Another set-up from Gavin Hoey's excellent Glass tutorial on OlympusUK's Facebook Live.

I bought four differentlycoloured little glasses ages ago in a charity shop, and still love their elegant lines. Don't think I've ever drunk out of them, they'd be ideal for port at Christmas!

I'm tempted to put these in the camera club Challenge Group for Reflections, as these are reflecting the black flags placed either side! Will have to remove one entry though :-)

Here's the man! :) @anthonybourdain I took this right after our conversation on Facebook Live. He's an inspirational dude. He said one thing that is still on his bucket list is to get high with Keith Richards, listen to music, and eat food deep into the night. #caymancookout #rcmemories #grandcayman #ritzcarlton @ritzcarlton via Trey Ratcliff on FB at ift.tt/1v05hWZ Snapchat: treyratcliff ift.tt/1qx3iMJ Instagram: treyratcliff ift.tt/1c7s6Uy

I feel very lucky to be a part of the Olympus community and during lockdown the staff did their level best to keep us motivated and entertained, some of their Facebook live events were hilarious if not always intentionally so. I was part of a coffee morning group where we chatted about all things photographic and this Sunday we had our first "in person" meet up at the British Wildlife Centre, what a treat, the red squirrels were a firm favourite of us all!

It was also the perfect place to try out my new whopper of a lens, the Olympus 150-400 f4.5 tc1.25x IS Pro. Let me just say, it didn't disappoint!

Time spiralling away while we wait for lockdown to be lifted. Infinite for the group 52 weeks in 2021.

This started off as my grandad's fob watch. Gavin Hoey did a Facebook Live last year on creating spirals and showed off how to use the Spiralysis app. Naturally I had to try it for this challenge

The galactic center of our Milky Way rises high above the Point Halswell Lighthouse in Wellington, New Zealand. The night I shot this was really windy and difficult conditions to photograph in, but I did manage to do a Facebook live broadcast of the shoot which you can find here: ift.tt/2aFDBaQ

Looking forward to going back to the Caribbean in January — taking a fun family trip there! Last evening me and mine went to the Grand Theatre, Swansea to see Bronwen Lewis – who you might ask ?

She’s I suppose you could call it , “A local girl done good “. From the Web : A young bilingual singer-songwriter from the South Wales valleys, Bronwen comes from a very creative and musical family. She sang the soundtrack theme song ‘Bread and Roses’ to the BAFTA winning film ‘Pride’ “

I first got to know about her via a Facebook live performance but prior to that during Lockdown she sang from her living room on Tik Tok which set her career off big time.

These two mugs were part of the merchandise that was on sale in the foyer. “Perffaith “is the song by Ed Sheeran , namely Perfect which she translated herself and sings it in Welsh, whilst “Ti a fi ‘ meaning, “You and me” is one that she wrote specifically about her grandparents.

If you want to be blown away as much I was last night then take a listen to her back in 2013 on The Voice.

I've also mastered Zoom meeting attendance and interacting with Facebook live virtual church services. But no photos of these until tomorrow.

I had plans to do a Facebook LIVE feed of the sunset last night but as my luck would have it, I had cell signal every place but where I was.

We had shot sunrise here at Marshal Point that morning and we decided to return to shoot it at sunset to see the difference in the light. When we headed out to here from Rockland there wasn't a cloud in the sky, but as luck would have it clouds moved in just in time for sunset. We had planned on shooting the night sky later but we decided to head back wit there still being plenty of clouds in the at 9:45pm and we still had a 45 minute drive back and we still had to eat not to mention we had to get up at 3:30 to drive to Pemaquid Light the next morning.

Here's amazing Larnach Castle just after the sun was setting. The team came up and slept here for a few nights in anticipation of the the early morning quadcopter Live-to-Facebook flight! We took a moment out of our planning to wander into the gardens with wine and chocolate to get some photos. It was a fun night for sure :) Here is more about that early morning drone-to-Facebook Live flight on my FB page at ift.tt/1QyRtPD via Trey Ratcliff on FB at ift.tt/1v05hWZ Snapchat: treyratcliff ift.tt/1qx3iMJ Instagram: treyratcliff ift.tt/1c7s6Uy

Want a photo critiqued tomorrow during our Facebook live show? Pop over to our Facebook Group at ift.tt/1V1rmDS and see the post that is pinned up at the top there. Public Service Announcement from Trey, regarding moving Google+ activity to my private Facebook group for creatives at www.facebook.com/groups/BecomingAnArtist !

Well, it looks like one of our favorite playgrounds, G+, is getting the wrecking hammer. We had a great run! I met a lot of amazing people and it helped to spur a lot of creativity for not just for me, but for a whole new swath of creatives.

I feel like the team at Google abandoned us a long time ago, and this really whittled away at any good will we had. It could have been a great alternative to Facebook. Heck, they could have even pivoted and made it more like Instagram. After all, like 80% of the market already has an Android phone. They could have integrated it into the regular photos/camera app so it's part of the default OS. That seemed like an obvious pivot to me.

Anyway, none of it matters now. It turned out to be largely a waste of time for not only the users that fueled the machine, but also many of the clever engineers that built it.

