Eastward train No.50 headed for Waterloo on the ex-Illinois Central Chicago to Omaha main. Ackley was once the diamond crossing with the Minneapolis & St Louis Ry main line between Mason City and Marshalltown. Today the east west line is operated by the CN. The M&StL is abandoned to the north, while the connection track here in the foreground connects to the Iowa River RR shortline that goes to a small ethanol plant about nine miles south of Ackley.
I got a new (to me) camera, basically upgraded the xe1 as it stopped working - shutter curtain stuck down and not worth sending for repair but may have a go myself. I got out this afternoon and set off with tripod and ND filters. It was only as I got home and had a look that I realised the setting was jpeg!!! so no raw files to work with.
Could have kicked myself but it's a good lesson in impatience Would have only taken a couple of mins to realise . Lovely to escape to a quiet beach too - this one is mobbed in summer and getting busier every year

Ex Coelis Mountain is a 8,350-foot mountain with five peaks located in the North Saskatchewan River valley of the Canadian Rockies of Alberta, Canada. It is situated south of Abraham Lake and just outside the eastern boundary of Banff National Park. Its nearest higher peak is Hatter Peak, 5.0 mi to the southeast. Ex Coelis Mountain can be seen from the David Thompson Highway east of Saskatchewan Crossing. In Latin, Ex Coelis means Out of the Clouds. Sastrugi, or zastrugi, are features formed by erosion of snow by wind. They are found in polar regions, and in snowy, wind-swept areas of temperate regions, such as frozen lakes or mountain ridges.
Ex ospedale psichiatrico di Volterra nacque nel 1887 per il ricovero di malati mentali, chiuso nel 1978 a seguito della legge n°180. Un vero peccato vedere un posto con un grande parco e varie strutture in completo abbandono. negli anni son stati fatti tanti murales che rendano questo posto interessante per spunti fotografici . Credetemi una visita all'interno è scioccante e pericoloso ma stupendo allo stesso tempo,
