ANCIENT CATHEDRALS

How many lives passed

within these cold stormy walls

Saints, heroes, murderers, poor people

Everybody looking for something

Now the clamor of the centuries is over

I will await here silently

among this gathering of rustling shadows

that someone tells me about your broken lives

In the middle of that thick scrub

between erased names

faded photographs

where all ambitions end

behind corroded stone writings

Old manor / Uetersen near Hamburg

This is the culmination of the last couple of month's work on portraiture. The final brief was to put together between 8 to 12 shots of portraits taken using the light painting technique and to exhibit them on a wall. This is my effort. I was very interested in how much the eyes tell us about the person that is being photographed so I tried to find ways of excluding or shading the eyes. Poor Neil was very long suffereing!!!!

I wanted to make the exhibition board look a bit like an eye.

Architectural gems by Zaha Hadid

Our Halls 3A and 3C opened in 2014 and 2018 and have been thrilling clients, exhibitors, and visitors ever since. The work of star architect Zaha Hadid, these halls are not just highlights of architectural design, they also serve as role models of energy efficiency. According to the experts from the DGNB, the German Sustainable Building Council, no other exhibition halls anywhere in the world offer statistics comparable to NürnbergMesse’s 3A and 3C – which is why both halls have been awarded the DGNB’s Platinum Certificate.

"I believe that an art exhibition can be engaging, fun and deeply intellectually satisfying and serious. These are not contradictory concepts in art."

- Jeffrey Deitch

In the photo on the right that you see in this shot, Letizia Battaglia embraces a little girl who appears to be the same one seen in the background, a shot in which the little girl holds a ball in her right hand, while her left arm is raised upwards.

In reality, the two photos were taken forty years apart from each other. In fact, the first is by Letizia Battaglia and was taken in 1980, while the second is by Lia Pasqualino and is dated 2021.

I consider all this as a handover, a testamentary inheritance of the great Letizia towards her equally great pupil. In fact, just a year later Letizia Battaglia will leave us forever.

I spent a wonderful evening, with friends, transported into Rone's amazing exhibition at Flinders Street Station.

It is set in the long-abandoned third-floor wing of Flinders Street Station, Time is a nostalgic love letter to mid-century Melbourne.

Created and developed across the past three years, this truly exceptional site-specific experience is Rone’s most ambitious project to date. Profoundly atmospheric, Time captures both the grand scale and character of the site and the minute detail of a period of Melbourne’s history long lost to progress.

A fictional history that transports audiences to post-WWII Melbourne, Time is inspired by an era when European migrants powered the city’s booming manufacturing industries. A vignette of mid-century working-class life and an ode to the faded yet enduring beauty of this forgotten place, Time captures the spirit of the city’s industrious past while offering glimpses of the station’s role as a once-glorious hub of work, learning and social life.

Many thanks for your visits, kind comments and faves, very much appreciated.
