Heinz Peter Schwerfel

Heinz Peter Schwerfel loves existential multitasking. While still student of philosophy in Paris, he simultaneously becomes an aficionado of art and the movies, jobs as film critic, translator and tourist guide. In 1985, he founds Artcore Film and starts shooting portraits of some of the most renowned contemporary artists. His documentaries are shown in festivals and retrospectives worldwide and receive numerous awards. Still a big voyager at heart and at work, he lives between Paris, Cologne and Buenos Aires, on mission as cultural journalist, writer of many books on culture, film maker and director of the artists’ filmfestival KunstFilmBiennale. His filmography include films on literature, theatre, design, travel and – of course - tango.

A TALE OF TWO CRISES: THE IMPACTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE AND GLOBAL HEALTH

Climate change is already influencing human health. Existing threats are intensifying, new threats are emerging, and who will suffer most varies unequally with age, wealth, and location. Globally, disruptions to physical, biological, and ecological systems are impacting public health, leading to increased respiratory and cardiovascular disease, injuries and premature deaths related to extreme weather events, and even threats to mental health. Global leaders and grassroots efforts alike will be needed to overcome these existential challenges.

Created with a feeling of existential dread I used classical means of oil on canvas to portray myself.

Taking inspiration from the spiritual quality I observed in several Frank Auerbach paintings from his recent Tate Britain exhibition, I painted and removed several attempts of this painting before arriving at this final product.

Existential questions.

How Long Is Now? asks the giant mural on the side of Tacheles. Whether it’s a question or an existential sigh, it perfectly sums up the uncertain past, present and future of one of Berlin’s most remarkable initiatives.

Possessed by squatters and artists in the aftermath of the tumbling of the Berlin Wall 20 years ago, this iconic shell of a building now houses exhibitions, performances, a cinema, and three bars one of which, Café Zapata, houses a fire-breathing dragon which frightens the shite out of unsuspecting visitors. A few beers, and you won’t notice anymore.

The Kunsthaus Tacheles (Art House Tacheles), is an art center in Berlin, Germany, a large (9000 square meter) building on Oranienburger Straße in the district known as Mitte. Huge, colorful graffiti-style murals are painted on the exterior walls, and modern art sculptures are featured inside. The building houses an artists collective which is threatened with eviction.

Originally called "Friedrichsstadtpassagen", it was built as a department store in the Jewish quarter (Scheunenviertel) of Berlin, next to the synagogue. After serving as a Nazi prison for a short while, it was later partially demolished. After the Berlin Wall had come down, it was taken over by artists, who called it Tacheles, Yiddish for "straight talking." The building contained ateliers and workshops, a nightclub, and a cinema.

Ian has a lot to philosophize about.

Why does grandma stop the ride and put that black box between her face and mine?

How long will I continue to get a free ride?

Do I live in the best of all possible worlds?

I think, therefore I am.

He never tempted existential worries. They always followed him. They spied on him in the tall grass of the late autumn, sniffed for him in the tangle of evening hours. They looked straight into his eyes in the black nights, deprived of sleep and forgiveness. They cornered him, like hunting dogs, between the meanders of a slow flowing river and on the bridge of the an old town. He could not find respite, redemption or consolation.

Nigdy nie szukał egzystencjalnych problemów. One odnajdowały go same. Śledziły go w wysokich trawach późnego lata, węszyły za nim w zakamarkach wieczoru. Zaglądały mu prosto w oczy w czarne noce pozbawione snów i przebaczeń. Osaczały go jak psy gończe w zakolach rzeki i na kamiennym moście starego miasta. Nie mógł znaleźć odpoczynku, ani rozgrzeszenia ani otuchy.

I didn't even set this up - I got the frames free from some cool people on 10th, and figured out where I wanted to put them, before discovering that they are just under 4x6. Sigh.

Chief executives of 100 Global Compact Network Thailand (GCNT) companies have pledged to accelerate solutions tackling climate and biodiversity losses, which they agreed are an existential crisis threatening the resource base of the global economy. The same threat will be of focus for COP27 discussions in Egypt and COP15 in Canada this year.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has commended the UN team in Thailand led by Resident Coordinator Gita Sabharwal as a principal partner amid the grim backdrop of the triple planetary crisis, advancing ecological restoration and sustainable economic growth in all dimensions—with UNIDO, UNEP and UNHABITAT bringing their expertise in low-carbon technologies, waste management and energy markets; and UNDP and UNESCO promoting sustainable tourism, the creative economy as well as protection of habitats and endangered species.

The Global Compact Network Thailand Forum 2022, co-hosted with the UN team in Thailand, took place as the country prepares for both COP27 in Egypt and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit 2022 in Thailand this month. A key agenda Thailand will be pushing forward with world leaders is the protection of biodiversity and the steering of efforts to tackle the climate crisis.

As I walk to catch the train to school im sometimes lucky to see the kids during their recess. The street is closed off to traffic and the kids frolic in the street free from cars. This girl here was on her own walking away from her peers off into the distance. Where is she going?

++Refer back to the photo of kids playing football in the creatures set for more recess action++

Existential fear (2008)

There is nothingness everywhere. For infinitive years he was not there in any part of this universe. Don’t know why. Don’t know how. He came into being. Why I was not there for this infinitive years. Why I came into being now. He knew there is infinite importance for his life.

After my deaths I will not be there for infinite years. After that will I again come into existence? Don’t know. In brief I exist. That is a truth that cannot be ignored.

There are no other qualities for brain other than that we know through our brain. If it is like that if brain is making mind then the qualities in brain even though it exists outside must be making itself. Some philosophers consider Physical force and space to be the creator of consciousness. If we know physical force through our mind that force which we know through our mind when somebody pushes us is making our mind. If we do not know physical force through our mind some unknown thing is making our mind. In brief we don't know correctly what inside brain is making our mind. That will not happen in any case. Because what we consider as the creator of consciousness even if it may exist outside is the constituent of consciousness.

What ever we don’t know scientists will tell that it is energy. Energy means work. in human beings language work has only one meaning. Movement in space time. Above told entities are not enough to explain how the consciousness is made. That is why scientists consider consciousness as a mystery and tells that it can’t be explained

there is no answer for the question, what will happen after death. Sometimes it may be asleep for infinitive time. A sleep without awakening afterwards. The question is that why one will not awaken. How can one sleep for infinitive time. Infinity itself is a question. How something which exists will become nonexistent. Why something which is happening on my own brain might not again happen in another planet. Man is always in doubt because there exist several possibilities for him. There is Possibility that he may or might not exist. For infinitive years i may or might not exist. After infinitive i will surely exist. It is told that two parallel line will meet on infinity.

it is not a big deal that time is moving. it is not a big deal if time is moving from past to present. Experience is changing its color otherwise nothing is happening. More important than existing is I know. I know that i exist. Is it true?

Two things are important. First one is I knows. Other thing is I exist. Do I really exist? Or is it like I only know that I exist. I know because I exist. Even if I didn’t exist there is no use. I exist. Whatever i was before my birth That will I be after death.
