h a p p y eye-of-the-day! :)
Bart & Lisa weren't too interested in the photos I was trying to take of them, so I pointed the camera at the daisies in my parent's back garden.

Bellis perennis is a common European species of Daisy, often considered the archetypal species of that name. It is thought that the name "daisy" is a corruption of "day's eye", because the whole head closes at night and opens in the morning. Chaucer called it "eye of the day".
Daisy is also a common girl's name and is a nickname for girls named Margaret, after the French name for the oxeye daisy, marguerite.

As I embrace Slumber, the eyes of
Night watch over me,and as I
Awaken I stare at the Sun,which is
The only eye of the day.

The daisies were out in force today at South Benfleet! Spring is springing!
The Daisy (Bellis perennis) is a common European species of daisy, of the Asteraceae family, often considered the archetypal species of that name. Many related plants also share the name "daisy", so to distinguish this species from other daisies it is sometimes qualified as common daisy, lawn daisy or English daisy.
Bellis is Latin for "pretty" and perennis is Latin for "everlasting". The name "daisy" is occasionally considered a corruption of "day's eye", because the whole head closes at night and opens in the morning. Chaucer called it "eye of the day".
Although the 'flower' of the Daisy may appear to consist of a yellow centre with white petals, this is not actually the case. Each individual "petal" is itself an individual flower, called asterales. In the centre there are also many tiny yellow flowers. The different colours and styles of flower work together in order to attract insects. This type of flower is known as a composite flower.

I'm a pretty little thing,
Always coming with the spring;
In the meadows green I'm found,
Peeping just above the ground,
And my stalk is cover'd flat
With a white and yellow hat.
Little Mary, when you pass
Lightly o'er the tender grass,
Skip about, but do not tread
On my bright but lowly head,
For I always seem to say,
"Surely winter's gone away."

So, basically, I'm trying to modify the pink eye I discussed herewith a shimmery light pink lid (Hyacinth) and a neutral rosy brown contour (Snow Leopard). Snow Leopard got rave reviews, but looking at it in the picture here, I'm kinda underwhelmed. I guess I was expecting something a little pinker. Selkie Skin has a red undertone in the jar, but has a wonderfully purple undertone on my skin. It's a terrific dark brown, eh? Shame I'm not much for dark eyeshadows (since I wear glasses and have hooded lids).
