Spring in a micrometer.
I found this week's Macro Monday theme intriguing. What is space? What defines it? Why do we want to fill it (with springs if nothing else, lol! ) How do we measure it? And why is our society consumed with defining and measuring things, not least ourselves and our children?
Unfortunately this philosophical reverie was pretty useless at generating good image ideas for the theme. So this is my effort anyway, complete with wobbly spring to question our perspective of space - I hope you enjoy it and thanks for looking!
[The (more) boring bit: The micrometer is antique (hence the patina) and has been in my family for at least fifty years, maybe 70. The spring is from a ballpoint pen. Top-lit in daylight on black card with a sheet of white paper to reflect a little more light on to the subject front. The usual tripod and delay shutter. Processed in LR with dark vignette and gradient shadow from left. Detail enhanced using Topaz Detail and converted to B&W (quad-tone with red palette) with Topaz B&W.]

Well the studying is finally over for at least another year, now just the long horrible wait for the results :0(
Exams start , now we have to Study hard
So i'm gonna miss you 2 week =*

Post-365 fail...
Okay, so I stopped the 365 because uni basically stole the last 3 months of my life. But, as of yesterday, I finished my last EVER exam. Ive now got graduation, holidays and a job in September to look forward to :)
So the plan is to start picking up my camera
Also, new flickr is messy and confusing but I feel like I'll grow to like it

