One of these days I'm going to kill myself. Although you cannot see it in this shot, there is a large tree that had fallen over this small river just behind where I took this shot. While bushwhacking my way through this untouched area of woods, I spied the bright green moss on the rivers edge from the other side of the river and instantly knew that I was setting myself up for trouble. This particular spot is a considerable ways into the forest from the gravel, non-marked road on the map. (If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?..... one of those kind of places). So I decided to cross the river on the fallen tree. I crawled on all fours across the slippery log - which had to look ridiculous, and made it ok. I didn't even see the bright yellow umbrella-like tree down the stream before crossing, so it was well worth the effort.
Advice: always wear waterproof shoes/boots when photographing throughout the countryside (or a rainy night in NYC!).

I've been trying to get creative with the rainy weather we've had recently in New York City. I was using a filter (the physical filter, not a photoshop filter) over my lens the other night and it ended up getting quite wet even under my umbrella. Wiping it down certainly wasn't working, so I started taking a few shots with the filter on at different focal lengths. The result is what looks like a view out of a frosty window.

The Lancaster County Postcard Club included this card in the club's book, Lancaster County Postcards: Windows to Our Past, Volume 2 (2002), p. 32, with the following caption:
"Historian, printer, photographer D. B. Landis may have anticipated that the gas storage tanks [gas holders for coal gas] would soon become a part of the city's history when he photographed them in 1908. His view looks northeast from Hazel St. On the horizon can be seen the water tower and chimneys of the cotton mills on S. Prince St."

Хоть и пришёл первый снег, но осень всё равно сохраняет свои краски)) Как бы снег не пытался застелить оставшуюся пору года, осень покажет, что она ещё огого как прекрасна)) И как кто то сказал, если выпал снег на листья🍁 ,значит зима будет холодной.. Так что ждём, настоящая зима близко, с ветруганами, ураганами,метелями,и белыми ходоками с фотоаппаратами, и с кучей прекрасных пейзажей) ❄А вы любите зиму? ❄
