A little bit of Friday flickr fun from me today as Metal Micky makes a return visit. I just love this garden ornament's colourful bokeh and amazing lifelike appearance. Thanks for a week of lovely comments and faves which are very much appreciated. Have a lovely weekend ... :-)

Stout-hearted and committed, the valiant spotters and counters search the skies, the water and the shores for incoming birds. They, and other counters around the country, spend countless hours and days collecting important information (FACTS) that can be used to learn about bird populations and their migratory patterns.

If you have forgotten or this is your first time viewing my photostream: Things That Make No Sense are just that, assorted bits of amusement for nothing more than visual curiosity and my idea of what I call art or abstract art. Now a series of sorts, the series is interrupted with photographs that do make sense, or at least make sense to me. That being said, most know how I feel when it comes to Trump so I prepared this SPECIAL EDITION just to try and capture our president striped bare with all his lies. I hope everyone has voted by now but if you haven't, please cast your vote for the future of this great nation and not just along party lines. Our country is so much better than what this troll has to offer.

A fitting way to end 2020 don't you think. Hard to say much more except to offer this stairway to 2021 and a better tomorrow. If it looks pretty complicated and uncertain, I guess that's because it is. We're at a crossroads, science and technology competing with conspiracy theories, truth competing with lies, news with fake news. How will we go? Will we get to a better place or fall further into a dysfunctional society. I don't know how it will turn out but I know that 2021 is the hopeful way forward, we'll have the chance to right the ship, to use this period in history as the wake up call, to put aside the lies and see them for what they are. To dig deep into the challenges that we face as a society. Not to just maintain the status quo but to better society through love, peace, truth and understanding. I remain optimistic for 2021 but only time will tell. Please follow the science, listen to the truth, stay safe and maybe we'll all have a Happy New Year! Stay Positive and Peace Out 2020. As for me, I'll keep taking pictures and doing my thing.

And a big Thank You for your support throughout the year, visits in my photostream, and kind comments and/or faves which are very much appreciated.

Breaking News: A Revolutionary Hybrid - Chili Pomegranate Created in Genetic Engineering Lab!

In a groundbreaking experiment conducted in our cutting-edge Genetic Engineering Laboratory, scientists have successfully developed a new hybrid through the revolutionary chromosomoribocomo method. Behold the Chili-Pomegranate—a fiery yet fruitful innovation that defies the boundaries of nature!

This hybrid combines the zest and heat of a homegrown chili pepper with the vibrant allure of a perfectly round pomegranate (albeit this one is plastic for demonstration purposes!).

"Our new method allows for endless possibilities," said the lead researcher.

This bold experiment, staged in my very own garden, showcases not only the potential of this technique but also our ability to imagine the unimaginable. Stay tuned for more hybrids that will redefine what is real—or not!

Which hybrid would you like to see next? 🍎🌶️

Gridalo is the title of Roberto Saviano's last book, an essay which is going to be among my favourites.

It is an exhortation to shout out one's indignation and to rebel against situations that one no longer wishes to tolerate.

With 30 short stories and reflexions about major figures in History, Mr Saviano, tries to help us to find our own way to escape the traps that have been surrounding us through centuries, to decipher all kind of manipulation and propaganda, or fake news; which should be the goal of every parent or teacher.

Hashima Island

[Quote= wikipedia ] Hashima Island (端島, or simply Hashima, as -shima is a Japanese suffix for island), commonly called Gunkanjima (軍艦島, meaning Battleship Island), is a tiny abandoned island off Nagasaki, lying about 15 kilometres (8 nautical miles) from the centre of the city. It is one of 505 uninhabited islands in Nagasaki Prefecture. The island's most notable features are its abandoned concrete buildings, undisturbed except by nature, and the surrounding seawall. While the island is a symbol of the rapid industrialization of Japan, it is also a reminder of Japanese war crimes as a site of forced labour prior to and during World War II. [...]

