"Macro Mondays" this week's theme "Summer Olympic Sports" HMM

Since 1992, badminton has been a Summer Olympic sport with five events: men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles.

The shuttlecock cone is formed from 16 or so overlapping feathers, usually goose or duck, embedded into a rounded cork base. The cork is covered with thin leather. To ensure that shuttlecock rotate consistently, only feathers from the birds' left wings are used. Feather shuttles may come off the strings at speeds in excess of 320 km/h (200 mph).

Smile on saturday theme "FEATHERS"

I found these little feathers on the grass that were plucked out together during a fight between two house sparrows while I was visiting my friend. The screeching of them called our attention but luckily they stopped fighting then went their own way.

... crazy tuesday ... negative space ...

Macro Monday's theme is "low key".

These are three macaw feathers (two down feathers from our Green Wing and one small feather from our Hahns-mini macaw). The total frame measures about 1 1/2 inches. I placed a measurement photo in the first comment box.

Feeding birds are forever retreating suddenly to their hideyholes when spooked on our patio. But there is no need to call in Scotland Yard's Flying Squad... A tiny telltale feather clinging to the leaf of our Clematis montana has given away one of their haunts ... :-))

Often Herring Gulls can look pretty mucky because of their foraging but this glorious adult was immaculate.

Mute Swan [Cygnus olor]

Cold, blustery and very windy day...lots of swans in the harbour doing just this!

They weren’t actually asleep - their legs and feet were still paddling. Every now and then one would stick his head up, have a look around and then snuggle back down.

A stern looking Javan myna is protecting a feather it found. In Fort Canning, Singapore. It got too hot for sightseeing. So I stopped to look for birds in the shade.

Great Egret preening...

With the feathers you are found, you can build yourself something beautiful. I was lucky to get some pale lens flares too.

a little feather I found yesterday. For 'Smile on Saturday', the theme is "Feathers".

Being on vacation I had to use one of my parents feathers that they have kept. This one was a feather from a hawk that visits them often.
