A gentle giant crossing the pedestrian zone of Favoriten, the 10th district of Vienna. Below him he found a very peaceful community, composed of many different origins. Nothing reminded him of the disturbances caused by the despicable Turkish president Erdogan and his far-right supporters last week.

I know what goes on. Evil forces holding us captive. Don’t believe what they say. Don’t read their books or study their crooked journalism. Don’t watch their TV channels. Whatever they tell you will be fake. Listen to yourself and find the truth inside you. Liberate yourself! Find likeminded people and begin to understand how the establishment manipulates your brain with falsehoods, disempowers you by stealing the vote, controls you with vaccination programmes, and hides from you their sexual perversions. Join us in privileged knowledge. God is on our side!

You think you are a citizen of the world, but in fact you are a citizen of nowhere! You are seeing the world from the wrong angle! You are not really in the know! You shouldn’t believe everything you read in your leftist or communist papers! Listen instead to the people who are special and who are true patriots! Listen to those with privileged knowledge!

Photojournalism from an Anti-Trump demonstration in George Square, Glasgow, in July 2018.

Glaswegians going all out on the signs, I thought this was a particularly poignant juxtaposition at the time.

I hate to post politics here on Flickr and I am not sharing my political views. I am, however, expressing my humanity, empathy, compassion and understanding of science.

We have the President of the USA tearing up and deleting peer reviewed science on sex, gender, reproductive medicine, vaccines, cancer research and climate science.

They burned the books in 1933.

Now we have the President of the USA openly talking about the removal and relocation of millions of people, from their homeland, with no challenge from our mainstream media and Netanyahu sitting beside him smiling. A war crime. Ethnic cleansing. Completely unchallenged.

If you ever wonder how the world watched and waited for Adolf Hitler to tear up the borders across Europe and commit atrocities against millions of people, then open your eyes and ears right now.

The mainstream media are ignoring a great number of desperately important issues right now because it doesn't suit the narrative of their billionaire owners and manipulators. Ignoring the rise of fascism is just the latest of their complicity.

Again, I post this simply because I care. I care about us, humans, our world, our survival and our place in the universe.

Hate only ever leads to suffering.

DOUBLE AGAINST RIGHTISTS

Young mother of twins before the Thursday demonstration against the Austrian far-right government

Do you think someone needs to order me to decapitate the evil people? No need! I am alienated anyway, I feel enraged with a massive sense of wrong, I do no longer reflect and be hesitant because I have got certainty now! I deeply believe in the pap of far-right propaganda. I have got my grievance and I know what the prompt remedy is! If you are a liberal or a communist or whatever, your head is no longer safe! You enemies of mine have not understood that my violence is not just the "relief of my aggression" - it is much more than that. Violence is the acting out of my truth, it is part of my liturgy, and it confirms my faith.

Street photography from Glasgow, Scotland.

Captured in April 2019 as a counter-protest started to gather in George Square in response to an anti-abortion rally that was taking place.

Women's rights have been trampled on once again. Freedoms removed, not by an ultra-religious group such as the Taliban but by an ultra-religious group of Christian Supreme Court Judges in America. Different religions, different Gods perhaps, but the same demands of dominance over women. A dystopia, not unlike The Handmaid's Tale, where women are treated no differently than livestock. Where guns have more rights than women!

Don't think for a minute that the extreme right-wing appointments by Former President Trump will stop at abortion. There are already rumblings that they are coming after right to contraception and same-sex marriage.

Don't think for a minute that this only applies to the USA. Some Conservative politicians here have congratulated the result on Twitter and our own rights are about to be stripped away under the so-called 'Bill of Rights' that will be passing through parliament soon.

Freedoms are under attack by far right governments around the world. If we don't stand up for our rights and freedoms, in support of each other, then we all lose in the end!

Remember: First they came...

If we don't speak out they will come, ultimately, for you.

*I can't believe I have to say any of this in 2022. We cannot take any of our freedoms for granted.

Welcome to the far right circus of the new government of The Netherlands

November 11, 2020. News of minor progress:

In the Netherlands a right-wing political party called "Forum voor Democratie" is disintegrating through self-purification, after the party leader supported repeated racist and anti semitic statements from inside the youth section.