I came across an Internet story that said conspiracy theorists were claiming that NASA was covering up the fact that a massive asteroid was about to slam into the earth with catastrophic results. They said it would hit during the first part of February. I don’t think it happened though. At least, I didn’t notice anything… :-)

One hour and 15 minutes after the last image I posted the demonstration was still going strong on the streets of Manchester. The demo consisted of a various number of smaller demonstration groups amalgamated into one. Basically the protesters were marching against the Covid19 vaccine: Anti-vaxxers, Jobs over jabs, Right to choose to have the jab, Don’t vaccinate children, Mandatory jabbing, NHS and their rights, Medical Apartheid and much more; you name it, they were there; even a group to ‘Defund the BBC’ as was pointed to me by Bert CR . I think that group was jumping on a bigger bandwagon. This image was captured on Oxford Street in the City Centre.

The Western media is having a field day reporting on the "Chinese virus" that smacks of racist overtones and China phobia.

The true victim is in fact our sense of humanitarianism.

We should all support what the Chinese government is doing by trying to contain the spread of the virus.

We all live in the same global village and should all work together in unison rather than disparaging the Chinese Government who to date has accomplished more than what the US government accomplished during the 2009 H1N1 swine flu pandemic.

When the swine flu pandemic died down in April 2010, the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimated that 60.8 million Americans had contracted the virus, 274,304 were hospitalised and 12,469 had died.

In December last year, the flu season arrived unexpectedly early in the US, afflicting at least 19 million people, hospitalising 180,000 of them and killing 10,000. This is according to the CDC's Weekly US Influenza Surveillance Report on Jan 25.

As of Wednesday, the coronavirus has, within China, afflicted over 24,300 people and killed 490. Outside China, it has afflicted at least 186 people and killed one.

However, commentators online are expressing greater terror over ethnic Asians than the ongoing regular flu.

Know the facts from the fallacies and keep up the spirit of helping our fellow human beings in our shared time of need.

Grainy, indistinct photos make me think of those (in)famous images of the Loch Ness monster, Abominable Snowman and UFOs.

To get this faint image of a room light, I used a pinhole lens (some cooking foil over the front of the camera body with a tiny hole in it) and a very high ISO setting (400,000).

In post-processing, I've added a lot more noise, a gradient and few treetops to the B&W conversion to give some fake context.

I put white adhesive lettering on each plastic cup. After many shots, I liked the white gab in between. For two reasons; the light in between bounced the opposite colours onto the lettering as well as soften the "vibration" of color when they were right next to each other. Although, I must say I DID like the new "purple/magenta" that was created by the DOF. HMM!

Thank you ADMIN for the challenge, I really enjoyed this one!

>>The weather today was VERY surprising!

The weather people had been talking about how Monday night into Tuesday how we were going to have freezing rain. I was concerned and actually decided to reschedule a couple of things, yesterday. (After all of this crazy winter weather lately, and a couple of scares -driving in the snow & ice.. I'm really trying to avoid driving in it.)

-Anyhoo, I woke up this morning.. drank my coffee.. and I was still waking up... when it was time to let Reese (the fur-baby) outside to do her business.

When I opened the door and let her out, I was overcome by ..well.. almost excitement!!

>>The warmer wind hit me and I was in disbelief. I went back to the bedroom & told Juan that it felt really warm outside.. It was a little damp on the ground - but it didn't feel like it should be "ice rain", like everyone was getting ready for.

So I went back to check the thermometer and check to see if Reese was ready to come back inside..It was OVER 50 DEGREES!! & Not raining.. Mild drizzle on and off.. but nothing like they had predicted!

I have come to the point in my life, with everyone going on anymore.. where I've decided NOT to watch FakeNews anymore, so I don't even check the weather. I ask people, or just open the door and see what the temperature is before we decide how we're dressing that day, etc. - That's just my personal thing. I'd rather not get into it.. This is my photography site. :)

But, yes. Weather is a VERY interesting and unpredictable theme! (So I love the idea.)

