It was great to explore the trail all over the state of Michigan this year. We section hiked from Lowell through to Cedar Springs by our home but went as far as Petoskey for some great scenery. The most important part was sharing this in the beginning with my pregnant wife but the most recent trip have been enjoyed with our new baby in the stroller or baby carrier. Hiking is an amazing thing to share with the family, growing family.
I had seen this challenge a few years ago but this was the year I decided to do it! I had a blast finding lots of different places to explore! I'm happy to say I was able to do new sections everytime I went out and while they weren't completely unique, because I had to do out and backs, every hike was a new location. I explored Lowell, Yankee Springs, Middleville, Battle Creek, M40 trailhead, M20 trailhead and even some U.P. bits on a family trip this summer! Loved every bit of it!

We normally hike Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. My wife and I completed 89 miles in the UP. We came to Hocking Hills in Ohio and accidentally completed our 100 miles . The trails in Ohio were different than we were used to hiking in Michigan’s UP but still beautiful. All the trails were very well maintained and it is amazing to see all the care and craftsmanship put in by all the volunteers to the NCT the greatest long distance trail in the US. - Bruce
Most of our miles were completed in Michigan near Pictured Rocks and Porcupine Mountains. We ended up completing our 100 miles in Hocking Hills, OH on our way to Balanced Rocks. All the trails were beautiful and well taken care of. - Kelly
