan hun glimmende vleugels.
Het hele uitsluipproces duurt meestal langer dan een uur. In die tijd is de libel zeer kwetsbaar voor natuurlijke vijanden (bijvoorbeeld vogels, kikkers en mieren). Rombouten staan erom bekend om zeer snel, vaak binnen een kwartier, uit te sluipen.
Veel soorten sluipen bij voorkeur uit in de vroege morgen, of zelfs 's nachts, omdat ze dan minder kans hebben te worden opgegeten.

Breaded Shrimp

This breaded shrimp uses pork rinds as a coating instead of the usual bread crumbs, and it actually tastes better! Plus, seasoning the shrimps with spices and parmesan helped to enhance the flavor and gave it a new taste. This is absolutely love at first bite!

Servings: 1
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ingredients:
100 grams Shrimp, shelled and deveined
1Tbsp Parmesan Cheese
¼ tsp Chili powder
¼ tsp Paprika
¼ tsp Garlic powder
¼ tsp dried Oregano
Salt, to taste
1 Tbsp Olive Oil, for frying
1 Egg, whisked
25 grams Pork rinds
1 Tbsp Mayonnaise, as dip, to serve
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Procedure:
1. Prepare two bowls: one with parmesan cheese and another one with the spices.
2. Season the shrimps with the spices.
3. Add the parmesan cheese.
4. Mix until the shrimps are fully coated. Set aside.
5. Prepare another two bowls: one with whisked egg and another one with pork rinds.
6. Dip the shrimp, one at a time into the egg.
7. Finally, coat the shrimps with pork rinds.
8. Place into a plate.
9. Now, heat olive oil in a non-stick pan.
10. Add the breaded shrimps and cook until orange in color.
11. Flip carefully and cook the other side.
12. Serve with mayonnaise as a dip.
