Metulje Basin (716m a.s.l.) Represents the Lowest and Coldest part of the Partly Concave Bloke Plateau, Here the Snow Is Kept for a Long Time Especially with Clear Nights.
The formation of stratified and filmy fogs in broad daylight on snow-covered areas is the result of the contrast due to the presence of less cold and very humid air, close to saturation with water vapour.
The first snowfall (November 21) this season on the Slovenian Karst-Dinaric area was followed by some sunny days with a legacy of the mildness of the previous days.
However the long clear nights, with strong temperature inversions, allowed the snow to compact and resist the few hours of low-lying sun.

This was taken while attempting to sail on our sailing adventure in Saint Lucia we rented a boat and captain for 3 days. Saint Lucia is a sovereign island country in the eastern Caribbean Sea on the boundry with the Atlantic Ocean. We didn't really get to sail because there wasn't enough wind! This was one of my favorite images from that trip. I thought this image had kind of a "filmic" look to it.
I processed this to look as old as the old photo that eventually faded on my office wall. My favourite spot and I used a film effect filter amongst other processing as it belongs to another time. That time has passed but I continue to make new memories here because I go here still and I just remember....good times. Happy memories both old and new..

Male and female Snowy Egrets take turns incubating their eggs. As one mate takes over for the other, it sometimes presents a stick, almost as if passing a baton. Both parents continue caring for the young when they hatch.
During the breeding season, adult Snowy Egrets develop long, wispy feathers on their backs, necks, and heads. In 1886 these plumes were valued at $32 per ounce, which was twice the price of gold at the time. Plume-hunting for the fashion industry killed many Snowy Egrets and other birds until reforms were passed in the early twentieth century.
The recovery of shorebird populations through the work of concerned citizens was an early triumph and helped give birth to the conservation movement.
Adult Snowy Egrets have greenish-yellow feet for most of the year, but at the height of the breeding season their feet take on a much richer, orange-yellow hue. The bare skin on their face also changes color, from yellow to reddish.
The oldest Snowy Egret on record was at least 17 years, 7 months old. It was banded in Colorado in 1970 and found in Mexico in 1988.

I tried something a bit different with this photo. It's a hand blended 3 exposure HDR. Rather than let Lightroom do it for me, I chose to blend the photo using a series of masks in Photoshop. I wasn't happy with the colours, so B&W was an easy choice. Rather than using the standard, high contrast B&W, I lifted the black-point to about 20 to get a nice vintage film look.

It might seem a little weird taking a photo of someone in the next row, but that's the beauty of 85mm. I was actually half the carriage away. The silent electronic shutter on the R6 means you can take photos indiscreetly without disturbing the other passengers.
This is a simple shot of a sunny Hamnøy processed under the scene-referred paradigm with Darktable from RAW. You can read additional technical information in my profile (about section).
02-september-2021: the (meteorologically) early fall sun quickly dissolves the nocturnal filmy fogs and leaves full view of this largely flat basin located at 717m of altitude above sea level.
The conformation of this area favors massive night-time thermal inversions with clear skies and calm winds.
Under these weather conditions, the lowest night temperatures in all of Slovenia are often found here or in nearby Babno Polje basin, and this applies throughout the calendar year.
Last spring, in the contiguous town of Nova Vas-Bloke (719m a.s.l., ARSO official weather station), on 7 April 2021 at down, there were 21°C below zero, the lowest value ever recorded in all of Slovenia for the month of April, in 70 years of measurements.
On that occasion the basin was covered with fresh snow and hoar frost/hard rime with albedo close to 1 or total reflectance.
Minimum temperatures close to 0°C are possible, although rare, even in the heart of summer, while in winter it, relatively often, dropped to around -30°C.

After a clear and windless night, the nocturnal thermal drop, or the loss of heat from the ground to the space, called irradiation or reverse radiation, intensifies the increase in humidity until it reaches the "dew point" with the saturation of water vapor and condensation in stratified fog banks or in filmy fogs, soon dissipated by the (summer) sun.
Humidity and temperature, in a "perfect system", are inversely proportional, while in nature this law loses its full meaning, but the swing between humidity and temperature is always present, albeit in an irregular way. The "DEW POINT" is the VIRTUAL TEMPERATURE at which the air mass must fall to have the saturation of water vapor (100% relative humidity). In arid areas or on very dry days the dew point is naturally much lower than the air temperature, while in foggy or rainy weather they coincide or tend to coincide.
A low "dew point", considered the variables of a "non-perfect system", can be evaluated to predict frost or snowfall with (starting) air temperatures well above zero Celsius degree, while a high dew temperature implies a considerable potential energy load (high heat and humidity, Cape Index) and therefore can help in the prediction of extreme phenomena related to thunderstorm systems.

I love a sunburnt country,
A land of sweeping plains,

I love her jewel sea,
Her beauty and her terror —
The wide brown land for me!
The stark white ring-barked forests
All tragic ’neath the moon,
The sapphire-misted mountains,

Green tangle of the brushes

And ferns the crimson soil.

Driving through rough terrain to Ajmer followed by Pushkar on a hot summer day was quite tiring. Heat and dust in the desert state are a common combo one experiences. Took this shot of a curving road through cliffs and mountains between Ajmer and Pushkar, Rajasthan. Stark gray road in the sandy yellow surroundings of rocks and boulders looks interesting and filmy!

This is a set of pictures taken in 2022 last dawn. I enjoyed a colorful spectacle in a really quiet and nice place: "Cala del Paller" in Costa Brava.
After the sunrise, while the sun was behind some low clouds, I got these nice colors with a long exposure shot of 72 seconds and a Haida Neutral Filter of 10 steps. You can read additional technical information in my profile (about section).
