This was our first view of the broadbill, and we wondered why it was called the Black-and-yellow, when it appeared to be pink and blue. A stunning little bird that seemed to be totally unfazed by all the fangirling going on below.

When new music comes out, I typically let the songs settle in; I listen to them a few times, then I might push them to the side and come back later to listen again. That's exactly what I did with the new song from Måneskin's front man, Damiano David. However, after my first listen, I could not push it aside, and I just kept replaying it instead. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm totally head over heels with Damiano David, and I have no shame in embarrassing myself with my over-the-top fangirling behavior. Ha!
The lyrics make perfect sense for me for where I am in my life. They resonate so strongly. Once you find your peace, your whole life takes on a different meaning, even direction. I now know and live the true meaning of "as your circle gets smaller, your vision gets clearer."
A lot of changes are happening in my life right now, and I welcome them with open arms. The packing boxes... not so much! Ha! Yes! I'm in the middle of a move in RL. I'm so excited! A new chapter in my life has begun!

Milou felt strange. She felt weirdly tiny, and as if she were hovering at a great height, being attached to... wait a minute! Was that Tintin's trench coat? How did she get there? And why? Was this a dream? She tried to move, to get off her beloved master's coat. But whatever it was that kept her in place didn't budge. Oh no! This was a proper nightmare! Was Tintin mad at her for dropping the message and taking the bone? Everything was good in the end; there was a happy ending, and it wasn't her fault! "Please, Tintin, let me down, I'm a good dog!" she yelped. From a distance, she heard a familiar voice, repeating her name. "Milou! Milou? Wake up, sleepy head. Professor Calculus called; he needs our help. Go and find Captain Haddock, we're off to a new adventure!" With a jolt of relief, she was on her four legs, shaking off the last remnants of that horrible dream, and she happily ran to her master, madly wagging her tail. Then she raced through Marlinspike Hall as if there was no tomorrow, barking: "Haddock, Haddock! A new adventure was waiting. Life was good.
I've always been a huge fan of the Tintin books (next to Asterix), especially Hergé's later work (and except for the first two books), but I'd always assumed that Snowy (in German: Struppi) was a male fox terrier. But when I learned that "his" original name was Milou, named after Hergé's first love, I wasn't so sure anymore. Milou sure is a boy, both as Snowy/Struppi, but as Milou? Dear French-speaking Flickr friends, please help me out with this, merci beaucoup :)
I have a few Tintin-related fangirl things, such as two Tintin figures and the moon rocket as key fobs, Snowy in the red racing car and Tintin as photographer as metal keyrings (actually on my keys for ages), Tintin and Snowy as fairly large, poseable dolls (only Tintin has articulating parts), and two pin badges, one of Tintin riding a motorbike, and the other one of Snowy with the bone. The badge on its own looked nice, but I wanted to add a story element, so I placed the key fob of standing Tintin with his coat on and hands in pockets, behind the Snowy badge. The first idea was to include Tintin's reflection, but the reflection was too long (or the tiny badge too small – or both), and it made the background too busy, so I "limited" the reflection to Snowy's.
It's a single shot, illuminated only from the left and right. Size info: The Snowy pin badge is 1,8 cm/0,7 inches long.

"Sky's The Limit" is a song from 1990 by Soul and R&B band Tony! Toni! Toné!, and when I processed this photo, that old song started to play in my head. What also immediately came to mind was the very last scene of the final episode of "Star Trek Next Generation" (one of my most-favoured TV shows of all time) where TNG's main characters meet for their regular poker game, and Cpt. Picard joins them. His words "Five-card stud, nothing wild... and the sky's the limit..." are TNG's final sentence.
But enough of this fangirl stuff. "Sky's the limit" is certainly true for that bird up there soaring Berlin's skies freely. But what about the other birds in the frame, the ones you can't see? Because the "net/mesh and steel frame" in my image belongs to two large aviaries at the Kranzler Eck's patio (the former Café Kranzler was West Berlin's most well-known café). Despite being located at the busy heart of City West, the patio is a pretty relaxed place with not too many visitors, and the aviaries are spacious and also offer enough shelter for about 100 birds (mostly parakeets, but not only) who greet the visitors with quite some noise.
Processed in... well, Color Efex is what I remember because I did the finishing touches in that programme today, but this image has been a work in progress for a while so I don't recall all the single steps (as usual).
Please note that the info on the lens is wrong. I had used my Laowa 7.5mm F/2 lens, but had forgotten to change the lens info settings in the camera, so it still "thought" I'm using the 6mm lens which I'd borrowed earlier from my Mom, magrit k..

The boss lady, Hera (zee9) at her latest Blade Runner sim. Hera is one of the best, most prolific, most imaginative sim builders in SL. I have been taking photos at her fantasy, gothic and sci-fi sims for 15 years – Golgothica, Nomos, Kingdom of Sand, Goatswood, Venexia, Shangri-La, Whitby, Phaedra, Drune, Blade Runner (I’m sure I have missed some). I spent a pleasant evening chatting with her about Second Life atop a building in BRFN. I was in serious fangirl mode, and she was charming.
... comes with something new! For Christmas, I was gifted a Wacom tablet. This is my first art tablet /ever/ and I am really excited to see how it changes and betters my art! Consider this image numero uno in the use of it.
I didn't actually do very much to this picture. I'll include a link of the original below to show what I mean. I really can't praise Anya Ohmai's tutorials enough, truly, and I'm not being fangirl over here, I promise. I've just seen drastic improvements in the snapshots I take now and that makes the overall image easier to finish and better, IMO. :]

Last weekend I received this lovely bicycle as an early Mother's Day gift. It's been years since I've ridden a bike and since I'm a little behind on the SP Project, I decided to go up the street and zip about on it.*
True or false:
It's like riding a bicycle. You never forget. Sort of true. Balancing and pedaling came back immediately, but the hopping on and off and braking will take more time to master to ensure I don't endanger anyone or look like a complete fool.
According to a review, you can wear a dress when riding this bike. True, especially with the low step-thru frame. However a black skirt requires some 'hitching up' but is still quite comfortable and you retain your modesty at all times! :D
Melburnians only wear black in winter. Apparently this is still true. It's a long held view but in this case, I wore black to contrast with the surroundings.
It's ridiculously complicated to take a SP like this. True! There were 3 shots where I was actually in frame. They're all out of focus but at least you're unable to see the look of terror on my face! :D
I took this shot alongside a private residence at the end of my street. As I live in an older suburb of Melbourne, it's reasonably common to see old corner shops like this, usually attached to a smaller house, that have been renovated to become one single home. Notice the different brickwork where a doorway must have once stood.
The old bluestone edging along the road is a feature that has been retained by the local council. Many of the old laneways are still paved with their original cobbled bluestone. With residential development going crazy, it's nice to see these pieces of history retained.
* Safety first. I have a helmet but it wasn't featured here as I wasn't riding on the road and also, it's not very stylish.

My love for The Beatles is starting to border on a mild obsession. It's true. So when I went to FNAC yesterday, with Joana and Sofia, and saw that there was a vinyl section, I giggled like a fangirl. And I giggled even louder when I was taking the shot in the comments and realized that Abbey Road was right in front of my eyes. OH, I love it so much. It's so absolutely brilliant, isn't it?
