Who can say where the road goes

The low angle evokes a "life on the high seas" look, when in fact it is the duck pond at Lakeside Park...a great morning to be out none the less.

Some captured moments evoke memories from our childhood...

They evoke a sense of timeless wilderness and serene beauty !!

Often evokes images of tranquility and connection with nature, offering a serene escape where one can watch waves roll in, breathe in the salty air, and listen to the soothing sounds of the sea.

It can be a perfect setting for reflection, relaxation, or a romantic getaway, surrounded by the beauty of sunsets and the rhythm of the tides.

Whether it's a beach stroll, a seaside picnic, or simply soaking in the view, the experience by the sea is always refreshing and rejuvenating.

In summer, the song sings itself.

The phrase "In summer, the song sings itself" is a quote by William Carlos Williams, suggesting that the beauty and vibrancy of summer naturally inspire a sense of joy and melody. It evokes a feeling of effortless harmony and abundance that is characteristic of the season

Excerpt from barnquilttrails.ca/barns/brant-county/wheels/:

Situated between Kenny Creek and Horner Creek, both tributaries of Whitemans Creek, this area is rich in agriculture. Nearby Harley Road is known as the “Quaker Trail” for its historical significance as a route for early settlers. The “Wheels” pattern represents its significance as a transportation route, while the red, white and blue colours evoke the Dutch heritage of the landowners, the Vandenberg family.

"Purer colors... have in themselves, independently of the objects they serve to express, a significant action on the feelings of those who look at them."

Two figures stand silhouetted on a wooden deck, framed by a tree trunk and a sky heavy with clouds. Their posture suggests quiet observation, perhaps reflection, perhaps resignation.

The black and white treatment strips away distraction, leaving only shape, gesture, and atmosphere. It’s a moment suspended, timeless, wordless, and deeply human.

This image evokes the stillness between thoughts, the weight of shared silence, and the haunting beauty of being present without needing to speak.

The Church and Convent of Santo Domingo is a Catholic temple built in the Historic Center of the city of Quito.

Its construction began in 1540, with a temporary chapel. Later, the construction of the temple that persists to the present day began in 1581, concluding the works of the church in 1688.

The temple is covered with works in cedar with gold leaf, and by numerous paintings and carvings that adorn its interior. Along with the main altarpiece, the ten side chapels that complete the interior of Santo Domingo further enrich the internal body of the church with beautiful works in wood and gold leaf.

Of the former grandeur of the church remains the splendid Mudejar roof, the most beautiful of its kind in the architecture of Quito.

The richest and best known of the chapels in the church of Santo Domingo is the Chapel of the Rosary, which is located on the south side of the transept and is built on three different levels. This chapel looks out onto the old street of La Loma (today called Rocafuerte), where, to overcome another unevenness of the terrain, the architects built the Arch of Santo Domingo, with cone-shaped buttresses evoking lookout posts.

In the suspended moment of Cogito, she thinks, therefore she is a fleeting dream dancing across her features, captured in the softness of an intimate chiaroscuro.

This photographic composition, where a dreamy blur envelops her absent gaze, evokes the fragility of intimate thoughts, like a heart silently opening to the invisible world of possibilities.

According to the internet seeing a deer in a cemetery evokes a sense of a spiritual presence or a message from the beyond. Personally, I think this beautiful deer wandered south of his home in Westchester and we happened to cross paths with each other.

The image captures a mysterious, almost mystical forest scene taken in the early hours of the morning, when the mist still lingers between the trees. The simple composition, where the fog almost swallows the outlines of the trees, evokes a sense of magic and tranquility. The soft light breaking through the mist casts a diffused glow across the scene, enveloping it in an atmosphere of mystery and discovery. This subtle yet powerful depiction captures a fleeting moment that feels both still and alive. The scene holds a near-painterly beauty that invites contemplation and reflection.

I find the appearance of lotus seed pods to be very cool, but apparently as many as 18% of women and 11% of men find that such images elicit a level of disgust that has been called trypophobia. It is not a true phobia in that it does not involve fear but rather distaste.

I thought the red color of Death Angels cover from the "Veil of Deception" record would perfectly fit to the former red curtains of this stage... sadly no good quality of this print was to find in the internet.

We enjoy winter sunsets for their unique beauty: the crisp, clear air enhances vivid colors, while snow reflects and amplifies the glowing hues. The contrast between the cold environment and the warm tones of the setting sun evokes a sense of comfort and wonder.

Winter sunsets also feel fleeting and rare, offering a tranquil moment of reflection and connection to nature, especially during the quieter, slower pace of the season.

Thanks for your faves and comments 👍

> Some gazes travel through time without ever fading. This is one of them.

Painted between 1843 and 1845, The Desperate Man is an early work by Gustave Courbet, long before he became the leading figure of Realism. Here, he depicts neither landscape nor social scene, but himself,or at least, an intensified, almost theatrical version of his inner self.

Wide-open eyes, hands clutching his hair, a face drawn tight with tension, everything seems frozen in a split second of extreme intensity. Is it fear, madness, or a staging of emotion at its breaking point? Courbet explores, experiments, exaggerates… and captures something deeply human.