I participated in a demonstration against the far right for the first time. Neo-Nazis were demonstrating in the Dutch town of Apeldoorn, and a counter-demonstration had also been organized. I joined the latter.

My neighbourhood in Favorten is burning. I spent ten days in my home town Augsburg, but read the news about what was going on in my neighbourhood in Favoriten, the 10th district of Vienna.

On Wednesday there was a demonstration of Kurdish women and supporters against feminicides in Turkey and Austria. It was attacked by a Grey-Wolves-lead Erdogan-supporting mob.

On Thursday and this Friday, when I came back from Germany, there were demonstrations against this fascist violence with lots of police, some of them with wicked dogs, preventing the Erdogan mob from attacking the demonstrators. There were several groups trying to do so. This is one of them.

The € 1,500 the Christchurch killer donated to Martin Sellner, head of the Austrian Identitarians, causes trouble in the right-wing Austrian government coalition. The killer and the Identitarians share the nationalist far-right conspiracy theory of the "great replacement", the only difference between them is that the Identitarians reject violence - "for tactical reasons", as Sellner says.

When the relations between the Christchurch killer and the Austrian Identitarians became known, the Austrian People's Party chancellor Sebastian Kurz felt the necessity of urging his far-right coalition partner, the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ), to distance themselves from the Identitarians. But this isn't exactly easy, for the Identitarians and the FPÖ are too closely personally connected, they're almost like conjoined twins. Nevertheless the leaders of the party tried to comply by words, but the party's base is crying shame and scandal and attacking Sebastian Kurz, calling him a Soros follower, which in their eyes is as insulting as calling him a son of a bitch...

Don’t worry! Josef has been free for over four years.

The process against Josef S. in the year 2014 has become historical and it isn’t exactly a badge of honour for Austria’s justice and rule of law. If you speak German, you can read the detailed Wikipedia article about this Kafkaesque process: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prozess_gegen_Josef_S.

In Austria Josef S. was sentenced for disturbing the peace and attempted grievous bodily harm after a demonstration against the so-called Akademikerball ("Graduates Ball") in the Hofburg in Vienna, which is given every year by a union of right-wing and far right fraternities, the official organizer being the FPÖ (which is a government party now). In his German hometown Jena he was awarded a prize for moral courage, while he has still in his six months pre-trial detention in this beautiful country called Austria. In his forced absence the prize was received by his sister from the hands of the city's Lord Mayor, Albrecht Schröter.

I took this picture in Favoriten, the 10th district of Vienna.

KICKL NEEDS TO BE REMOVED!

This ball is given every year by a union of right-wing and far right fraternities, the official organizer being the FPÖ, which is a government party now.

By the way there isn't anything astonishing about far-right FPÖ Interior Minister Kickl's statement. Far-right government parties will always try to abolish the rule of law in order to push their inhuman politics through.

"CEU is ranked as one of the world's top universities in social sciences.

[It] was founded in 1991 by hedge fund manager, political activist, and philanthropist George Soros." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_European_University

"Mr. Orban has long viewed the school as a bastion of liberalism, presenting a threat to his vision of creating an “illiberal democracy,” and his desire to shut it down was only deepened by its association with Mr. Soros, a philanthropist who was born in Hungary.

Mr. Orban has spent years demonizing Mr. Soros, a Jew who survived the Nazi occupation of Hungary, accusing him of seeking to destroy European civilization by promoting illegal immigration, and often tapping into anti-Semitic tropes." www.nytimes.com/2018/12/03/world/europe/soros-hungary-cen...

"The university was a casualty of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s turn toward authoritarianism, his development of a quietly repressive system that I’ve termed “soft fascism.” CEU, a university dedicated to liberal principles and founded by Hungarian-American billionaire George Soros, posed a threat to Orbán’s ideological project. So he put in place a set of characteristically sneaky regulations aimed at forcing out CEU without needing to formally ban them, eventually crushing the university’s ability to operate." www.vox.com/world/2018/12/4/18123754/hungary-ceu-orban-so...

One Step for a Nation, One step for Humanity?

Where is the Mr. or Ms. Smith when we need them the most? Maybe this will be the person and he or she has arrived in Washington to help the little guy and do the right thing for our nation & for the world.

