Crypto Connection

"With this large bronze piece, the artist represents the profound prenatal bond between mother and son and anticipates the arrival of a hyper-connected generation, one whose synapses are genetically attached to a vast network and whose eyes will witness a constantly evolving reality.
What we perceive in the contemporary as a transient period, will be customary for the infants of tomorrow. This future generation will be living a world where knowledge, relationships and even the economy will be lightened by the paradigms of the past but will vitally remain encrypted to those who will, sadly, fall behind. A crypto dimension to the concept of natural selection."

So I had this grand plan inspired by a comment made over on the LJ community weloveamigurumi to make my next giant cupcake something that opened! I was trying to envision some sort of hinged top using the bottoms of clean fast food cups to hold the shape, but they were too small for the form I had already created... I found a little plastic tub that worked great inside, but it was old and brittle and had geese on it, so i wasn't about to send her a used container.
Here comes the cream cheese!
So after emptying the container of its contents, and waiting for a dishwasher run (doesn't happen quite so often here) I finally had my container! Now how to attach...
I stuffed the top with some poly-fil, and but some tacky glue all around the edges and the top and squished it in there. Good, right? Naaa. The tacky glue didn't want to play with the plastic well, so I schmeared E6000 along the edge too. Will it hold? I hope so, but I did tell the recipient to take care when opening and grip it from the container lid.
Any ideas on how to accomplish securing a plastic lid into a domed yarn creation?
I had considered piercing the plastic and creating a little network of string 'truss' in there, but it seemed impractical, and a pain to implement, plus how the heck was I going to pierce the plastic that wasn't a literal pain?
The bottom I was simply going to glue the yarn right to the container, but I wanted the recipient to be able to remove it if necessary. So it has a little cinched row (like a drawstring bag), and is tied in a bow with the ends tucked in to conceal.
