The Global One-Eighth Degree Urban Land Extent Projection and Base Year Grids by SSP Scenarios, 2000-2100 are part of the Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSPs) collection. The data set consists of global SSP-consistent spatial data in urban land fraction for the base year 2000 and projections at ten-year intervals for 2010–2100 at a resolution of one-eighth degree (7.5 arc-minutes). The SSPs are developed to support future climate and global change research, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Sixth Assessment Report (AR6), along with Special Reports. This map represents the percentage of urban land based on SSP5 for the year 2100.

A sign showing the extent of the Franz Josef Glacier over time. It's still technically in retreat, but it is much larger than it was in the 1970s.
Observed Arctic sea ice extent (red line), compared to IPCC model range projections. Real world observations of the decline in Arctic sea ice extent are moving faster than IPCC model projections.
These vines will grow all over a tree and anything else that gets in the way. I think the flowers are pretty.
Regardless of the extent of the ongoing tyranny and oppression I have been forced to deal with in Greece for nearly a decade under the harshest environment, my efforts in finding Justice and Freedom for my life have not stopped and it never will until my last breath.
Hence, on December 23rd, 2022, while enduring day 140th of my 4th Hunger Strike outside the UNHCR office in Athens, I left my shelter again to reach the Indian Embassy and plead for their help in providing urgent Humanitarian aid and mediation with this UN Agency.
Although I managed to speak with two Embassy representatives and even though they said they would help, ultimately they had gotten the Police involved to take me away. This time I was held in Police Custody for 2-hours before being let go.

Ok, so the poor flower is not looking so good - its winter, I'm lucky to still have any geraniums left! The reason for this shot is to show the stamen in the centre of the flower, well actually to show off what I can now do with my macro extention tubes.
A friend of mine ordered some extention tubes and I got in on the deal. Here is my first attempt...:-))

I used to be wary of electric extension cords that would go from one of the old style ceiling lamp sockets to the item being electrified. I think I see were the idea came from now. this is just crazy- a gas extension cord to a table lamp.

“At the Expense of the Mind”
There are moments in our lives that transform us. Sometimes, they even alter us, to the extent that we barely even recognize ourselves. However, have we really changed completely or did these moments simply bring to the light what kept lingering in the dark for so long? — the slivers of ourselves that are kept hidden, unknown to the rest of the world and maybe even to ourselves. When we’re faced with quandaries in our lives that we’re forced to reckon with, we become too overwhelmed to the point of no return. Change is a constant thing, but when introduced abruptly, it causes a lot of problems in its wake.
2020 as a whole has taken such a colossal toll on everyone, bringing into light everything that was once kept hidden. It doesn’t matter whether you’re living comfortably or not — we’ve all harbored an instilled sense of panic and anxiety at some point into the advent of the prevailing virus. Though we have made it a habit to check up on our physical health, we have also learned to brush aside the state of our own mental state as well as those of others. If there was a thermometer to check the cognitive costs of the pandemic, the beeping sound may never end.
“At the Expense of the Mind”, serves as a catharsis that resonates with everyone and sparks not only emotion but also a sense of realization of the mental distress we’ve been accustomed to. It essentially characterizes the reality that most people are facing right now, myself included, and the palpable feeling of despair when watching the news. I have experienced the feeling of emptiness and desolation when seeing people die due to the virus, but I was all the more moved upon hearing the death of a schoolmate. But it doesn’t end there — the frontliners who have reached the crux of sheer burnout, victims of the virus who are on the brink of death, employees who get fired due to bankruptcy, enrolled students who are struggling with the constraints of online classes, unenrolled
students who get left behind and teachers (and a lot of students well) who are unable to get stable internet connection.
Amidst the pervasive virus, there are internal afflictions that are indiscernible, but are definitely real and way too powerful to be reckoned with alone. In the thick of terror, the body and mind must be treated as coequals. A lot of our lives have been changed, as well as the way we perceive things. The pandemic has brought out a different side to each of us — vulnerability, paranoia, and hopelessness — thereby negatively affecting our mental state. Having to be in isolation from others with only my own thoughts to keep me company, it’s not the most ideal situation to be in. What concerns me is how it’s not just me — there are so many people who are going through struggles that we don’t know about.