It rained for most of yesterday but I am studying for exams so no time for pictures; this is from last years archive.
I was standing on Oxford Street, looking towards Portland Place; the steeple looming in the background is for All Souls Church.
عند بداية كل مادة، وفي بداية كل دراسة :
اللهم إني أسألك باسمك المكنون المخزون يا بديع السموات والأرض ياذا الجلال والإكرام يا ذا الطول والإنعام أن تيسر لي دراسة هذه المادة وأن تعينني على فهمها وعلمها، وأن تزيدني علماً وعملاً وفقهاً في الدين.
اللهم إني أسألك فهم النبيين، وحفظ المرسلين والملائكة المقربين.
إذا صعبت عليك مسألة أو استعصى عليك حفظ مادة :
"اللهم لا سهلَ إلا ما جعلته سهلاً، وأنت تجعلُ الحَزْنَ إذا شئتَ سهلاً "
" رب يسِّر ولا تعسِّر"
عند نهاية كل كتاب أو في نهاية كل دراسة في كل يوم تقول:
"اللهم إني أستودعك ما قرأت وما حفظتُ وما فهمتُ في خزائن علمك وحفظك فأعده عليّ وقت حاجتي إليه مع الزيادة مما عندك إنك أكرم الأكرمين"
قبل الذهاب للامتحان:
إذا استطعت صلي ركعتين على نية التيسير في الامتحان، ثم إذا استطعت أن تقرأ سورة يس على نية التوفيق. سواء في البيت أو في طريقك إلى المدرسة.
عند خروجك من المنزل:
"بسم الله توكلت على الله، لا حول ولا قوة إلا بالله، اللهم إني أعوذ بك أن أضِِلَّ أو أُضَلَّ، أو أَزِلَّ أو أُزَلَّ، أو أظلِمَ أو أُظْلَم، أو أجْهَلََ أو يُجْهَلَ عليَّ"
"اللهم إني توكلت عليك، وفوضت أمري إليك، لا ملجأ ولا منجى منك إلا إليك"
عند دخول قاعة الإمتحان:
"اللهم افتح عليَّ فتوح عبادك العارفين، اللهم انقلني من حولي وقوتي وحفظي إلى حولك وقوتك وحفظك، اللهم اجعل لي من لدنك سلطاناً نصيراً"
عند استلام ورقة الاسئلة حاول ألا تقرأ الأسئلة حتى تهدأ أعصابك واقرأ أثناء ذلك الصلاة النارية:
"اللهم صلِّ صلاةً كاملة، وسلم سلاماً تاماً على سيدنا محمد، الذي تنحلُّ به العقد، وتنفرج به الكُرَبْ، وتُقْضى به الحوائجُ، وتُنَالُ به الرّغائبُ، وحُسنَ الخواتيم، ويُستسقى الغَمامُ بوجهه الكريم، وعلى آله وصحبه في كل لمحةٍ ونَفَسٍ بعدد كل معلوم لك"
عند بدء الإجابة على الأسئلة :
مهما كانت الأسئلة صعبة وشاقة فلا تتذمر ولا تضطرب، بل كُن مبتسماً كما أُمرت، وكن راضياً لأنك عبدٌ للفتاح، واستعن بالله ولا تعجز، وقل:
"رب اشرح لي صدري ويسر لي أمري واحلل عقدة من لساني يفقهوا قولي"
إذا نسيت مسألة:
"اللهم افتح علينا بسيدنا محمد e ما أُغلِق علينا. اللهم صلى على سيدنا محمد e صلاة تفتحُ لنا بها أبواب الرضا والتيسير، وتغلق بها أبوب الشر والتعسير، أنت مولانا فنعم المولى ونعم النصير"
:: الله يوفقنا و يوفقكم في الامتحانات
"48 horas para el examen, Juanito, y sigues sin estudiar".
Juan, Juanito, que tiene 18 años pero le siguen llamando Juanito, no se centra. Se enfrenta a un importante examen, y no se centra.
“En las nubes, siempre en las nubes” se queja su madre.
“Soñando con tonterías” apostilla su padre.
“Siempre en Babia” dice la abuela.
“Juanito, baja de tu nube particular” dice la tía Francisca que siempre tiene que opinar de todo.
“Juan, petardo, aterriza de una vez”, le “pincha” su hermana.
Solo alguien le entiende, Inés, la hermana pequeña de su madre, su madrina, para quien Juan fue un juguete desde el día que nació.
Toda la familia pide a Inés que hable con Juan cuando solo quedan 48 horas para el examen. Confían en su cariño e influencia.
Inés conversa largo y tendido con Juan, ese sobrino-hermano al que adora. Se encierra con él en su cuarto durante un par de largas horas. La familia; padre, madre, hermana, abuela y la tía Francisca esperan en el pasillo con la oreja pegada a la pared. Escuchan voces y risas, muchas risas.
Cuando Inés sale sonriente le asaltan a preguntas. “¿Cómo está?, ¿Qué hace?, ¿Se pondrá en serio a estudiar?, ¿Qué es lo que le distrae?, ¿No será que está enamorado?, ¿Quizás le enredan sus amigos?, ¿En qué pierde el tiempo?”.
Inés sonríe, aguanta paciente el interrogatorio y responde. “Tranquilos, todo tiene arreglo, Juan está con sus musas, sus hadas y sus ninfas, todo saldrá bien, ya lo veréis. No me gustan mucho sus procedimiento, pero es más listo que todos nosotros”.
Y sin más explicaciones, coge su abrigo, su bolso y se va, dejando a la familia sumida en confusión y preocupación, “pues era lo que faltaba, que Inés le diera alas con tanta hada, tanta ninfa y tanta musa”. “Está peor que él”.
Juanito sale de su cuarto solo para cenar. Pide respeto. Necesita aislarse con sus hadas, ninfas y musas. Y se encierra las 48 horas que quedan para el examen.
La familia está en “shock”.
Lo que no sabe es que Juanito se ha bajado una “APP” : “Musestoten” (musas para el 10). Una aplicación que pone al alumno en contacto con musas y hadas que saben de todo: Matemáticas, lengua, geografía, filosofía, física y todos los etc necesarios para superar con éxito los exámenes de selectividad, todas las medias de preguntas de los últimos 20 años, las respuestas adecuadas a las mismas. Hay videos de youtube, tutoriales y asesoramiento por skype y webex. La última tecnología al servicio del adolescente soñador.
Quedan 48 horas para el examen, pero Juanito está en las mejores manos, las de sus musas, hadas y ninfas que trabajan para él.