Recreating this gaze today, even through an avatar, is an attempt to grasp something elusive: an intensity, a fracture, a shared humanity. Because some expressions cannot be copied, they must be felt.

Between past and present, real and virtual, this gaze still fixes itself upon us. And perhaps, deep down, it questions us in return.

(Working with the tools at hand, and the inherent limitations of avatars, especially in capturing such a powerful gaze, this image is intended as a tribute rather than a reproduction. An attempt to evoke, rather than replicate, a timeless masterpiece.)

This week's theme is yellow. The color yellow is the color of joy, happiness and creativity. It is stimulating and associated with optimism, clarity of thought and intelligence. Yellow brings light and evokes optimism, energy and playfulness, among other things. Yellow is one of the most common colors among flowers and highlighters.

First things first about this image… no, I have not Photoshopped in the pink hues. They are real... as genuine as the curious wonderment they may have evoked in you.

Want to know more? Sure, but I will need three minutes of your precious time… wanna trade? Nothing’s for free, my friend. I will give you my story, if you give me your time.

If you are still reading, you have likely chosen to trade. Well then, thank you for your time! I know you have many things to spend your time on; appreciate you choosing to do so today at this little mote of creativity.

Alright, alright… here’s the story.

The plan was to view a Maine sunset from the highest point in the land, the Cadillac mountain, an old shield volcano right by the ocean. NPS has strictly limited visitation here citing parking issues, which is all fine for the crowd factor, but is a nasty yank on the trip planning aspect. Undeterred, I secured passes for this evening three months in advance with the hope of seeing the Acadian Atlantic get drunk on some sweet sunset nectar. However, on that day, up there on the highs of the beautiful Cadillac mountain, an armada of clouds sauntered in. Yes, yes… clouds don’t always roll, they sometimes amble, as fishes sometimes fly. Our cloud of the day was thick, moist, and relentless in restricting the visibility to a few palms (new unit for metrics as my feet were not always clearly visible then). Dejection hung effortlessly in those misty clouds like a nagging nuisance. Forget viewing the nearby Atlantic, I could barely tell if all the surrounding vegetation was swaying to the chilly wind or to my frustrations.

Then something happened.

The sun, somewhere out there in the west, sank below the horizon. And the cloud, like an eager toddler, latched on to some of the prettiest colors in the palette. First, it turned soft yellow, then a pale orange, and ultimately an unapologetic pink (above). You see, the cloud was purloining the setting sun's gifts for the dying day. And I was right in the middle of that steal! Feeling it on my skin, kneading it in my bones! I was inhaling that fleeting apparition and letting the ethereal air diffuse past my lungs deep into aphotic depths where my words don’t reach. About then, I was colored identically as the mountain, the cloud, and the moment. In Cadillac.

Yeah, that’s why I said what I said in the title.

Did you like the story? Want to tip me for entertaining you? Alright, I will gratefully accept a minute or two more of your time, which you could spend looking at the above image. Just be warned, like me, you too could get splashed and spoiled in Cadillac.

The performances of the Italian flag throwers “Sbandieratori” evoke certain aspects of military life during the Middle Ages and the Humanism, showing the charm of an ancient discipline. Harmony, Force, Commitment, Strictness are the values of this sporting art which are renewed every day as the group trains and performs with energy and enthusiasm. The performance quality and team spirit are the basis of the work added to a modern approach and the passion of its young athletes, bringing to life the prestigious art of flag throwing.

Reflected Mediobogdum Roman Fort Wall slightly rebuilt defending history and evoking mystery against a backdrop of towering majesty in Eskdale

This historic site needs no reflection to admire the work of our ancestors and of nature, but the reflections do add to my consideration and appreciation.

Evening approaches and the shadow slightly encroaches on your imagination building and extending possible former construction and stirring ideas of formal occupation and informal habitation. This fort is built near the mountain passes that vehicles struggle across. To see the well set stone amongst the transformed landscape is to be amongst living food for the soul. Well it is if you have your way of enjoying history.

The feelings so easily generated here give you an insight into the way we humans focus on an importance and build around it, but when our human systems change we walk away from our former focus and take away the resources we were investing. Then the historic value gives us focus renewed to map, to rebuild a little and to conserve the memory making place. The history of this one Roman Fort positioned along a trade route near the edge of a vast Empire still standing near the narrow single track byway that never attracted industrial traffic and road building tells us much about ourselves and human interest.

Mediobogdum Roman Fort on Hardknott Pass in the Lake District has some great slightly rebuilt ruins. The light on this evening was a splendid Sun bath and banquet lighting the way to older notions and even initiation upon a ladder of lights that illuminated all of the ways to become enlightened, ignited and rejoicing in the light. This remote mountain pass with amazing ruin is an almost unbelievable location to find history and to enjoy mystery.

This man's posture expresses loneliness and evokes both emotional closeness and distance.

The railing represents only the visual distance. The human distance arises because we seem to have forgotten how to approach one another.
