Il lago di Vagli contiene circa 35 milioni di metri cubi d'acqua ed è di origine artificiale.
Si è formato, infatti in seguito allo sbarramento del Torrente Edron e alla costruzione della diga idroelettrica, iniziata nel 1941.
Interrotti a seguito degli eventi bellici, i lavori della diga terminarono nel 1947 innalzando lo sbarramento a 65 mt prima, a 95 mt poi.
Le acque del lago, salendo di livello, arrivarono a nascondere del tutto i borghi di Pantano, Piari e Fabbriche di Careggine, e gli abitanti furono costretti ad abbandonare le proprie case.
In caso di manutenzione necessaria, il lago viene svuotato e riaffiorano le rovine di Fabbriche di Careggine, il "paese fantasma" costituito nel 1270, in epoca medievale.
Un tempo era un borgo di fabbri ferrai provenienti da Brescia, che lavoravano il ferro estratto dal Monte Tambura.
Si narra che nei periodi in cui il lago viene svuotato e il paese riemerge, gli antichi abitanti facciano ritorno alle proprie dimore.

Lunar Bird (1966)
This large bronze statue was first designed by Joan Miró in the 1940s but cast in its final version, after having been enlarged somewhat, in 1966. At this time Miró had become fascinated with cosmic themes and the relationship betwee the earth and sky. Birds had also become a recurring theme in his work, no doubt perceived as a connection between the celestial and terrestrial. Today a version of the statue can be found in the Jardines de Sabatini in Madrid, as well as by the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC.
"Joan Miró i Ferrà (/mɪˈroʊ/ mi-ROH,[1] US also /miːˈroʊ/ mee-ROH,[2][3] Catalan: [ʒuˈam miˈɾoj fəˈra]; 20 April 1893 – 25 December 1983) was a Spanish painter, sculptor and ceramicist born in Barcelona. He was known as Joan Miró in the art recognition. A museum dedicated to his work, the Fundació Joan Miró, was established in his native city of Barcelona in 1975, and another, the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró, was established in his adoptive city of Palma in 1981.
Joan Miro, earning international acclaim, his work has been interpreted as Surrealism but with a personal style, sometimes also veering into Fauvism and Expressionism.[4] He was notable for his interest in the unconscious or the subconscious mind, reflected in his re-creation of the childlike. His difficult-to-classify works also had a manifestation of Catalan pride. In numerous interviews dating from the 1930s onwards, Miró expressed contempt for conventional painting methods as a way of supporting bourgeois society, and declared an "assassination of painting" in favour of upsetting the visual elements of established painting.[5]

In the foreground, the Ferula communis is widespread in a large part of central-southern Italy and in Sicily it is present mostly in the central area, it flowers in the months of May and June and its stem with showy yellow flowers can exceed two meters high.
In the summer the dry, very light, yet compact stems are used to make small cube-shaped stools. They had various uses but the most common was to serve as a stool for shepherds during milking of sheep.

In primo piano, la Ferula communis, e' diffusa in gran parte dell’Italia centro meridionale ed in Sicilia e' presente perlopiu' nella zona centrale, fiorisce nei mesi di Maggio e Giugno ed il suo fusto dai vistosi fiori gialli, può superare i due metri di altezza.
Nel periodo estivo i fusti secchi, leggerissimi, eppure compatti, vengono utilizzati per farne piccoli sgabelli a forma di cubo, avevano usi svariati ma il più comune era quello di fungere da sgabello ai pastori durante la mungitura delle pecore.

Unincorporated Rainbow, Ohio is said to be named after Rainbow Creek which runs into the Muskingum River. However, if you look at a map you'll see that the latter takes on an appearance of a rainbow with it's long sweeping curve with a second curve sweeping away. Dare I say "Double Rainbow!?" A giant "ess" curve is what thousands of years of erosion created and is "Rainbow". The Belpre Industrial Parkersburg Railroad follows the alignment of the river closely. Rainbow is a location where there is somewhere you can get a shot of a northbound train or a southbound and it will be in good light anytime of day due to the curves. Here we find #478 and #578 southbound after completing work at Ferra-Globe in Relief on the first sweeping curve.

Os abelharucos são aves de pequeno a médio porte, com bico longo, comprimido lateralmente e um pouco curvado. A cauda é bem marcada e geralmente arredondada. A plumagem dos abelharucos é colorida, em tons de verde vivo com manchas de outras cores na zona da garganta, barriga e/ou dorso. Não há dimorfismo sexual notório.
Os abelharucos têm uma alimentação baseada em insetos, principalmente abelhas e vespas, como o seu próprio nome comum do grupo indica. As presas são caçadas em voo e antes de ingerir a sua refeição, o abelharuco retira o ferrão do inseto esmagando-o contra uma superfície dura.

Il lago di Vagli si trova nel comune di Vagli Sotto in provincia di Lucca nelle Alpi Apuane e si è formato artificialmente con lo sbarramento del Torrente Edron nel 1947 da parte della SELT Valdarno (oggi ENEL s.p.a.) e la costruzione di una diga idroelettrica .Nel 1948 sono stati portati a termine i lavori della diga con il susseguente innalzamento a 92 metri.
Le acque del lago salendo hanno sommerso alcuni borghi tra i quali il principale era Fabbriche di Careggine, piccolo borgo di fabbri ferrai bresciani, fondato nel XIII secolo, che riemerge a ogni svuotamento del lago.
Il lago contiene 70 milioni di metri cubi d'acqua e viene svuotato eccezionalmente nel caso sia necessario un intervento di manutenzione. L'ultima volta è stato svuotato nel 1994. Ci sono state voci successivamente smentite di un possibile svuotamento in programma per il 2016.
