Here's a very mysterious cave that took me about five hours hiking around the Valley of Fire to find on the way to Burning Man. Like most things in life, I underestimated how difficult it would be... the blessing and a curse of being an eternal optimist! Man, it must have been like 110 degrees out there... I was pouring with sweat... so by the time I actually got to Burning Man I was completely exhausted. But I found the cave!

21 Day Flickr Photo Challenge Day 9: Exploration

We pulled off the side of the road to check out an abandoned farm. It was a bit creepy. I peeked inside a window of the main house and there seemed to still be a place setting at the kitchen table with plates and cups and dishes in the sink. As much as I wanted to explore the inside with my camera I didn't dare go in. Yep, I'm a big scaredy cat. I can live with that.

This image was a technical mistake but I tried to make something of it; first by pushing those sliders as far as I could in Lightroom and then Photoshop.

Urbex is short for Urban Exploration. It is the act of going to and exploring lost and forgotten places that are not visited and often even inaccessible to the general public. Such places include abandoned factories, hospitals, schools, offices and other derelict buildings, unused nuclear bunkers, old military buildings, disused rail yards etc. The real urbexer will NOT break anything in (or to get into) these places. In fact that is considered VERY bad form. But if access can be obtained without causing any damage, then that's considered fair game. Vandalism and graffiti are NOT allowed. It's like nature photography: Leave only footprints, take only pictures.

So at last, we're on our way all together for an exploration of the Mumbles and Oystermouth, the area towards Swansea. The whole of the 5 mile seafront between the Mumbles and Swansea is attractive and there is greenery most of the way along, with parks here and there. This isn't far from our apartment. Tim stops to give Harbie a treat.

Today for Exploration Friday, I went exploring for a bit in a same called Wizardhat Studios, and it looked like a pretty nice place to travel around in, and there was an airship there as well. Where this photo was taken.

A quick preview of (one of) the models I'll be bringing to Brickvention this year.

While shooting this I realized I wanted something with a Coraline feel to it. Especially the song Exploration from the soundtrack. Possibly one of my most favorite sound tracks ever.

If you were to like and/or share my Facebook page, I wouldn't be mad ;)
