DAZZLINGLY ATTRACTIVE bird, not often seen in our corner of Kent UK, and was not expecting to see it in the Grove Ferry Feast Hide, but what a joy when it landed, he caught a couple of tiddlers and was off, leaving me with the biggest grin ever.

I thought it was so funny to see this place in Santorini with the table on the outside of the building so high up....a cool optical illusion! Last Caturday was dinner for one and this Caturday is dinner for two!

Happiness often sneaks in when you least expect it...

maybe through a door you didn't know you left open.

You might encounter a crossroad on the way....

just collect all your courage... don't look back and walk on.

Oh.... It might be a bridge too at the end of the day ☺

some sad news I have been expecting arrived yesterday ...

my dear Aunt Mal passed after battling cancer for many years ..

she had a good life and lived her entire life in Wales .. . she loved horses and farms .

when she discovered she had cancer she immediately arranged to hike the Pennine Way .. . this National Trail chases along the mountain tops along the rugged backbone of England and offers 268 miles of the finest upland walking in England. A once in a lifetime experience.

her energy and laughter and encouragement will be with me forever .. some special light never dies .. I miss her already ..

Due to personal misalignments I wasn't and will still not be able to be here much in the next weeks/months.I have no intention to completely give up on Flickr but I expect my presence here to be very intermittent so I will totally understand if you will choose to be less active on my account. Still hope you will keep me in your contacts as I will eventually be back in a more sustainable manner.

For now all I can do is say thank you so much for your friendship and support that mean a lot to me and wish you a wonderful Summer!

Wasn't expecting to find a discarded 'Freedom Trail' chair at West Kirby this morning.

I might've moved it, okay I did move it and probably not to the best place composition wise.

Anyway, I'm now the proud owner of a Go Outdoors own brand collapsible chair:)

♫ Mood ~ Shinedown - Simple Man

See No Evil

by Billy Collins

No one expected all three of them

to sit there on their tree stumps forever,

their senses covered with their sinuous paws

so as to shut out the vile, nefarious world.

As it happened,

it was the one on the left

who was the first to desert his post,

uncupping his ears,

then loping off into the orbit of rumors and lies,

but also into the realm of symphonies,

the sound of water tumbling over rocks

and wind stirring the leafy domes of trees.

Then the monkey on the right lowered his hands

from his wide mouth and slipped away

in search of someone to talk to,

some news he could spread,

maybe something to curse or shout about.

And that left the monkey in the middle

alone with his silent vigil,

shielding his eyes from depravity's spectacle,

blind to the man whipping his horse,

the woman shaking her baby in the air,

but also unable to see

the russet sun on a rough shelf of rock

and apples in the grass at the base of a tree.

Sometimes, he wonders about the other two,

listens for the faint sounds of their breathing

up there on the mantel

alongside the clock and the candlesticks.

And some nights in the quiet house

he wishes he could break the silence with a question,

but he knows the one on his right

would not be able to hear,

and the one to his left,

according to their sacred oath--

the one they all took with one paw raised--

is forbidden forever to speak, even in reply.

The contrast between the two statements is evident.

Yet the latest news say that winter is really over.

Record temperatures over most of Europe and Central / Northern Italy, at the beginning of March will also arrive in Southern Italy

Obviously not hold in consideration of the sudden changes of the weather nowadays ....

Probably this is the news expected by everyone and the speech ends here .... and they lived happily ever after ...

This is Perugia, my regional capital, I must say that I found the city in great shape compared to the last time I visited and I had also spoken here ... clean, well lit, many nice places to eat "young" cheap, .... I hope it is not just an impression of my enthusiasm ....

I hope you have a good week, flickr friends : )

This leopard was photographed in the Ndutu area of Tanzania with Todd Gustafson several years ago. Todd is a world class nature photographer and it was my privilege to go to Tanzania with him twice. This particular leopard was a female who took up a position on a fallen trunk of a tree, right at eye level. As we approached I kept pushing the shutter, expecting to have to stop once she showed any sign of discomfort. It never happened. We were able to stop very close to her where this image was taken. You feel like a very lucky person when something like this happens, a memory I'll never forget. It's what's special about photography. All the memories come flooding back.

Take care guys, Mike.

Two days ago I was photographing in this spot, with frosty leaves underfoot.....this morning what a joy!

