I think this one represents the color of the blooms a bit better...I really hard a hard time getting the image to look as vibrant on flickr as it does in camera and on my computer..first ones I posted were really dull on flickr...so hope this looks OK ...I know all screens are different.

I have this really hard time with B/W photos.Although I like them, I never get to do them... I miss colour!
So this one is almost a B/W photo! But the flower was already white, so that was an easy one for me!

Galaverna:
In meteorologia la galaverna è un deposito di ghiaccio in forma di aghi, scaglie o superficie continua ghiacciata su oggetti esterni che può prodursi in presenza di nebbia quando la temperatura dell'aria è inferiore a 0°C.
La galaverna è costituita da un rivestimento cristallino, opaco e bianco intorno alle superfici solide; di solito non è molto duro e può essere facilmente scosso via. Essa si forma perché le goccioline d'acqua in sospensione nell'atmosfera possono rimanere liquide anche sotto zero (stato di sopraffusione). Questo stato è instabile e non appena le gocce toccano una superficie solida come il suolo o la vegetazione si trasformano in galaverna: si tratta quindi di solidificazione, ovvero passaggio dallo stato liquido a quello solido.
La galaverna richiede piccole dimensioni delle gocce di nebbia, temperatura bassa, ventilazione scarsa o nulla, accrescimento lento e dissipazione veloce del calore latente di solidificazione. Quando questi parametri cambiano si hanno altre formazioni, come per esempio la calabrosa, che si forma quando le gocce di nebbia sono più grosse e il vento è più forte.
La galaverna si distingue dalla brina perché questa non è coinvolta dal processo di sopraffusione delle gocce d'acqua e si forma per il brinamento del vapore sulle superfici raffreddate a causa della perdita di calore per irraggiamento durante la notte. Le formazioni di ghiaccio, simili alla galaverna, che si producono in assenza di nebbia con temperature molto basse e un'alta umidità relativa dell'aria superiore al 90% possono essere chiamate ugualmente galaverna (in inglese soft rime).
Ciro Chistoni descrisse un fenomeno assimilabile alla galaverna, che egli definì forte brinata invernale. Il fenomeno avviene con cielo inizialmente limpido e con formazione di brina sugli oggetti. Scendendo la temperatura, l'aria raggiunge il punto di saturazione di vapore acqueo e, per la presenza di nuclei di condensazione, si forma una nebbia bassa. In questa situazione avviene la solidificazione delle goccioline d'acqua nella nebbia con formazioni aghiformi di ghiaccio amorfo o cristallino che si sovrappongono alla brina. Il fenomeno sarebbe più frequente in autunno avanzato e più raramente in inverno, in particolar modo su oggetti compresi tra il suolo e quattro-sei metri d'altezza. Data la confusione allora presente tra fenomeni di brinamento e solidificazione della nebbia, è probabile che lo scienziato si riferisse a quella che oggi è la galaverna in senso proprio.

Always a thrilling display, Aerosuperbatics have been doing this for decades. I think their 'Excellence in Wingwalking' slogan is fairly recent, and it does raise the question as to whether any other standard of wingwalking would be survivable. 'Mediocre at wingwalking - but not for long!'
Apparently, anyone can have a go at this for a small fee (you pay them, not the other way round!). If you are interested, let me know and I'll book a slot for you. Don't all rush at once.....
One of the wingwalkers in the picture was interviewed befiore the show and said she got the job by applying to an advertisment. I imagine turning up for the interview was enough to secure the position....
The aircraft are Boeing Stearmans, if anyone is interested - very noisy as they have a similar engine and propeller to the T6. Texan/Harvard.
