Something about this image of an early morning gondola ride leads me to believe that everyone in the boat was in dire need of espresso. How could I pass up on this Venezian iconography?

An essential part of attending the Vivid Sydney 2023 festival is to also visit one of the cafes in 'The Rocks'.
This is a flat white coffee and 'Espresso Coffee Crunch' cake.

This is an historic address which dates back to the late 1700s. Here is the history:
The site at '99 George Street' has been in continuous usage since the late 1700s. It was part of the first Sydney hospital grounds, standing just south to the site, with the Assistant Surgeon’s residence occupied by Francis Greenway, the convict architect who had been transported for forging a building contract in 1814.
In 1861, for an unknown reason, the buildings at 95-99 George Street were vacated and the buildings demolished. The land remained vacant until circa 1867 when the present building was constructed.
They were occupied in 1868, with a butcher in No. 95 and a grocer in No. 99, and these buildings continued to be used for those businesses for the next 20 years. '99 George Street' was continually used as a grocers and run by a number of tenants until the 1970s. In the late 1970s and early 1980s the Sydney Cove Redevelopment Authority undertook restoration and reconstruction works on the terrace of shops.
Since the late 1980’s, '99 George Street' has been occupied by 'The Rocks Café', where it now serves flat white coffee and Espresso Coffee Cake, lol.

Geranium ‘Espresso’ is a brown-leaved cultivar of Geranium maculatum, a wild cranesbill native to North America. Every spring, I love to see its nuanced lilac-pink flowers as well as coffee-brown leaves. Taken in my little garden.

This evening we are down on the harbour at Kirribilli.

Some espresso facts,,,,
Origin: Italy. In most countries in southern Europe you might get an espresso when ordering just coffee. An espresso cup
is made of thick porcelain and holds a volume of 40 to 60 ml. The cup should be heated first. The creamy, caramel-looking layer on top the espresso is called crema, which results from coffee oils emulsifying under the pressure of hot water.
Who can live without coffee? Not this gal... I've tried.... it just makes for the grumpy kitten look.. hahaha
And here you go Charly... a cuppa for you if you want to join me doing a small blog and listening to tunes. ♥

An affogato (Italian for "drowned") is an Italian coffee-based dessert. It usually takes the form of a scoop of vanilla gelato "drowned" with a shot of hot espresso.