I expect there may be many images of snail shells for this theme, so decided to give my snails a rest this week and photograph my cycad house plant that has just put up a few new leaves - all the tiny 'leaflets' have coiled ends when they first appear that will straighten as the leaf grows. On this particular leaf, one of the little leaflets has grown a bit ahead of the others and shown off the lovely details of its coiled end.

For Macro Mondays theme 'Spiral'.

The image was done as a 5-shot focus stack at f3.5, focusing on the tight coil which was 1cm across.

Some sun beams find the way through the overcast sky at Koh Samui, Thailand! Maybe a tropical storm will be coming soon. The Thai fishermen have moored their boats at the shallow low tide shore.

👏 ...ENJOY THE EVENT!!... 👏

Taken near Hope, British Columbia, Canada.

We went out on Saturday morning and found a little used track in the mountains. By unusually good luck I found myself in the middle of a warbler fallout, almost all of the Yellow-rumped variety.

My attention (as may be expected) was focused on the tops of conifers where I would say 200+ warblers were cavorting from limb to limb with avian zest. In the midst of this event, this... this...... (might I say jealous resident) descended from on high and began to pose at close unobscured distances from my camera. I took this as a deliberate attempt by this vain fellow to purvey attention for himself (or for herself as the case may be......nuance).

Yes, this is an unusually camera friendly Steller's Jay!

'Always Expect the Unexpected' as the 'Colloquial Saying' goes.

Despite our squally showers, thunderstorms and hail this afternoon and this evening - this was the scene at 8.45pm tonight from the rear of my home looking East just before sunset at 21.00pm.

At the time, there was another heavy rain shower as the sun sat low above the horizon in the West to the front of my home.

Quite remarkable!

Wishing you all a Happy Telegraph Tuesday (HTT) too everyone. By enlarging the image you'll see various electric pylons, other poles and cables too - through the heavy rain!

I expect this would be called a weed. But the plant produced lots of wind-ready fruit, and it looked elegant, for a weed.

Thank you for looking. Isn't God a great artist?

We went to West WIttering on the off chance there would be a good sunrise. We were not expecting much as both nearby Dell Quay and Bosham were really fogged in but West Wittering seemed to have some sort of micro climate with just a touch of mist where all around was thick fog!

One from a wander around Sutton Harbour in Plymouth a few weeks ago.

I wasn't expecting much but there was a bit of high cloud which meant a good chance of some colour but in the end, it ended up being a bit dull.

So, I've gone for a bit of split toning with this shot and warmed up the colours a bit.

Here's a shot from our stop in Agadir, Morocco. We went up to a scenic lookout expecting to take pictures of the city and shoreline below - - but instead - I spotted this Crested Lark making its way towards me. I quickly changed over to my 100-400 MM before it got past me.

Here is the robin mother who is tending to the eggs shown a few days ago. Still actively tending to them, so I expect little robins soon!

[Confrontation with Death Crab]

Death Crab was so much stronger than I expected.

His special move, "Bleach bubbles," caused some of my reinforced cyber costume to show through and my sword to melt.

When I thought, "I'm done for!😣", The voice echoed.

"Hey you!!! Kinky crab!!! Hold on a sec!!!"

to be continued ,,, maybe ,,, lol

“When we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change; at such a moment, there is no point in pretending that nothing has happened or in saying that we are not yet ready. The challenge will not wait. Life does not look back."

There are a lot of mourning doves gathering in the yard these days. I guess I can expect to see more birds of prey soon. It seems like when the mourning doves are plentiful, I start seeing the Coopers hawk, the red-tailed hawks and the sharp-shinned hawk more often. Elvis, the red-shouldered hawk is here pretty much all of the time. Even if he doesn't stop in I see and hear him flying over daily.

I have yet to get an image of the red-tailed hawks, they don't like me and my camera much. One did fly within a couple of feet over my head last year I'm not sure he knew I was out there when he came soaring over the back fence while I was standing by the pond. I ducked very quickly as he pulled up and went over the west side fence. I watched as another entered the picture, they both called out, circled and disappeared over the rooftops. That was pretty cool but only because we didn't actually crash into one another. I don't think that would have been fun for either of us.

Have a fun and fabulous Friday, happy snapping.

Got on the bike early today due to the expected heat

Thanks for all the nice comments, it is much appreciated
