Well I experienced my first hard drive failure, nerve racking to say the least. Glad I had a good backup!!!!! This image was taken last week. I think it is somewhat unique due to the extremes in the lighting of the scene..... Thanks for your comments and such, have a great week!
A few days ago, I went exploring the Vallée des Fantômes, with my brother Renald(lefion) and my friend Julien (Abo)...we were alone on the summit for about 2 hours....it was a magical experience that I will never forget.

The Vallée des Fantômes
The phantoms inhabit the valley at an altitude of 800 metres near the clear peaks. The trees are so well protected from winds that blowing snow from nearby summits causes up to three metres of snow accumulation, decking out the evergreens with a layer of soft snow that eventually camouflages them completely. These are the phantoms. It is guaranteed that you will experience a total change of scenery! After a good snowfall, the atmosphere is muted, the ground seems to be carpeted in cotton batten and the silence is omnipresent.

The color here is really to the extreme end. The purple cast is mostly from the stacking of two cokin GND filters, haven't figured out a good way to remove this yet.
What is striking is the love of these elderly people who help themselves to walk in the alleys of the village, despite the motor difficulties.

Oh Yeah... Lightning Storm that evening... It came in late, and I had gear packed and ready in case a storm started to brew. Only a 30% chance but that means its gonna storm in Nebraska.
NWS had just issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Phelps & Kearney Nebraska Counties and it was moving right in my direction. I had time to get into position and wait for the show to begin! I ALWAYS have front row tickets to this type of show!

Playing with bi-color filters on this. It was actually bi-color to start with the horizon a more warm color than the sky, but I decided to make it extreme.
Probably the most extreme mountain range I've had the privilege to photograph, camp at its base, and just be in its presence. I felt these extreme mountains deserved some extreme processing. The thought of chiaroscuro and tenebrism popped into my head as I converted this single frame to a black & white. By pushing the shadows and darks to their extremes, the early morning light on Cerro Torre seemed balanced and more dramatic, drawing me in to these magnificent peaks!
