My mind is blank. Ever have one of those days? Just can't hold onto my thoughts for long.
I guess it's good I was productive this morning.
My Face is My Canvas: Emulation #74
I'm amazed I managed to rally in time to get this shot done today before Lost tonight. Let me back up. I went to Urgent Care this morning to get my leg checked out since I still can't walk. Turns out I tore my calf muscle and fascia in my right leg. The good news is that I didn't rupture my achilles tendon, so I won't need surgery. The bad news is that it's going to be 4-6 weeks before I can even think about running, jumping, playing soccer, or anything else that I actually want to do with my leg. But I'm thankful because it could be worse. I have to keep reminding myself of that. Anyway, the doctor gave me a prescription for Percocet to help with the pain. I had some issues with nausea when I took Vicodin a few years back, so he thought Percocet would be a good alternative.
WRONG!
About forty-five minutes after taking it, I hit a brick wall of nausea and was completely laid up for the rest of the afternoon, petrified that I was going to throw up. Did I mention that I do NOT throw up? I do everything in my power to avoid it at all costs, no matter what. Even when I know I will feel better afterwards. No thank you. Anyway, today sucked. That's pretty much the point of the story. But I managed to get this shot off for this week's Emulation Challenge in My Face is My Canvas. Can you believe this is our 25th week of emulation challenges??? If you haven't already checked out the group and you have even the slightest interest in face art photography, you owe it to yourself to stop by. And for those of you who haven't played in a while...hey, we miss you! ;)

I had big plans for today. But instead, I woke up feeling groggy and drugged. So I spent the day like a bump on a log. Took a nap. Had terrible dreams. Not the greatest lazy Sunday of all time, to be sure. Tomorrow I'm getting back to work on the book. I'm having a little trouble right now because I've got some great ideas for a new book swirling in my head and I don't know if I should jot some of that down while it's fresh or keep plugging away on the first book for fear of losing all momentum. I'm sure I'll sort it out.

This is my shot for this week's emulation challenge in My Face is My Canvas. It is a whole lot tougher to draw lines on yourself in the mirror than I had originally anticipated. But I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. And hey, a shot without my eyes showing for a change! (Don't worry, there are more in the comments with my eyes showing for those of you who are hopelessly addicted to my baby blues!) ;)
So today wasn't so much fun. Spent the day worrying about my friend Tom and his son Brody, who is in pediatric ICU right now in very serious condition. If you pray, please send prayers to Brody. And if you don't pray, then send good vibes. They really need them right now.

The staging of the Goroka Show started back in 1957 at the Independence Park opposite the Goroka Main Market. It was first introduced and organized by Australian Kiaps. Kiaps from each district built round houses typical of thier districts. It is they proudly displayed cultures of their districts. The kiaps brought in singsing groups from their area and as we have some twenty nine languages and societies it was reflected in their culture.
These days the Goroka show is partly a tourist event, but it's a rare opportunity for travellers to experience the customs of over a hundred tribes that populate the Papua New Guinea highlands. During the course of the weekend the tribes gather for music, dancing, showing-off and extraordinary displays of tribal rituals.
The Goroka Show was held on 17th, 18th and 19th September 2010.

So our emulation challenge this week in My Face is My Canvas can be classified as "fantasy." The inspiration picture felt like it embodied fire, and I was feeling more airy today. So I went softer. Haven't done some serious face art in a while, so I had fun with this today.
Now that I'm done processing my pictures, I can focus on what's really important: tonight's season premiere of Lost!!! Dying in anticipation! I can't believe we're already starting the final season. I want to cry. I can still remember watching the very first episode on the first day it aired, alone in my condo, and freaking the fark out! Tonight's episode is guaranteed to blow my mind. And I love me some good, mind-blowing television. :) The best part? I get to watch the premiere a full three hours before Daynna!! I might have to torture her with texts throughout the entire premiere...

Any one else see the face in the heart? This is another one where I photographed rocks in water and the glass reflected my marker art back into the glass. The heart shaped tear drop from an app works like a magnifier and then I mirrored it.

- Think I'll stay now! lol. I can't believe I almost abandoned the project...I've came too far...and done too much up until now to quit. But man, it was tempting! *wah, wah* "I just don't have enough time..." My real excuse that I kept telling people was, "...I just want to be in the moment man..." And that was true, and still is, but I still think I should stay commited to the project.
So yeah, sorry I had abandoned you all and ur wonderful streams for nearly a week there...but I think I should be back to stay for good now....I guess until I date, travel, or go to jail...I'll stay committed, no matter how lame they turn out.
And it took me forever to choose between this one and the last one in the comments...what do you guys think?

Ok, I definitely didn't miss working. But luckily I managed to accomplish a lot today by starting early. So I have some downtime now. Andy's got a rump roast in the oven, so there'll be some good eating soon too. Holler!
