As in previous years, the Trade Facilitation Programme (TFP) of the EBRD invited its members and everyone interested in the topic of international and intra-regional trade finance banking to attend the annual TFP event within the framework of the Annual Meeting 2013.
TFP currently includes over 102 Issuing Banks in the EBRD region and more than 800 Confirming Banks worldwide. In the last three years, the Programme provided essential support to its members and secured growing cross-border trade finance flows as well as local financing of export-import transactions and factoring in the volatile financial market environment.
This year’s half-day event offered a unique opportunity to review and discuss contemporary trade finance banking topics and share know-how including statistics, trends, and specifics through presentations by professional trade finance bankers and specialists. Amongst the topics presented were recent developments in trade finance facilitation, intra-regional trade including between SEE, CIS and Turkey as well as SEMED countries, and technical cooperation projects.

Wiki: The Black Nazarene is a life-sized image of a dark-skinned, kneeling Jesus Christ carrying the Cross enshrined in the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene in the Quiapo district of the City of Manila, Philippines, otherwise called the Quiapo Church.
The Black Nazarene was carved from a dark wood in the 16th century in Mexico, and then transported to Philippines in 1606. It depicts Jesus en route to his crucifixion. Pope Innocent X granted recognition to the lay Confraternity of Santo Cristo Jesús Nazareno in 1650 for the promotion of the devotion to Jesus through the icon. It was housed in several churches near Manila in the early decades, arriving in Quiapo Church in 1787 where it has been enshrined ever since. The icon is renowned in the Philippines, and is considered by many Filipino Catholics to be miraculous, its mere touch able to cure disease. It attracts homage by numerous devotees and major processions every year.
The image (in recent years a composite replica) is brought out of its shrine for public veneration on January 9. The January 9 procession reenacts the image's Traslación (literally, "transfer") in 1787, or "solemn transfer" to the Minor Basilica from its original shrine inside Intramuros. It is the largest procession, drawing millions of devotees thronging to touch the icon, and lasting 20 hours at the most. The Traslación is also notorious for the casualties that result from the jostling and congestion of the crowds pulling the Ãndas. The injuries and even deaths of devotees are brought upon by one or a combination of heat, fatigue, or being trampled upon by other devotees.
The wiping of cloth on the image, which is also done during the PahalÃ-k ("kissing") ritual during the vigil of the Traslación, follows the folk belief that cloth can be imbued with a holy object's miraculous powers (specifically its curative abilities). This transfer of sanctity through contact descends from the custom of ex brandea (cloth wiped on the bodies or tombs of the Twelve Apostles), itself part of the wider category of Third-class relics.

This event kicks off a year-long campaign promoting the social, environmental, economic and food system benefits of local seafood in the community. It's developed in partnership with the Boston Collaborative for Food and Fitness (BCFF) and Health Care Without Harm’s Healthy Food in Healthcare Program (HCWH) will kick off the weekend of February 16th and 17th, 2013. The kickoff will take place at two of Boston’s winter markets: the Egleston Farmers Market in Jamaica Plain and the Dorchester Winter Farmers’ Market in Dorchester. Both winter markets now offer fresh seafood from local dayboat fishermen procured by Red’s Best, a Boston based seafood distributor that offers seasonal dayboat and traceable seafood direct to consumers at farmers markets and as well as wholesalers.
Cooking demonstrations from top local chefs will allow market goers to taste a variety of seafood dishes prepared, on the spot, right at the market. The first seafood event includes a Food Truck vs. Restaurant “Seafood Throwdown” on February 16th from 11am-2pm at the Egleston Farmers Market featuring Chef Irene Li of Mei Mei Street Kitchen Food Truck and Chef Marcos Santos from Tres Gatos. They will be cooking up their best seafood dishes with a mystery local seafood that is fresh caught and paired with local ingredients from the market. The Dorchester Winter Farmers’ Market will feature local Chef Karen Henry Garrett of Dot 2 Dot Café and other local chefs who will prepare local seafood dishes based on the local catch of the day and fresh ingredients from vendors of the market. Tastings will be available for pre-registered participants.
