Today's photo fits more into the category of "gimmick" than "artistically valuable".
Here you can see the main thoroughfare through the Khao Yai National Park in Thailand. As you can see, this is a fairly hilly area (and extremely windy in places - with very tight corners) so you usually travel very slowly. I came up with the idea for this photo when I saw this sight in the rearview mirror. So of course I had to stop and put this idea into action.
A little bit of information on the side: Since the national park is quite large, it would be very tedious and time-consuming for the locals to always drive around it. However, since you have to pay entry to the park (approx. 5 €), the locals could not afford to go through in the long run. That's why Thais have an 80% reduced entrance fee.
Nevertheless, fortunately there is very little through traffic here (at least on the two days I was here). Which of course suits nature very well. However, I had to re-shoot a few times to take this photo because a car drove by. After all, my plan included not having any of them in the photo and, more importantly, not getting run over.
Das heutige Foto ist mehr der Kathegorie "Spielerei" als der "künstlerisch wertvoll" zuzuordnen.
Ihr seht hier die Hauptdurchgangsstrasse durch den Khao Yai Nationalpark in Thailand. Wie ihr erkennen könnt, ist das ein recht hügliches Gebiet (und streckenweise auch extrem kurvenreich - mit sehr engen Kurven) so dass man in der Regel sehr langsam unterwegs ist. Auf die Idee mit diesem Foto bin ich gekommen, als ich diesen Anblick hier im Rückspiegel gesehen hatte. Also musste ich natürlich auch gleich anhalten und diese Idee in die Tat umsetzen.
Kleine Info am Rande: Da der Nationalpark ziemlich groß ist, wäre es auch für die Einheimischen sehr mühsam und zeitaufwendig immer darum herum zu fahren. Da man jedoch für der Park Eintritt bezahlen muss (ca. 5 €) könnten sich die Einheimischen die Durchfahrt auf Dauer nicht leisten. Darum haben Thailänder einen um 80 % reduzierten Eintrittspreis.
Trotzdem ist hier, zum Glück, nur sehr wenig Durchgangsverkehr (zumindest an den beiden Tagen, als ich hier unterwegs war). Was der Natur natürlich sehr entgegen kommt. Trotzdem musste ich ein paar mal neu ansetzen um dieses Foto zu machen, weil ein Auto vorbei gekommen ist. Schließlich beinhaltete mein Plan keins davon auf dem Foto zu haben und was noch wichtiger war, nicht überfahren zu werden.

When it's a good fit for you and a dog, I think the important thing to them is more just to be with you than anything else. So it seemed with these two walking back to shore in the shallows after an evening paddle.
We had come here for a sunset shoot - only to find the clouds intensified despite a forecast of some clearing. Another couple there for the same reason commented that the previous two or three nights, it had been spectacular. Sigh! At least it was nice just to be outside on a warm evening.

I was expecting a light loco, which I'd planned to frame between that fine bracket signal and the house. Fortunately it was travelling slowly, having been held over in Crewe Bank loop, so a quick composition adjustment was possible as the wagons appeared in view!

Macro Monday - Squared circle
Looking down on a poppy seed head. At first I wasn't keen on this theme but then had a few ideas. This was my first idea and the one I felt worked the best, I may work on some of the other ideas when I have more time. I rarely do a square crop. I wanted a shallow depth of field to blur out the background but wonder if I should have had more sharpness on the seed head. HMM
Apologies for getting behind with commenting, once again. We've been quite busy. Our grandson has been visiting, with his parents. We've stayed in the garden and been socially distancing...not easy for a two year old to understand. We've also had zoom chats and quizzes with family and friends, vet visits with Bruno so the time seems to be disappearing. I hope to catch up soon.

This is a "selfie" taken in a place called The Valley of Dreams. If you are lost it can be the Valley of Nightmares. It has become part of my routine, getting lost at night. Thankfully there is GPS so you know you will eventually get back to the car. Go out at night, park, hike, take photos, get lost or turned around.
Anyway, this place is called the Valley of Dreams and is in the New Mexico Badlands, located south of Farmington and the Bisti Badlands, and just North of Chaco Canyon. I was looking for interesting places that are not frequented, and this really fits the bill, being located in the middle of nowhere. There are many miles of dirt roads to reach this place. There is not much information on the internet on this area, but an excellent website is: www.thewave.info/index.html. This is near the Ah-shi-sie-pah wilderness and an area called the Wilderness Study area.
This area is like Hoodoo Heaven, with small to medium hoodoos all around. The area pictured is one of the flatter areas, with a number of low ridges all around containing innumerable hoodoos. You are very unlikely to encounter other people here. The hoodoos are primarily mudstone hoodoos, with a softer base and a harder cap. The base erodes faster that the cap and creates many unique formations. More photos are just awaiting processing!
