River Else near Kirchlengern sunset

February, the shortest month of winter, brings mists and rain.

"Late February days; and now, at last, Might you have thought that winter's woe was past; So fair the sky was and so soft the air."

~ William Morris

Taken on Saltburn Pier, Saltburn-By-The-Sea, Cleveland on 01/02/2016.

Visited our local botanic gardens today and had a marvelous time!! The weather was delightful with lots of sunshine and good company. This was taken with my Lensbaby Sol.

............what a welcome burst of color on this gray morning !

just for a few days then it felt like spring was coming!

view to the swamps on River Czarna; some years ago the local beavers decided to show stupid humans what real landscape architecture is so this is the reasult!

Please forgive my excitement for having seen this male Comma in the garden today! It was unseasonably warm enough to sit out for a bit today and along came this beauty and stayed while I dashed for the macro lens 😊!!

It isn't the shot I intended for this weeks theme but as it gave a February 'lift' to me, I hope it does you too!!

Snow covered Cottage Lake, Woodinville, WA.

Even more strange than yesterday, to do an upload of the frozen white world; so this has to be the last one... three photos, from the beginning to the end of this long week like a dream.

Today... spring is in the air, with singing and nest-building birds, sun shining and streaming water...

Between Winter and Spring

Found this yucca plant remains and yes, did place it on the fence.

February in the Italian Gardens, Trentham Park, Staffordshire.

The statues of Perseus and Medusa can be seen at the far end, by the lake. In the far distance, on the hill, the monument to the Duke Of Sutherland can be seen more clearly . The name of the woods surrounding the monument is Kings Wood, an ISSI and an ancient woodland. The gardens at Trentham Hall were designed by Capability Brown 1716 - 1783.

A sunny but chilly day for our walk around the lake. The circular lakeside walk is a distance of over two miles. It takes you aside the River Trent, by the bird hide, through the cascading weir, past the Lakeside Cafe, along atmospheric woodland trails and through the annual meadow with giant dandelion sculptures. Plus numerous fairy sculptures and wooden carvings to see along the way.

February - Winter Photo 8

A photo looking across the south end of Rock Creek Lake from the fishing pier. The melting ice and snow makes fascinating patterns across the lake's surface.