It seems like a great time to invite you over to our Very Active Facebook Group called "Becoming an Artist - Trey's Funky Lounge" at www.facebook.com/groups/BecomingAnArtist

I know some of you HATE HATE HATE Facebook and aren't afraid to tell everyone, and hey, that's coo that's coo. I have other follow options below.

It's a great group of new and experienced photographers and creatives! We do giveaways, critiques, tutorial videos, and more! Plus, everyone in there is super-nice, so it's a safe place for you to share your creations and get/give feedback. One thing I do ask, if I may be so bold, is to comment on all the photos that you find interesting. People love getting feedback, and this is a great place to do it.

As for my Facebook page, go to www.facebook.com/treyratcliff and then "Like" it, IMPORTANT: under "Follow" select "See First." This is a way to get around Facebook's algorithm that will hide stuff you really want to see. That page is another where I do fun giveaways, Facebook Live events, critiques, and more. It's also cool because I have my awesome team there to help answer any questions you might have, 24 hours a day!

A few nights ago in the wine cellar of Huka Lodge, we had a gin tasting with a master sommelier. What a cool guy and what a unique experience!

He kept all the gins a secret until the end and made us guess. We missed every single one and there were many exotic ones, but the only one I recognized what Lighthouse. He had all kinds of opinions on the right way to have it and what kind of tonic water to use. I told him I thought all tonic water tasted the same and he politely guffawed. He also refuses to put ice in his G&T saying it waters it down. “Do you put ice in your wine good man?” No, he had me there. But my friend Scott Kublin put sugar cubes in his zinfandel.

This is a photo I took right before the tasting… this is just part of the 5,000 bottle wine cellar. So awesome!

Here's Christmas in Georgetown, Texas! They have some nice decorations around the old courthouse. We did a fun Facebook Live show here too where I talked about how I set up the photo and that sort of thing. I joked that they only do public hangings here a few times a week... then after the show I walked around to the other side and there was this big brass "Historical Marker" sign that was all about the Ku Klux Klan. Anyway, this was a 3-shot HDR processed with Aurora HDR 2017! #Aurora #Christmas #HDR #AuroraHDR #Georgetown #Christmastree via Trey Ratcliff on FB at ift.tt/1v05hWZ Snapchat: treyratcliff ift.tt/1qx3iMJ Instagram: treyratcliff ift.tt/1c7s6Uy

Here's a new photo of Venice I finished this morning. I'll set this one aside to do a live-edit of during an upcoming Facebook Live show - I made this using Aurora HDR 2018. I took this on my last evening in Venice, when I finally got a good sunset after a week of fog and rain.

Someone told me that Huka Falls is the #1 most visited tourist attraction in New Zealand. Is that possible? I suppose maybe so… It is pretty awesome. I guess one reason it surprises me is because it's a multiple-hour drive from Auckland and not exactly convenient when it comes to time. I would think Hobbiton Movie Set or something like that would be #1, but what do I know? Not much apparently!

Stunning Saturday Sunset Dreamy Dramatic Dusk Magical Magnificent Moment - IMRAN™

I am sure you have never done careless things like this. It was going to be a stunning sunset, so I took my drone out to the dock with my dogs. Usually, I am very proactive about putting up some sort of "flag" on a device if I have pulled the memory card out to take data to the computer.

The previous time I had used the drone, I had not gone back inside the house from the usual entrance. When I took the card out and placed the drone on the countertop, I did not have my regular "flag" nearby to indicate and remind me that the card was not in there. So, here I was with the dogs, and a fully charged drone, and no memory card in it when I walked to the dock.

It was too much trouble to go back inside and come back with the card, as sunset would be over and true dusk would not have set in. I figured I may as well do a Livestream if I cannot capture photos or videos on the memory card. Unfortunately, either because there was no card, or due to some other FaceBook Live glitch, the drone app gave broadcast-not-possible errors. So, I just brought the drone back inside, remembered to reinsert the memory card into it, and went for a walk with Kennedy and K2.

As we were returning from the usual nearly one-mile walk, I saw that the dusk was even more dramatic than the sunset had been. I stood on the seashells and rocks at the back of my blessed home and took 4 handheld iPhone 11 Pro Max photos. I then merged them into a panorama in Photoshop on my laptop.

I am certain you will be as awed by the dramatic dusk and the magical moment as I was. I bowed my head in Maghreb prayer and offered a word of gratitude to the Almighty Allah, the one God of all the universe. I sent a silent prayer towards my beloved late parents in heaven, so they would know that with every vision I see and capture I pray that their souls can see it too.... through my eyes, my heart, my mind, and my soul.... until we meet again... on the other side of the dusk of my time on earth.

This was one of my scariest quad flights ever! I was staying up at the Huka Lodge which is so far up that river you can just BARELY see it. See those little bits of white up there? One of this is probably me, pale white with fear. Something about taking the quad over a waterfall is terrifying. I started to lose transmission power too at this distance… I was getting lots of beeps and bloops in the controller which added to the stress even more! Anyway, I ended up with this pretty cool vertirama that turned out pretty good… I was just so happy to bring the bird home and land it.

