A favorite moment from a recent wedding....

The pumpkin festival at the Dallas Arboretum. My favorite time of year.

come late november days

and late fall delays

to yield to winter's demand

the time between is upon the land

the trees are overtly naked

bending beneath age and forsake'd

of their colored glory

yet not, and still full of story,

beauty not forsaken

just a different sort taken

eyes blessed to behold it all

creation's mighty call

and in the end

it still happens at the river's bend.

You can see the cattle bunched, bracing from the wind.

Playtime Dress in Little Lisette cord from Joann's a few years ago. Love this pattern, might be my fave yet! Size 18-24 on my 22 month old.

At this site on the Little Thessalon River in 1879, Thomas Holcombe built a water powered grist mill. In 1890(?), Holcombe built an adjacent sawmill; soon thereafter, the village of Little Rapids was established. The grist mill and sawmill were destroyed by fire in 1920. The Little Rapids dam was probably built in the early 1900’s and is used to control water. Little Rapids lies within Huron Shores township; in 2011, Huron Shores population was 1723.
