Society is like a large piece of frozen water; and skating well is the great art of social life. Letitia Elizabeth Landon
Created by Daniel Chester French in 1880 at the age of 30, the sculpture is a bigger than life "allegorical figure group". Law holds a tablet while she strides forward. Power is the seated male to her left. Prosperity is a seated female holding a cornucopia (hidden from view behind the others).
Apologies for leaving out Prosperity. The piece is behind a locked gate and I could not get a view of her.
Daniel Chester French is best known for his magnificent and immense sculpture of Abraham Lincoln in the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC.

In the middle of the city, not a man-made structure in sight. This is the most pristine reflection I have captured anywhere.
The trolley operated a 5 mile loop from 1896 to September 1946 when it closed forever. This tunnel has survived and can be traversed by following a bike path through the woods that roughly follows the original trolley line.
Wood Duck drake posing like a boss. Gotta love these ducks as they may be the most beautiful species of waterfowl that exists. Always fun to photograph, especially when getting down low and adding in some backlight to the composition. Please view large for best experience. :D
Enjoy the day ~
I've always said the Wood Duck hen is very attractive in her own right. Not as flashy as the clown colored male, but a subdued beauty that is hard to match in the duck world. This female was preening her feathers after a dive in the creek. I find the pose to be rather "elegant." Please view large for best experience.
Thanks for stopping by ~!
This is my last Wood Duck shot of my recent series, and likely my last Wood Duck shot that I will be sharing this spring season (although I did say that before :) ). I truly do enjoy photographing them, and am fortunate to have a great location nearby in which to do so. In my humble opinion, they are the most beautiful waterfowl in North America. I think this image is my favorite out of the 1000 wood duck shots I have taken this spring. This beautiful drake is back lit doing a wing flap, with bokeh balls everywhere in the background. Hence, a "Sparkling Wood Duck." Please view large for detail.
Hope you have enjoyed the multiple Wood Duck series. Thank you for stopping by for a look. Enjoy the rest of the evening~!
