The dragging of the 12- ton combination by the 8 horses has exhausted the animals and they are given a break before the whole combination is brought back ashore.
The entire operation is carried out with the "Groninger" draft horse, formerly known as "Bovenlander".
The Groninger draft horse is very reliable , level headed, versatile and has a very nice and calm character while he can be used for everything.
The temperament is even, sufficiently lively and very willing to work with an extremely high endurance.
In the early 20th century this horse breed was used for agriculture- and transport work and partly due to its quiet character it was also used for mililtairy tasks in the field artillery.
At the end of the seventies of the last century this horse breed was almost extinct, but in 1982 the association "The Groninger Horse" stated a breeding program and today there are 1.500 Groninger horses and about 30 foals are born every year.
The horse is less suitable as a riding horse, but all the more for harness sport, partly due its high endurance.
The commom colors are brown, black, chestnut, grey and pied....

Approximately like the inhabitants of the island of Cuba during the struggle for independence. They believe in Chegevara, Bob Marley, they are inspired by the ideas of justice, and they dream of becoming masters of their land. An extremely dangerous for them religion for today... Today, the Lani tribe has scattered around the island and, instead of hereditary tribal territories, and they stray in the lands of other Papuan peoples.
I shot this on Fuji Reala 100iso film, heavily damaged by the heat and fumes in these swampy rainforests, on Nikon FM2, 35mm series E lens.

We cannot find Otis, Odessa and Pat. We've been searching for hours and are exhausted.

Max should have come with us. He is a good tracking dog.

We can still go back and pick up Max.

The battle has been long. The stormtroopers takes a small rest among the fire and ashes of the battlefield.
Milu sums up how we all feel at the moment. Apart from a quick visit to the shops early this morning for supplies, Phill and I haven't been out - not even into the garden. Every where is just too hot at the moment. Hope you are all keeping cool in Europe

The 1937 Cord 812 Phaeton is a pretty rare automobile. Few of them were made and although the design was quite advanced, there were many mechanical problems with them. This is a closeup of the exhaust system of one of the remaining cars.

This bird came all to way from Africa to its breeding grounds and when they arrived to lesvos island (Greece) it was raining ,windy. and only 12 degrees C.
So almost no insects to catch , we found them literally sitting on the road totally exhausted .. luckily it was only for 3 days but even this short period took some lives. Very sad to witness but that's also nature.

An inquiry: A short time ago I posted a photo of this same car, and I have found it on another Flickr member's page presented as his own image. I don't get real picky about who uses my images, however to promulgate such a lie irks the hell out of me. BTW, it got more views and faves on his page than mine--now I'm pissed) I posted a note on his posting of my image, saying that he did not take it. No matter, his people still keep admiring it. Does anybody know if there is a way to get Flickr to make him stop this pirating? My guess is that if he did this to me, he does it to others.
