This lady sprang up all alone next to the fence on our patio - they can be quite invasive but this one made a statement that my wife pointed me to. Pretty little gem with eyelashes, all on her own and first one up. The 20mm gravel she grew through made for nice bokeh.

The Odunde Festival is a festival and mostly a street market in Philadelphia targeting African-American community and the African diaspora. It is derived from the tradition of the Yoruba people of Nigeria in celebration of the new year.
It is conveniently located just outside my home. A very colorful and lively event, with lots of performances and just good peoplewatching.
There are two things I love about this image. No, not what you thought. The single curving strand of hair and the incredible shadows of eyelashes. :-)
PETER:
Scout.....Scout! Where are you? I have not seen you in a long time. Are you going to play with me? Mummy M gave me fake eyelashes. I have one for you too! And we can still pick something in the beauty case. We can't use the lipstick said Mummy M.
Ik hou zo veel van je en ik mis je.

Getting only between two and three hours of shuteye a night, the African Elephant (Loxodonta africana) indeed has some interesting eyes. Ultimately, they aren't spectacularly perceptive. In shadowed or otherwise dull light, they can see relatively well. But in the garish light of day, visual acuity drops precipitously. Wildly, eyesight isn't all that important to them and there are documented cases of blind elephants leading herds, guiding their troops by feel! Still, the eyesight they do have, they guard carefully with long eyelashes unaided by Revlon products.
This is a captive elephant living in the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia, SC.

Captured this on our recent trip to Costa Rica with Natures Tapestry Photo Adventure Tours !. It is quite colorful and does come in various colors. It is a venomous snake so
has to photograph with caution. It derived it's name because it actually looks like it has eyelashes !
We are leaving tomorrow for Namibia ,Africa so will be away from the computer until the middle of May. Will try to catch up with everyone then.

A mama moose teaching her little one how to feed from the bottom of the lake. The little one watched her very closely and dabbled a bit with dunking it's head but wasn't too sure of itself. So fun to watch...and of course, quite the sight to see the eyelash waterfalls every time mama would take a breather.
Happy Friday...have a great weekend!!!
Cropped image :-) These snakes have a mind-blowing color range, some superbly camouflaged, others super obvious
