The Hotel Faust, originally the Travelers Hotel, was built in New Braunfels in 1929 according to the design of Harvey Partridge Smith from San Antonio. Smith was a prominent, early 20th-century Texas architect known throughout the southern and central parts of the state. The hotel is astylistic in design, and exhibits rich use of stone detailing recalling the Spanish Renaissance Revival Style. A fine example of 1920s, medium-rise hotel architecture in Texas, the Faust was the major Depression-era construction project in New Braunfels. It is today one of the largest buildings in the Central Texas community. In 1936 the hotel was renamed to commemorate the contributions to New Braunfels of a prominent pioneer family and a contemporary son of that family, Walter Faust, who played a decisive role in the hotel's construction. The Faust Hotel reflects the tastes and business prominence of Walter and others who were responsible for its founding. It also reflects an era of New Braunfels' history just prior to the Great Depression. (1)

Entlang der Stadtbahn und der Bahnstrecke von Gesundbrunnen zum Hauptbahnhof finden sich an der Bahnanlagen gelbe Graffitis. Es handelt sich um Fäuste sowie die Form des Sternes von Bethlehem.
Hier eine gelbe Faust an einem Schaltkasten im Bereiches des Bahnhofes Friedrichstrasse.
(Etwas mit der Farbsättigung gespielt, allgemein runter, Gelb angehoben.)

Large pond or small lake. A tight patch of these along one secluded spot. Water seemed dirty and brackish. Saw some Canada geese swimming in it. I recall living up north and seeing thousands of them in plowed fields or crowding into spots of standing water. When ever I see them I think, "Geese, it's what's for dinner". For some very strange reason, they are a protected species. They are foul and disgusting. At one time we had a boil water order in Aurora because they had polluted the Fox River with goose crap. Can you imagine how many it takes to pollute a freaking river? I say, "Eat em!"
Anyway, these few meager cattails did make for a placid scene.

"Faust" als Einpersonenstück
Am 21. April 2015 lud die Deutsche Botschaft Wien zu einer ungewöhnlichen Aufführung des "Faust" von Johann Wolfgang von Goethe ins Theater Nestroyhof - Hamakom ein.
Haydar Zorlu interpretierte den "Faust" in eigener Interpretation. In einem furiosen 80-minütigen Ein-Personen-Stück stellte er in rasanten Rollenwechseln und mit artistischen Einlagen Dr. Faust, Mephisto, Gretchen, Gretchens Bruder und ihre Nachbarin dar, alle auf eine jeweils typische Art.
Zorlu, in Istanbul geboren, kam als Kind nach Deutschland. Er studierte dort Rechts- und Politikwissenschaften, Germanistik, Romanistik und Pädagogik sowie Schauspiel in New York. Bekannt ist er durch viele Fernsehrollen in Deutschland und Österreich. Seit 2011 leitet er das von ihm gegründete deutsch-türkische Theater SanatOdasi/Kunstraum in Istanbul.
Das kunstverwöhnte Wiener Publikum war von der Aufführung begeistert und quittierte sie mit viel Beifall und angeregten Diskussionen beim anschließenden Empfang.

`Goethes Faust als Ein-Mann-Performance
Nahm Goethes „Faust“ als Herausforderung an und spielte den Klassiker auf erfrischende Weise: Haydar Zorlu .
BUXTEHUDE. Ein roter Stuhl vor schwarzem Vorhang: Das reicht Haydar Zorlu als Kulisse, vor der er in alle Rollen schlüpft, die der „Faust“ bietet. Mal spielt er den düsteren Dr. Heinrich Faust, mal den teuflischen Mephisto und dann das zarte Gretchen, ihren braven Bruder oder die Hexe. Jedes Mal so authentisch, dass die Zuschauer am Mittwochabend im Halepaghentheater gebannt an seinen Lippen hängen.
Abwechselnd laut und dann wieder leise rezitiert er seinen Monolog nach dem Schauspiel von Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Das Drama bringt er, wie im Vorspiel angekündigt, entstaubt und lebendig auf die Bühne. Haydar Zorlu, 1967 in der Türkei geboren und später in Köln aufgewachsen, zeigt wirklich und wahrhaftig einen „fesselnden Rollentanz“. Mit ausdrucksstarker Mimik und Gestik interpretiert er den „Faust“ völlig neu. Die akrobatische Rolle vorwärts oder rückwärts gehört dazu, wie der plötzliche Sprung von der Bühne.
Mittendrin fragt er das Publikum, wie es weitergeht oder wie die Nachbarin von Gretchen heißt. Oder er verschenkt sein Manuskript, auf das er ohnehin nicht ein einziges Mal schaut. Eine beachtliche Leistung: 80 Minuten lang das Publikum mit einem Klassiker zu unterhalten, der nicht gerade einfache Verse beinhaltet, die er nicht nur auswendig dahersagt, sondern mit viel Seele und Herzblut vorträgt.
Die deutsche Version wollten fast 200 Zuschauer sehen, darunter einige Schüler. Für seinen „Faust“ auf Türkisch fanden sich keine Fans, weshalb die Aufführung gestern ausfiel. Dafür war die Aufführung auf Deutsch unter der Regie von Natalia Murariu jede Sekunde wert. Das Publikum war derart hingerissen, dass es am Schluss beinah vergaß, zu applaudieren. Der Beifall kam dann aber doch noch und hörte sich nach ehrlicher Begeisterung an.´