ESA’s proposed Asteroid Impact Mission and its twin CubeSats, with its microlander in place on the smaller of the two Didymos asteroids. ESA performs a wide variety of asteroid research, and is participating in international Asteroid Day tomorrow (30 June).

AIM is proposed for launch in 2020 to be in place around Didymos in late 2022 when the NASA DART spacecraft impacts. As well as demonstrating key deep-space technologies and studying Didymoon in unprecedented detail, the mission will be ideally placed to document the effect of the impact on the asteroid body and its orbital path. AIM and DART together form the international Asteroid Impact & Deflection Assessment (AIDA).

Asteroid Day is an annual global movement to increase public awareness of potential asteroid impacts with Earth, and the importance of guarding against them. It is held each year on 30 June, the anniversary of the largest impact in recent history, the 1908 Tunguska event in Siberia.

ESA asteroid experts will be speaking at Asteroid Day events in Barcelona, Rome, Heidelberg and Munich.

Agency specialists will also be available to field questions online at a special ‘Ask Me Anything’ session on social media platform Reddit: “We are experts of the European Space Agency working on Near Earth Objects such as asteroids, their detection and deflection and the respective activities and missions – ask us anything!”

The AMA will take place at 14:45 GMT / 16:45 CEST on www.reddit.com/r/IAmA (but will appear there only a few hours before it starts).

The following team will answer your questions:

• Christopher Buck (CB), Payload Engineer, AIM

• Clemens Heese (CH), Opto-Electronics and Photonic Engineer, ESA

• Dario Izzo (DI), Advanced Concept Team Systems Engineer, ESA

• Michael Khan (MK), Mission Analyst, ESA

• Vasco Pesquita (VP), Systems and Concurrent Engineering Section,

• Borja Garcia Gutierrez (BGG), System Simulation Engineer, ESA

• Ninja Menning (NM), Head of ESA ESTEC Communication Unit

• Sean Blair (SB), Senior Editor, Space Engineering and Technology

• Marco Trovatello (MT), Cross-Media Coordinator, ESA

Tomorrow’s Asteroid Day will also see the launch of an interactive strategy game , called ‘AIM-Space Challenge’, allowing players to learn more about the AIM mission and ESA in general, developed for the Agency by students from MediaLab Amsterdam.

ESA’s Facebook page will also be hosting a couple of Facebook Live sessions from ESA’s site in Noordwijk, the Netherlands – the technical heart of the Agency. The first, at 12:30 GMT /1430 CEST, will focus on the AIM game. The second, at 13:45 GMT / 15:45 CEST, will demonstrate how AIM would navigate around its target binary asteroid system.

Another beautiful mosque I visited this morning with my family on our morning mosque meander! This one (the Al-Rifa'i Mosque) had the most beautiful vaulted ceilings that bounced the light around this way and that. Just before this, our family was in the nearby Sultan Hassan Mosque where we heard some beautiful chanting and reciting from the Q'uran (see a the previous photo on my wall for that). There comes a time in a mans life when he has to do certain things.

One of those times is now.

I vowed not to join the latest social network site which of course is Twitter. I told myself no as I am already on Bebo, Myspace, Facebook, Live Journal, Deviant Art, etc etc. But this afternoon I joined Twitter.

So I have done this image to use as my Twitter avatar!

And yes, I do indeed have pink walls! Ok, I have one pink wall until I can get used to it, but I like it.

So here is my Twitter pic, I hope you like it, and I hope you like this song that I am leaving you with:

Pink~Who Knew

You took my hand

You showed me how

You promised me you'd be around

Uh huh

That's right

I took your words

And I believed

In everything

You said to me

Yeah huh

That's right

If someone said three years from now

You'd be long gone

I'd stand up and punch them out

Cause they're all wrong

I know better

Cause you said forever

And ever

Who knew

Remember when we were such fools

And so convinced and just too cool

Oh no

No no

I wish I could touch you again

I wish I could still call you friend

I'd give anything

When someone said count your blessings now

'fore they're long gone

I guess I just didn't know how

I was all wrong

They knew better

Still you said forever

And ever

Who knew

Yeah yeah

I'll keep you locked in my head

Until we meet again

Until we

Until we meet again

And I won't forget you my friend

What happened

If someone said three years from now

You'd be long gone

I'd stand up and punch them out

Cause they're all wrong and

That last kiss

I'll cherish

Until we meet again

And time makes

It harder

I wish I could remember

But I keep

Your memory

You visit me in my sleep

My darling

Who knew

My darling

My darling

Who knew

My darling

I miss you

My darling

Who knew

Who knew

As I wandered through the streets of Bruges, I happened upon this square and took a Facebook Live video of it. I commented on how it was baffling that there was nobody else there.

This building was originally the residence of the counts of Flanders and the Burgundian dukes, according to the Belgian Wikipedia article for Prinsenhof, which I copy pasted into Google Translate since there was no English article available. This plaza seems to be at least as old as 1396.

By the way, if anyone knows the architectural name for that tower near the left, let me know. It's not a turret, because turrets don't extend down to the ground. It's on the tip of my tongue, but I can't get it.