I was ACTUALLY planning on shooting my "weather" photo this Thursday when the "snow comes". - Who knows... if it will. So I decided to just take some photos today, just in case.. (if it doesn't snow.. I'd rather have SOMETHING!)

I'm so grateful that I went outside and took a bunch of photos this morning..

I took SO many WONDERFUL images today! I am so happy with them all, and I really cannot WAIT to share them! SOOO, in the next coming weeks.. Keep an eye out! I'll be adding new photos every so often.. :)

I hope and pray that you all are doing WELL!

I'm heading over now to return your comments and check out all of your wonderful photographs!

*Take care of yourselves & HAPPY PICTURE-TAKING!! :D

LONDON — The army renewed clashes with insurgents early Monday after thousands of antigovernment protesters defied a state of emergency, massing in the streets, firing on armored military vehicles and attacking government offices.

Soldiers charged protesters and fired automatic weapons into the crowds to clear a major road leading out of the centre as England began another round of military operations aimed at quelling unrest. Hospitals said at least 60 people were wounded.

High Chancellor Adam Sutler declared the state of emergency last Sunday after violence broke out following attempts by residents of the nearly formed Swine flu quarantine zones to get medical treatment .

On Sunday, armed protesters attacked Norsfire officials in Liverpool as they was leaving the Interior Ministry North building, injuring several people in the process. The building was set on fire and attempts by fire fighter to deal with the blaze thwarted by demonstrators throwing rocks and bottles.

The emergency decree bans gatherings of more than five people had been issued, but bands of protesters roamed the city, defying deployments of soldiers and armored vehicles. The largest crowd gathered outside Norsefire offices, where demonstrations have continued for days, calling for the dissolution of the government.

Protesters erected barricades, including parked vehicles, in case the military moved against them, and some were seen filling bottles with gas as makeshift bombs.

The most militant demonstrators, known as “PROS,” have yet to issue demands or a political agenda other than call for the fall of the present Norsefire regime.

“Now that they have tanks on the streets, it is time for the people to come out in revolution,” said a protest organiser known only as V in the telephone interview with the IHT on Sunday evening. “And when it is necessary, we will take back our country.”

Speaking to an audience of party officials at Downing Street, the High chancellors office, leader, Adam Sutler, said a state of emergency was “the only way to save this nations fro the forces of anarchy and chaos.”

He added: “They will crush these cowards and we will remain here. We will start a war against all those who would destroy everything we have worked so hard to create.”

In a televised speech to the nation, Mr. Andrews, deputy head of the Office of Political Orthodoxy said execution orders were being prepared for leaders of the demonstrations.

“In the current situation, what we have to do is bring order to the country, bring back stability and have a firm hand on the wheel of government,” Mr. Andrews said. “The chancellor will ensure in every way that these terrorist cause no further damage to our proud nation.”

Mr. Andrews’s emergency decree reversed a police only approach critics said had contributed to the escalation of hostilities over the previous week in cities across England. At the meeting, in the beach resort of Blackpool, hundreds of protesters broke through a thin line of security officers to enter the hotel complex where the local Norsefire leaders were gathered. Several leaders were evacuated by helicopter.

The meeting was to have included the heads of the 10 members of the Norsefire regional command, top Territorial Militia commanders and representatives of local councils in the area. The officials had planned to discuss the handing of the Swine flu crisis.

Units of the 2nd Wessex brigade in conjunction with elements of the army air corp managed to restore order in matter of hours according to official reports. Unofficial reports speaks of a dozen dead and possibly hundreds of injured following the bombing of an old people’s home which the army spokesmen said was being used as an insurgent’s weapon depot.

“Yesterday we saw the true face of terrorism. There can be no doubt that those who seek to challenge the government are little more than thugs and criminals,” The Daily Mail said in a front-page editorial on Sunday. “We need to show those who would destroy our way of life that their vile efforts will not bear fruit.”

