DOWN WITH THE BRUTAL POLICE ACTION ON WORKERS!! .
.
DOWN WITH THE ANTI-WORKER CONGRESS GOVERNMENT!!.
.
. Date: 26-07-05 .
'Yesterday, in one of the most brutal incidents of police repression, hundreds of demonstra~1ng workers of the Honda.
Friends .
Factory were mercilessly beaten up by the police at Gurgaon. Over the last few months, the workers 1n the Honda Factory were demanding the re-instatement of those workers wh~ '!'ere dism!ssed by the management an.d for the reco.gnitio~ of their uni~n. Yesterday when they were sitting nearby the Mmt Secretanat hoping to en~ the confttct through dtscuss1on, th.e pollee surrounded them from all sides, so that no one could escape and started to lathtcharge them. As a result of such an Inhuman attack of the police, more than 700 workers were severely injured. There are reports of many agitating workers still missing since .
It is noteworthy that in the recent past it has been the first major agitation of workers against the exploitative MNCs,.
yesterday. We would not be surprised if there are some cases of deaths. .
incident during the British rule. Even today the police continued to repress the protesters at Gurgaon while on the other hand the.
particularly in the North India. The brutality of the police action on the unarmed workers can be compared with the Jallianwala .
activists and protesters from all walks of life have intensified the agitation against the Honda-Hooda nexus in Haryana. We .
demand that an enquiry be conducted for the role of Haryana Chief Minister and Industry Minister in yesterday's police .
crackdown on agitating workers. We also demand that those police officers who were engaged in beating up the agitating .
workers should immediately be suspended. The government must ensure proper compensation to the injured persons and an .
immediate inquiry be conducted into certain reports of missing persons. At the same time the government must positively .
address the issues for which the workers of Honda factory were agitating. Today, the left parties and the left mass organizations registered a strong protest in Delhi at Haryana Bhava.n and other .
...
places. The Delhi police complimented their counterparts in Haryana by attempting to obstruct the protesters coming from Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Naida etc. However, the spontaneous Chakka Jam at Mandi House had forced the police to retract. The strong demonstration at Haryana Bhavan too witnessed the high-handedness of police when it manhandled women activists and injured many protesters by using the water canon. We warn the police and the ruling Congress establishment against such .
dictatorial methods and appeal to the student community to raise its voice against this kind of state repression. In last few months, the BJP government in Rajasthan too has used brutal force against the farmers who were agitating .
on the issue of water. This has resulted in the killings of many farmers in Ganganagar and its surrounding districts. As the Hooda .
government in Haryana has surrendered before the MNC at the cost of the workers, the BJP government in Rajasthan has chosen to snatch away the farmers' right over the water. .
In the sharp contrast to these state brutalities against the workers and farmers, the heartening news is that the long .
strike of Tea garden workers in West Bengal called by the Joint Trade Union platform under the leadership of CITU and AITUC .
had been successfully'concluded yesterday. The Labour Minister of West Bengal himself sat in the negotiation with the owners .
deal with the demands of the workers instead of taking and making favours to the MNCs. Instead of supporting the workersof the tea industry and facilitated the discussion in favour of the workers demand. Randeep Singh Surjewala should learn how to .
demands the ruling establishment in Haryana chose to side with the Honda company and the Industry minister of Haryana, .
Randeep Singh Surjewala openly criticized the ongoing workers' agitation. However, it is not surprising that the Congress has unleashed such repression against the workers. It was the .
Congress which started to sell off the interests of the country to imperialist interests by initiating the policies of globalization in .
our country. In the past, it was the same Congress which had imposed emergency on the people of the country robbing them of all democratic rights. It was the same Congress that had unleashed semi-fascist terror against the Left activists in several parts of the country. The present Congress government at the centre is pursuing the same set of nee-liberal economic policies which the previous BJP led NDA government was following. The Congress is yet to take lessons from the 2004 verdict in which the NDA got a fitting rebuff for pursuing the process of economic reforms. We would like to remind the Congress that the left support .
it has been enjoying is not to curtail and attack the working class' rights in our country but to provide the possible relief to them. .
Along with the agenda of nee-liberalism, the onslaught on the working class movement is continuously increasing. In an .
age of global capitalism and imperialist globalization with the agenda of liberalization, privatization and globalization; the greed of the big metropolitan capital has started to spread its tentacles in developing countries where economic deprivation, accentuating .
appeal to the student community to unite against these tyrannical policies of privatization and liberalization and stand in solidarityunemployment, denial of democratic rights and political oppression goes hand in hand in third world countries like India. We .
with the working class movement in our country. .
