The sun sets over Beck Lake on the east side of Cody, Wyoming. Rattlesnake Mountain lies on the left side of the panorama. Shoshone Canyon cuts through the south end of the ridge. The calm lake reflects the warm evening colors as autumn grasses frame the scene.
Jenny Lake with an amazing view of Mt Teewinot, Cascade Canyon and Mt St.John of the Teton Range.
The lake is named after a Shoshone woman who married an Englishman, Richard "Beaver Dick" Leigh who was part of the Hayden expedition of 1872. Sadly Jenny, and their 6 children, died of Smallpox in 1876.
The lake is estimated to be 78m (256 ft) deep and encompasses 1,191 acres. There is a 11.4km (7.1 mile) trail that loops around the lake. Jenny lake is one of 6 lakes in the park and is the 2nd largest.
Teewinot Mountain is the 6th highest peak in the Teton Range, rising up to 3,758m (12,330ft). Mount Saint John is situated across the Cascade Canyon (carved out by a glacier during the ice age) from Teewinot Mountain is 3,485m (11,435ft)
Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area has rich clay like soil topped with sagebrush and cactus.

This beautiful fox was running through some long grass on a hillside causing us to do a u-turn to go view it.
It was very curious and came up fairly close to give me a smell, even though I gave it lots of distance to move about.
My long lens was a wee bit too long for a full shot with it coming so close to check me out. The fox ended up sitting not far away from some cabins that were still closed for the winter season.
Was such an amazing experience to have one come up so close, it seemed to enjoy our little conversation before taking back off into the hills.
(Back in wifi-land, will try to get some photos posted of our latest journey. We have been up high in Yellowstone, still lots of snow, but it is only just spring there and there are so many wildlife babies being born and spring flowers popping up. Simply stunning.)
What amazing blankets of color we have in the cowboy state of Wyoming! From a long off distance I was able to photograph a painted horse in a heavily painted landscape.

granite hot springs. jackson. wyoming. We went on a super rad snowmobile adventure today to a hot spring in the Bridger-Teton wilderness. When we got there I fell in love with this cabin which has been standing strong with deep snow since 1933. @anvilhotel #anvilexplorer via 500px ift.tt/2nxZX0Z
This past summer we were out west for my nephew’s wedding. We took advantage of the time and the fact that Covid had changed our normal travel patterns to see some sights we haven’t seen before or for at least 20 years. I’ve posted a lot of photos this year from that trip. Working on a few more now from this stop. This is a valley view from the trail around Devil’s Tower National Monument. There’s a few benches you can stop and rest at and just take this in. I remember overhearing someone while at this spot say they had been there several years before and captured the shadow of Devil’s Tower cast across this valleys floor (*insert bucket list item here). I tried to do this view justice. I don’t feel as though I have, but I still want to share it from my (and my Canon’s) perspective. You can stretch it and see the Belle Fourche River winding through the valley. I was trying to gain directional perspective from Google Maps. I’m pretty sure this is looking almost directly east.

Got to play with the Tamron 70-300 on my road trip and was amazed by the quality. Here is a zoomed shot of the Devils Tower.

We were about to end our evening in Grand Teton National Park, at the Mountain View Turnout for Sunset. At the turnout, there is a beautiful view of the Teton Range and you are almost right on top of the mountains, it's stunning. While waiting for the sun to set me and Bob Lussier had a beer, Rick Louie started a movie in his truck, Animal House, we all watched from different positions around his Toyota glaring at his cell phone and laughing at Blutarsky. The Clouds were coming in and the sunset opportunity was looking bleak.
When we were about to abort the sunset, a ragged red pickup pulled into the turnout and approached our vehicle, which looked like a father and his younger son. He was friendly and said "If you guys are looking for pictures to take, there is a bear around the corner, a Grizzly" So we went into Chinese fire drill mode, grabbed our cameras and monopods, locking down the vehicle. The guy in the truck said it was right around the corner.
Well, he was wrong on two counts, it was about a quarter to half-mile hike down the road to the bear, (There was a Bear Jam, a traffic jam in the park with Rangers involved due to wildlife that can kill you) and the bear was a Brown Bear, which also can kill you, but regardless, we watched the bear go into the woods. Things got quiet, we lost him. Then BOOM the Brown Bear waltzes out right in front of us across the park road, I was quick to grab some frames, it was a great experience and the adrenaline was flowing, so much so that I hopped out of the car after a Grizzly soon after this experience, and had some wrath from the rangers, but that's a different story.

Star Trails over Devils Tower. I wanted to capture the Milky Way behind this scene but it was actually behind me! I got this beautiful scene instead. Can't complain!
