One of my favourite FWD cars!

How huge? fully loaded the car and load weighed 1 million pounds, There was only one and it is currently on display in Altoona, Pennsylvania. It was built in Altoona in 1952, at the time of completion the largest piece of rolling stock in the world. It was typically used to ship Westinghouse turbo-generators. To be moved, it required special orders on or off the PRR. CLICK TO ENLARGE AND VIEW FULL SIZE!!!

This high-speed, needle-nosed experimental aircraft was built to support the development of the Concorde programme. The delta-wing Fairey Delta FD2 was converted to the British Aircraft Corporation BAC 221 WG774 and reached Mach 1.6 (1,060 mph) thanks to a Rolls-Royce Avon 28 with a thrust of 9,300 lb, 13,100 lb with reheat. This iconic blue jet is on display at the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton alongside Concorde 002 G-BSST.

DBM 123 is a VDL Futura FHD2 129.360 new to Hamish Gordon of Leslie in May 2017 as M4VDL.

On disposal it gained the SR17 HGD plate and joined the MacPhail of Salsburgh fleet where it has since gained the dateless DBM 123 plate.

It is seen here on the Isle of Mull heading for the Craignure ferry back to the Scottish mainland.

Some fun with "BeFunky" Photo editor.

The famous Fairey Delta 2, was the first aircraft in the world to reach 1000mph. Two aircraft were built, WG774 and WG777. They were designed to research characteristics of high speed flight.

WG774 also set the world speed record of 1132mph in 1956. It held this record for a year until the emergence of the XF-101 Voodoo. WG774 was rebuilt and redesignated BAC 221, it was used to test the Ogival delta wing being proposed for Concorde.

WG774 is preserved at the FAA museum and WG777 is seen here at the RAF museum cosford on 24/11/2017.

The fabulous and unique BAC221 WG774 on display in the Concorde Hall at the FAA Museum, Yeovilton

WG774 started life as one of a pair of Fairey Delta 2 high speed research aircraft and was picked to test the proposed Ogee wing planform to be used on Concorde

Conversion took place by adding the new wing plan-form along with relocated and re-designed engine intakes, a new undercarriage utilising Lightning main legs and wheels plus a Fairey Gannet nose leg and wheels

The FD.2 already had a droop nose system emulating that proposed on Concorde and with a lengthened fuselage of some six feet, the 221 was longer and taller than it's original configuration

Here's a good comparison in model form to demonstrate the differences:

PS. Forgive the difference in the paint shade of blue - I only had Black & White photos of her when I made these and that red stripe didn't show on them