As a results of the troubles traffic in parts of London is virtually non - existent, with daily business curtailed or at a standstill. Many of England’s regional airports, which were shut by huge protests on Thursday, remain closed with only London Heathrow and Gatwick functioning normally. Hotels were open, and but foreigners said they did feel threatened.

“We are very worried about the situation,” said Thibault Quetel, 20, from France, who is studying economics at Cambridge university. “This is a problem between English. There hasn’t been any animosity toward foreigners.”

Insurgents and protesters, who mostly come from ethnic minorities and the urban working class, represent one side of a deep social and political divide that pits them against the supporters of Norsefire,” who demonstrated last Wednesday in support of government measures to stop the spread of Swine flu.

Norsefire supporters generally represent the country’s established power centers, including the royalists, the elite and middle class, and the military, who feel threatened by attempts to change the country’s balance of power.

As demonstrations by the Norsefire’s foes continued, court rulings cleared the way for the setting up of internment camps on the Isle of White and the forced deportation of protesters with roots outside the UK.

“We need to show insurgents that the government is capable of fending off any challenge to its authority,” said Tom Thorson, director of the Institute of Security and International Studies at Oxford University. “The use of the army to put down these acts of subversion is just the beginning.”

The deployment of army units to impose quarantine zones and deal with armed uprisings has resulted in an international outcry of the Norsefire government. The United Nations security council, which England quit two years ago issued an official condemnation of the use of air strikes and heavy artillery in urban areas.

The sly and lithe Snake-bird glides silently through the air, completely hidden behind a stolen branch. When spotted, it stops mid-air, like a tree in a gentle breeze, remaining carefully under cover. It approaches small children with cool toys and interesting snacks stealing these trinkets with great skill and sending their victims into howling wails. Unsuspecting parents speculate curiously as to ultimate fate of the missing objects while these birds hide, nearby, snickering behind their branches. They dive into the water frequently leaving only their heads visible, watching as frantic parents are forced to run off to nearby stores to replace the missing goods and ultimately leaving the birds to enjoy their peaceful sanctuary. #Anhinga #FakeNews

Recent fisticuffs over someone plonking their tripod in the water right in front of everyone else apparently have led the local Council to look at ways of maintaining order at Llyn Padarn's not so lonely "Lone Tree". Growing numbers of togs are increasingly marking out their 'plot' earlier and earlier, like fans putting up tents to sleep outside Apple stores to get the lastest iPhone. Togs are resorting to sleeping as close as possible to this location in camper vans, in order to be first in line. Unfortunately there was trouble in the early hours one night recently when someone travelling from Germany found a Southerner already bedded down on the bench at the waterside by the tree. Regulars will note that the lower left branch has been broken.

The Council have discussed a permit scheme whereby togs book a slot (£ 8.00 admin fee) at a marked position. I believe only five 'pitches' marked by numbered plates set in the ground, will be available at any one time. Pitch No.3. directly in front of the tree is priced at £ 16.00 per time slot.

Unfortunately slots will be enforced rigorously to prevent rufty tufty behaviour, and if the light comes good just on the expiration of your booked period you will politely be asked to pack up and move on without hanging on a bit longer. There are plenty more people who would like to get a shot once you have moved out of the way.

The Council proposes to take funds from permits sold to invest in significant pruning of the tree and the installation of seasonal lights and baubles.

My shot, to follow soon. Still working on cloning six togs out of it.

For most teenagers, the world they live in does not really make them want to “grow up”!

It's very complicated, especially in a world where no one believes in progress or in a better world...

It's a bit worrying because it doesn't really make you want to grow!!!

Teens are also searching for meaning in a world dominated by “fake news”…

I am highly amused every week at the supermarket checkout to read the sensational headlines on the rag newspapers.

Sadly people buy these rag newspapers and believe the contents......but they did get his age right :D