Our nation is at a cross road and the path ahead isn't very clear to many of us. Whoever wins this election the road ahead for them will be always full of political situations and obstacles that will always be changing, that will be the true challenge. I pray that those decisions will reflect the best interest of the average individual of this nation.

And not one person vendetta!

Or is this just a pipe dream that I'm having again?

"Marsch für die Familie" ("March for the Family") is a demonstration held in Vienna every year at the same time as the Rainbow Parade. It's organized by the "Plattform Familie", a melting pot of right-wing conservative Christian and far-right groups.

The Rainbow Parade usually "takes place in the Austrian capital every year in support of equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people." But this year the whole celebration was cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic. Thus the rejoicing marchers for the family became the main demonstrators and the supporters of Vienna Pride, who usually form an overwhelming majority, became counterdemonstrants only approximately equal in number.

The provocatice ladies on the right picture sought the nearness to the familiy marchers, and I sought the opportunity to take a picture of this. I'm afraid none of us succeeded. I took these photos on Stephansplatz, where both demonstrations started, more or less separated by the police.

Noticed this poster in an overlooking office window just after it all died down.

This ball is given every year by a union of right-wing and far right fraternities, the official organizer being the FPÖ, which is a government party now.

There have been yearly demonstrations against this far-right event for many years. But Strache's far-right Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) isn't an opposition party anymore. It's a government party now, and the senior coalition partner, Austrian People's Party, has pursued right-wing populist policies, which resemble FPÖ's policies very much, since Sebastian Kurz has become chairman. So this demonstration was also a demonstration against Austria's current government.

London, UK, 13 September 2025. Around 20,000 anti-racists participated in a march from Russell Square to Whitehall called by Stand Up to Racism (SUTR) to protest the far-right 'Unite the Kingdom' rally called by Tommy Robinson. The fascists mobilised around 100,000 people and blocked all the exits from Whitehall forcing the anti-racists to wait for hours while the police cleared a path for them to leave.

As to Strache I cite an article of the Guardian:

"Austria’s deputy leader has said his party is fighting against a “replacement” of the native population, endorsing a term usually employed by the extreme right, as the country’s rightwing populists double down on their rhetoric before the European elections.

Heinz-Christian Strache, the deputy chancellor in Austria’s conservative-nationalist coalition government and the leader of the far-right Freedom party (FPÖ), told the Krone newspaper on Sunday that his party was “consistently following the path for our Austrian homeland, the fight against population replacement, as people expect of us.”

When the interviewer interjected to say “population replacement” was a term associated with rightwing extremists, Strache replied that it was “a term of reality”, adding: “We don’t want to become a minority in our own country. That’s legitimate and fair and deeply democratic.”

The term “great replacement”, which originated in a 2012 book of the same title (Le Grand Remplacement) by a French author, Renaud Camus, has been taken up by rightwing extremist groups and was the title of a “manifesto” written by the gunman who carried the attacks in Christchurch, New Zealand, in March..."

Independence Day march.

Tens of thousands of people took part in the annual demonstration in Warsaw on November 11, 2022 to mark Poland's Independence Day. The event was organized by far-right groups but also attracted conservative citizens.

In front of the headquarters of the ÖVP, which has moved a significant distance to the right and is now in coalition talks with the far-right FPÖ party ("Freedom Party"). This was the destination of the demonstration, but at most a third of the 30,000 or so demonstrators found space in the street. There was a tailback right into the street before the last intersection.

"The leader of the anti-immigration, pro-Russia Freedom Party has been given the chance to try to form a government after months of coalition talks among mainstream parties collapsed." www.nytimes.com/2025/01/06/world/europe/austria-coalition...

The FPÖ won the last election with 28.85% of the vote, while the ÖVP received 26.27%. Despite the small difference, the FPÖ is now demanding gestures of humility and submission from the ÖVP in the coalition negotiations. The fact that the party is getting involved at all is evidence of the complete depravity of the once great Christian Democratic party.

Herbert Kickl's FPÖ is striving for an Austria modelled on Hungary's illiberal democracy. This would be the end of the Second Republic.

As the far right rises across Europe. Looks as if Greece is finally getting tough on Golden Dawn.
